    As a 911 dispatcher, E911 since the creation of those two laws, has just made it all worse… no one in IT understands that. I get calls from urgent cares or doctors offices associated with hospitals, and it now shows through the main hospital and that could be 2 cities away from where the caller is…

    Crosstalk. Please can you make a video on how to block an extension from making an outside call on FreePBX? I will be grateful.

    Love your videos, but respectfully disagree with not starting EXT with a 1. I would rather change the feature setup. I have always started the EXT with a 1 and the second digit as a 1 or 0. When doing so, the system sees 10 or 11 as the EXT and not an outside number. For example. If you start with 2 for EXT, and you dial 234 and then look for the last 4 digits of the phone number if there is an ext 234, the system will think it is an EXT not the first 3 digits of a phone number

    Around 19:00 you talk about an extension being mapped to multiple phones. Can the reverse be true and have multiple extension tied to a single phone for different work shifts and employee at that work space ?

      Yes it is possible by having eg. Line1 of phone extention 100, Line2 of phone => extention 200, Line3 of phone => extention 205. Depends how many sip accounts the actual phone supports.

    Curious what you like better than iSymphony. I was a Fonality dealer and everybody loved their HUD. iSymphony was the closest I found

    If there are remote users, could I use the Emergency callerID as their cell phone, or would best practice be having a different number for each user purchased, and have the E911 linked to the user's address per phone number and/or inbound route?

    • @shivagrid
      @shivagrid 2 года назад

      You would need a separate E911 address for each and every location the user may be calling from. Most sip trunking services let you register one E911 emergency dispatchable location per phone number (DID), so would need a different number for each location. ClearlyIP does have a smart E911 solution that lets you set up multiple E911 emergency dispatchable locations while using only one phone number, but that is a special solution they developed.

    @CrosstalkSolutions I have followed up all the settings. Extensions were added successfully and registered. Call are coming but can't hear any audio. Please not internal calls only. no calls from outside.

    Great video series.
    I'm wanting to setup a FreePBX system in my home with a handful of extensions, both wired and wireless, throughout the house.
    Can I do this as a residential user or do I have to be a business?
    How would I get my existing home phone number associated to the FreePBX system? Would i have to contact my phone service provider?

    • @darrenoleary5952

      @Alistair Thompson thanks.
      I'm in Australia, with Telstra as my current landline phone and internet provider.
      The phone, which is just a standard home phone, connects to the modem/router and the ISP provides VoIP directly through the service.
      Like you suggested, I might have to port out my existing number to a VoIP service provider (or possibly get another number).

    • @bluesteelbass
      @bluesteelbass 3 года назад +1

      I would recommend signing up with a new number with your VoIP provider. If all works out, then port your existing number to the new service. Allows you to iron out any issues that might arrise with the new service.

    Hi, great tutorial so far. Love it !
    I'm just getting some trouble with the csv when trying to edit it with Excel.
    The exported csv is not working with FreePBX, looking inside the csv, some fields with quotes aren't exported right by Excel.
    Do you have any tips or idea on how i could resolve this issue ? Thanks

    Has anyone had any luck getting extension keys (DTMF) to work with pjsip? I've tried every combination of RFC, inband, SIP on both ends with no luck. Switching back to channel sip works fine. I'd hate to leave my phone on an legacy driver for long. Any ideas would be greatly welcome! Fantastic course BTW!

    Hi, I have a problme with freepbx that I am currently using. The problem is that freepbx call the on hold music function in the sip trunk before the other side pick up the phone. So if I used the softphone that connect to Freepbx and make a outbound call, I will hear the on hold music at the other end. Could you please help me on this one?

    Are PJSIP and CHAN_SIP the only choices. I believe asterisk also supports NCS/MGCP

    What happens when you bulk import extensions when there are voicemails already on an extension? Will it leave it if the password hasn't been changed back to the extension number?

    Is there an option to not allow an extension to receive calls from the outside. Example: phone in the break room for any staff to use but don't want outside callers to have direct access to ring the phone.

    • @CrosstalkSolutions
      @CrosstalkSolutions  3 года назад +1

      Yes - you can exclude phones from having people dial them directly via the IVR.

    installed a brand new server, created 2 pjsip extensions. They are registered and I can dial out the outbound trunk and make a call. However, They can't call each other. Never had this problem with Chan SIP. Any suggestions.

      I got the same issue. Solved with run "make selectmenu" -> "app_macro" -> save and exit, then run "make" and "make install".

    you mention doing a separate video on find me follow me? i can't seem to find it, did you ever create one?
    I have found this series incredibly helpful in getting my feet wet with freepbx after having not mucked around with asterisk, or telephony, in about 10 years! I'm test driving clearly ip as a trunks right now due to their mms support and integration with their softphone app, which is working almost perfectly for my needs, only falling short in that i can't use multiple dids for mms from my soft phone app.
