Elements like casino, jazz music, and spy wars were all symbols for this city in the special era. The umbrella scene at 0:16 is so typical in Chinese spy war TV dramas these days!

Why does she have fewer views than most famous characters? She is one of the broken characters who saves you a lot of time for exploring and does a lot of damage.
They really went in on that 80's vibe, specifically casinos. With her name card at the beginning, the jazz music, the dice on her animations, and the background when she's not going around strangling treasure hoarders. I'm getting the feeling that she's "the one in control/the one pulling the strings", with her burst and skill being, well, strings. Overall 10/10.

Definitely some 1930’s Shanghai/HongKong vibes as well. Like she came from one of those old Chinese mafia movies. The pearl necklaces, the jade bracelets, everything about her screams opulence!

I love the fact this had the vintage Chinese vibe during 1921 - 1940, you can tell from the lighting and camera work that this is inspired by old Chinese TV shows such as "夜上海" etcs
I’m so in love with Yelan. She has this Roaring 20’s vibe that I never thought we’d see until Fontaine and yet she’s still seems so futuristic. She almost feels out of place in Liyue, but it’s that uniqueness that attracts me even more. This demo just shot my dedication to pulling her through the roof.
She's very much Liyue, in the sense that her entire character is obviously designed with the early 20th century Shanghai vibe in mind. But you're right, she probably doesn't remind you of in-game Liyue.
based off the gambling motif, western clothes and the aesthetic of this trailer i'd say she's inspired by Macau, a gambling city in China that was once a portuguese colony.

I love how she's similar to Yae Miko but the thing that differentiates the two is the fact that Yelan is not afraid to get her hands dirty, and Miko would rather not.

Got her by luck in 14 wishes, after I lost my 50/50 to Qiqi, and sorta built her today and I gotta say, she's incredible. Her damage is great even with the Stringless I'm using. In fact she's so good that I'm feeling bad for not pulling for her bow, now I have to search what 5 star bow would be good for her 🗿

Yelan was never in my pull plans right from the get-go. Didnt bother reading up for mats, relevant info nor watching her trailers. But here I am now awestruck at her playstyle and seeing this trailer now truly made my indecision into a big W for my team comps.
I wish i pulled for her i kinda regret it but i had to get my boy kazuha so i hope She will get a rerun maybe soon? But new characters are coming so I don’t think that will be possible
I love how she's similar to Yae Miko but the thing that differentiates the two is the fact that Yelan is not afraid to get her hands dirty, and Miko would rather not.

Got her by luck in 14 wishes, after I lost my 50/50 to Qiqi, and sorta built her today and I gotta say, she's incredible. Her damage is great even with the Stringless I'm using. In fact she's so good that I'm feeling bad for not pulling for her bow, now I have to search what 5 star bow would be good for her 🗿

Her design is inspired by the old Shanghai (1920-1945) when the city was highly influenced by the western world. The city is featured by ballrooms, casinos, and spy wars during that era. The umbrella scene at 0:16 is so typical in Chinese spy war TV dramas these days!
