Manchmal frage ich mich schon, ob die Ärzte die Herzschwäche von Sergei nicht hätten merken müssen. Anderseits nützt das im Nachhinein nichts, sich den Kopf zu zerbrechen. Leider können wir nichts rückgängig machen. Aber es tut mir für Sergei und die Familie unsäglich leid. Mögen die zwei Seelenverwandten einst wieder zusammen kommen!!🌺🌺

I have this still on VHS along with her first solo skate. I can remember my aunt asking “Did you hear the news about a Russian skater dying.” She didn’t remember the name and I turned the TV on and heard the news. Shock wasn’t even the word, how anyone could die that young? Many tears were shedded. I was lucky to see them with Stars on Ice and one of their last professional competitions before he passed. 3 years later, my world crashed down again my grandpa passed away on the anniversary of his passing. It’s hard to believe it’s been almost 22 years but so happy Katia found love again, something no one though she would, let alone skate again. Daria carries on her dad’s face, she looks so much like her dad.
Better to have loved and lost. Than never to have loved at all. Their skating performances were loved all over the world. Aloha! Oahu, Hawaii U S.A.

I too feel the same karen but i am so happy to have witnessed such love and joy what a legacy Sergei left us with in his short time here on earth his life was so fulfilled and happiness pours out of them being together they were truly blessed and thankyou sergei and katerina for sharing your happiness

This still makes me cry even now. Back when it happened I was immersed in my life and my ex idiot boyfriend. I felt badly, but didn't know a lot of the background. 21 years later after seeing clips, interviews and tributes, I cried like a baby to realize he was taken way too young. If only they caught this damned heart problem . It's a wonder he lasted as long as he did. He might have been saved if they had paid attention to his family history of heart attacks.

And what a love they had!! Just Beautiful together! I remembered him this year while I watched the Olympics and wondered what he would be today. I still miss him and Katiya on the ice. They were adored for many things by everyone who ever saw them skate. The whole world came to a standstill the day he died. Rest In Peace Sergei 😢❤️😇
