This is actually my favorite FPS. Far too many modern games have these muddy textures and rely far too much on texture mapping, instead of creating detailed textures that are made even prettier with texture mapping. You did better than all the major review outlets, who's reviews of this game were absolute trash and didn't give you any idea as to what was good or bad about it before going in.
I tend to agree. One thing that people might miss about the Firestorm Revolver, is that you can use it to time your kills. They stun while ablaze, unable to act, giving you a chance to prep for killing other enemies, and getting multiple kills in quick succession. A huge part of successful aggression is chaining kills together. Your Overdrive multiplier goes up, which causes enemies to drop more feltrite, which heals you, and if specced into in projects, can maintain overdrive or the multiplier. The Firestorm Revolver isn’t a hand cannon; it’s a time-warper. Use it to set up enemies for later, and squeeze more kills into a shorter time frame, to raise the multiplier more.
You can use it against enemies - even the big ones - and use them as wrecking balls to destroy the environment while inflicting damage on them at the same time.

Huge iD Software fan, I remember playing Rage on day 1 and being disappointed as all hell. Rage 2, on the other hand, got me hooked on just how absurd and over the top it was. Fact, the first had a more distinct atmosphere but the games feel like Thor pre and post Ragnarok
I still think that Rage 2 is a good Idea because it works a little bit like bulletstorm with better shooting but sadly will be ignored by many people because wolfenstein and doom are right around the corner. I somewhat hesitate to buy it too...
@Nikos papadopoylos I really tried to enjoy the first game but I only liked the combat...everything else was "meh" at best...wouldve been better as a normal shooter without openworld and driving...
Doom eternal doesnt have a release date does it? Also wanna add that bulletstorm is criminally underrated and deserves a sequel YESTERDAY. One of the most fun games I've ever played.
The combat in Rage 2 is better than Doom in my opinion. I don't usually go for the twitchy absurd fast FPS games, but I love Rage 2. I was really surprised how well it plays with a controller.
I dont know why this game has a lukewarm reception (mixed on steam reviews) but the combat felt so good and the environments were pretty interesting. It doesnt have much of any in your face story but never felt it actually needed one. The car combat is pretty much an afterthough tho considering these are the creators of the Mad Max videogame and it has one massive game breaking bug... but overall this is such an underrated game. By the time i finished it, im clamoring for more. The weapons and the abilities are so satisfying
The grav dart sounds like Red Faction Armageddon's magnet gun. That was some of the most fun I'd ever had using a weapon in a video game, even if it wasn't first person. I think I'm sold. XD
I loved Rage 2 ! Tons of fun...i did every mission and try to do every achievement...Later i tried that DLC with skeletons (don't remember the name)...damn the difficulty was so high that I never finished it....still fun if you ask me ! LOVE IT !
The first game was one of my top 5 ever games. Dead City was the highlight of the first game as well and the collectable card game which you can easily dump 10+ hours into as its almost identical to magic the gathering.
Yeah, but later on it was revealed that Doom 2016 was fucking Blood Dragon behind Crysis’ back and the child was his all along. Then it was put up for adoption and raised by Mad Max.
Yoo Hoo Edited my reply. Thanks for the correction, but by the look of how the dash works, it might’ve been Doom: Eternal that cucked Crysis all along.
GmanLives, you're one of the few game commentators that I can stand listening to. You're really in depth and adult. I don't have to wade through a bunch of silly pubescent jokes and shit like that. Even Angry Joe makes me cringe with how stupid all the (attempts at) humor are. Props man, keep up the good work. And yeah, if id Software has a hand in a shooter I'm definitely going to get it. i'll make sure to spend a good amount of time on the game first and seek out a bunch of arks at the beginning.
Something I did to enjoy rage was use keyboard and mouse obviously for the gun sections and have my controller on stand by for all the driving sections. I tell you, it's night and day. Makes all the difference in enjoying the game.
Real gem. I wanted to uninstall in the opening but then it becomes just so fun, and the game world is so varied and interesting. I wish you could rely on some of the basic cars more though.
I'm an epileptic and I appreciate you bringing up the screen effects as this is definitely a title I need to avoid. Most games are OK but this game takes the chaotic effects from Borderlands and dials them up to 11. It's a bit too much for me.

Looks decent, not a fan of super powers, but might get this for the shooting mechanics alone. And that shotgun sound... whoever made it deserves an award for Boomstick sound design of the year.
