Mike ... So pleased to see you have posted this video of the coat rack and shelf. I've really missed your videos (especially everything to do with chess boards, boxes and pieces :) ... The quality and beauty of the items you create are just in a league of their own. 🙂👍
Always like how calm are your videos, great craftmanship and to answer your question, Yes I would like to make it :-) I have planned to built a chess game for a long time…
Thanks! Just been super busy this year, but I have lots of video recorded. Things are getting back to normal and I'll be releasing new videos in the coming weeks.
Thanks! Apologies for being away for so long. Everything's good. I'll release some videos in the coming weeks and you'll understand why I didn't have time to do any video editing until now. Everything's pretty much back to normal now, though. 🙂
@@Woodumakeit No worries about not uploading, we all have lives. I'm glad you're back and I'm glad all is good. I'm looking forward to what's upcoming.
I know your business and content creation has progressed well over the years! I have enjoyed the content since the beginning. I was, however, struck by the price of that CNC when I looked it up... I now have goals :) Keep up the good work!
@@Woodumakeit I get it! You mastered the game before you added it to your arsenal... Will be making a chess board with my foster son this winter. You are a huge inspiration and teacher. When I am hand carving the numbers/letters I will covet that CNC under my breath :)
@Woodworker Thank you. I've been following your channel. You do amazing work. Can you tell me your speeds and feeds and depth of cut for that bit? I have an Avid 4848 Pro and have a pretty good handle on the speeds and feeds but with that particular, I don't know what depth of cut to try.
@@Shane-ce9fm I almost always cut the female portion 0.12" deep and for the male portion I use a start depth of 0.08" and a flat depth of 0.04". I most likely used a spindle speed of 20,000 RPM and a feed rate of 15 inches/min, but that's just a guess.
@@Shane-ce9fm It does multiple passes. I checked the files and for the female portion, it's set at 18 inches/min with a pass depth of 0.02", final pass stepover of 0.01" and clearance path stepover of 0.01". For the male part, it's set at 15 inches/min with a pass depth of 0.01", final pass stepover of 0.005" and clearance path stepover of 0.01". I hope that helps.
The additional video at the end is lovely.
Good to have you back Mike. Always appreciate your inspiring builds and videos.
Stunning piece, Mike! Truly amazing work! Nicely done!!! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Worth the wait! Well done.
Excellent, as always Mike. hope to see more of your fine work.
Nice job Mike. That cocobolo really popped with the spray on finish.

That's definitely my most expensive tool. I had to think long and hard to justify the purchase, but it's been a great addition to my shop.

How heavy is this piece?
I would guess it was about 40 lbs.
What v bit did you use? Do you have a link?
I used the Amana 45611-K 15-degree engraving tip. Here's a link: amzn.to/3QobN9d