I played Rage 1 when it came out and absolutely loved the gameplay and visuals. Some parts were absolutely beautiful. It wasn't perfect, but I enjoyed it a lot more than other shooters at the time. Rage 1 got a lot criticism, mostly due to the texture problems on release. I never had had that problem, if I remember correctly on the pc, there was a specific way to configure the graphics settings to avoid the texture bugs. I followed the instructions someone posted on a forum from day 1 and had no problems. It ran beautifully and was a great experience, only let down by the plot which fizzled out towards the end.
RAGE 1 looks deeper in its own way. How about the animations? The 1st one has one of the best animations in games (also the nicest skybox). And how the hell did they not include the Crossbow and alt ammo and the cute spider robot???
The noise at the very end of your video, the noise of opening a chest, completing a mission, opening another chest, another chest, another mission. I hear it in my sleep. BWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWM.
I really liked the sheild for one reason, it could charge overdrive almost instantly if you were in a pickle. If you get cornered, pop it hid behind it and itll suck up damage and increase your overdrive.

Wolfenstein stopped being an interesting franchise, Rage has it's chances.
Doom eternal doesnt have a release date does it? Also wanna add that bulletstorm is criminally underrated and deserves a sequel YESTERDAY. One of the most fun games I've ever played.
@@chrisg5219 no it hasnt but it is in sight...
You are totally right about bulletstorm tho ^^
8:47 Red Faction Armageddon's magnet gun.
I loved the original game. Very underrated
The combat in Rage 2 is better than Doom in my opinion.
I don't usually go for the twitchy absurd fast FPS games, but I love Rage 2. I was really surprised how well it plays with a controller.
Hell yea, it's fun asf
Gmanlives recommends Rage 2:
🎵It’s time to party, party, there’s going to be a party tonight!🎶
I dont know why this game has a lukewarm reception (mixed on steam reviews) but the combat felt so good and the environments were pretty interesting. It doesnt have much of any in your face story but never felt it actually needed one.
The car combat is pretty much an afterthough tho considering these are the creators of the Mad Max videogame and it has one massive game breaking bug... but overall this is such an underrated game. By the time i finished it, im clamoring for more. The weapons and the abilities are so satisfying
Oh wow that's so funny how I thought the Authority boss looked like a Strogg like 5 seconds before he said it.
i owned this for a year before i played it, took me a while to warm to it but i ended up really enjoying myself
Thanks for the Difficulty Advice :)
The grav dart sounds like Red Faction Armageddon's magnet gun.
That was some of the most fun I'd ever had using a weapon in a video game, even if it wasn't first person.
I think I'm sold. XD
“Australian walks to the store” simulator
I loved Rage 2 ! Tons of fun...i did every mission and try to do every achievement...Later i tried that DLC with skeletons (don't remember the name)...damn the difficulty was so high that I never finished it....still fun if you ask me ! LOVE IT !
This game - and the original - are fantastic games imo. I give them 9, 9.5 out of 10.
The first game was one of my top 5 ever games. Dead City was the highlight of the first game as well and the collectable card game which you can easily dump 10+ hours into as its almost identical to magic the gathering.
The "Shwacked" gets me every time
Awesome video dude, certainly the fairest review I seen of this game. Thank you
Looks like Crysis mated with Far Cry Blood Dragon.
Yeah, but later on it was revealed that Doom 2016 was fucking Blood Dragon behind Crysis’ back and the child was his all along. Then it was put up for adoption and raised by Mad Max.
Oliver Dekens-True 😂
Yoo Hoo Edited my reply. Thanks for the correction, but by the look of how the dash works, it might’ve been Doom: Eternal that cucked Crysis all along.
Sandstorms, Screaming Neighbors, Joyriders...
Yep, this is Australia!
Kuban energy?
0:11 Unfold that stock, maggot!
9:17 The Glaive from Krull.
You're the only guy i trust to review an FPS.
I had a blast with Rage 2. It was pleasantly different from the first. Pretty as hell on ultra settings!
Whatever Gmanlives makes, the *SCHWACKED* meme will always be there.
Just like yo' mama. *_SCHWACKED!_*
So good to know I'm living Gman's best life when I'm playing Rage 2.
Land Down Under industrial synthetic mix
Listened to your review and found all the arks first before diving into the rest of the world. Best choice ever made!!
9:39 why lie gman? aussies dont drink fosters you know this
Something I did to enjoy rage was use keyboard and mouse obviously for the gun sections and have my controller on stand by for all the driving sections. I tell you, it's night and day. Makes all the difference in enjoying the game.
Gman “You know I had to Schwak it to em” Lives
I still think its one of the best shooters there is. Toplist. I had so much fun. Played it now 3 times.
Anyone else remember a PS2 game called "Black?"
Now that was a shooter.
Had it on Xbox. Can confirm that was a classic shooter.
Gun porn; the game that one. It had the nicest sounding MP5...
Schaemhazai fun fact: that mp5 sound was taken from Die Hard
I could remember it...if it released for pc
Real gem. I wanted to uninstall in the opening but then it becomes just so fun, and the game world is so varied and interesting. I wish you could rely on some of the basic cars more though.
Guess gonna wait for discount
11:10 upping the difficulty for a better experience is great but I also don’t want to die as soon as I walk into a room.
I'm an epileptic and I appreciate you bringing up the screen effects as this is definitely a title I need to avoid. Most games are OK but this game takes the chaotic effects from Borderlands and dials them up to 11. It's a bit too much for me.
damn it , again i had high hopes for another release that has made me think about re installing an older game ( mad max ). cheers for an awesome review :D
There is Denuvo and Micxrotransactions (in a fullpriced game). No buy for me.
hawk9mm bethesda account is for preorder bonuses, hopefully Doom Eternal wont launch like this though since it uses an actually good engine and is fully Id software developed
hawk9mm Wait wait I need to have a account to play a single player game? They can fuck off very kindly and shove rage up their asses.
But I still want to play it so...torrent time
GRZ NGT Denuvo?I knew it...
Well okay pirate time then.
Playing no prob for a few days now, saw yesterday there are some coins DLC, don´t know for what and I don´t even care, and you DON´T need Bethesda.net account to play! I don´t have it... playing on PS4 and having a BLAST!! :-P
Analysis paralysis..I loved the barrier sound fx especially were great
Seems like Resistance series and Ratchet and Clank has not been topped for fun weapons
Turok beats both of them. And Wolfenstein ‘09.
5:53 “I just think it’s going to seriously damper some people’s reactions when they first play it”
You’re definitely right about that because you essentially described my experience with this game... and it really is a shame because some of your gameplay looks so much more fun than what I was doing.
Doo doo do-do-do
Dododo-do-dodo
*🎵Cue Down Under🎵*
Looks decent, not a fan of super powers, but might get this for the shooting mechanics alone.
And that shotgun sound... whoever made it deserves an award for Boomstick sound design of the year.
I feel like this is one of those titles that will be $20 within a month
hell yeah
Doom was.
Gonna wait till the end of the year to get this but damn what an improvement over the first
Good stuff Sonny Jim!
Haha great review mate, picked this up and I’ve gotta say it’s just good old fashioned fun, loving it so far!
“Only 12 people seemed to play”, huh? So the same number of people as the number of hours you spent in total on Blood. Noice.
The spider bot is so awesome. I liked alt ammo too.
yeah Rage 1's art direction was nice
As an Australian i can confirm we have Pyromanic Mutants running around the outback
This game looks cool, gotta wait for 1 more month until I'm buy my gaming pc
That's what I'm actually doing
@@sebynoone4228 oh that's cool, you gotta make video about you PC setup , it will be awesome!
You mean when your mom buys you one
@@TheRitva26 yeah my mom is pretty cool
I have this game waiting for me when I get home. Preordered the special edition to try this out
Red Faction Armageddon had a gun like the Grab Dart called the Magnet Gun. It was one of the only things that made that game any fun.
It’s crazy how quickly this game just came and went on release.
Looks good!!
Plus a modern AAA titel thats not deliberately made worse seems like a rarity these days.
If it's published by Bethesda, it's garanteed to be good (unless it's developed by Bethesda then in that case...)
@@iseeu46 or if its a mobil game or a MMORPG
Waited for you to review this, thanks for the great video!
meh I think most of us will play it cause we gotta to do something until doom eternal or borderlands 3 comes out
The noise at the very end of your video, the noise of opening a chest, completing a mission, opening another chest, another chest, another mission. I hear it in my sleep.
BWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWM.
I enjoyed the 1st, lets hope this is as good as the 1st.
So did I and Gmanlives. I wonder who the other 9 are.
@@raresmacovei8382 Eh.. Rage was basically perfect except for the ending. I have a feeling Rage 2 has too much annoying shit compared to Rage
I really liked the sheild for one reason, it could charge overdrive almost instantly if you were in a pickle. If you get cornered, pop it hid behind it and itll suck up damage and increase your overdrive.
