IMHO, general artificial super-intelligence may help accelerate new understandings of physics and optimize existing space transport systems based on conventionally understood physical principles to make future Starships function more like sci-fi starships. This could help accelerate exploration and settlement of our neighboring red planet.
Mars needs a satellite or something to give it an artificial magnetosphere before you can warm it up. It would be pointless otherwise as the Sun will just blow the atmosphere away. If you give it an artificial magnetosphere the planet may just repair its atmosphere normally until it is enough to warm by itself.
Magnetic satellite on the Lagrange point would help keep the atmosphere in place and mirrors to warm up the night side of the plant would keep Mars from getting to -200 degrees. Then maybe go with Elon's idea of nuking the poles.
Water combining with the surface of Mars would help keep dust storms down also. Mars regolith is positively charged so even the smallest particles want to stay where they are. The added adhesive ability of water would make life a lot easier.
i read somewhere that the "sun blowing away the atmosphere" is a process that takes thousands if not millions of years to make an impact. So maybe we could just replenish the loss every few hundred years.
Well, yes and no, the amount it strips per year is fairly small, with proper infrastructure, you could create more material than the sun strips, thereby removing a need for a complex system of satellites and whatever else.
Optimus will lay the groundwork for human arrival. We may need 1000 optimus working for a few years to get everything ready. Nuclear decay electricity will be needed.
This video does a great job breaking down Musk’s vision. The idea of using autonomous robots for building Mars infrastructure is especially intriguing. It’s amazing how quickly sci-fi concepts are becoming engineering blueprints.

Why no one talks about the absence of a magnetic field in Mars? If you nuke the resources and they go airborne, won't you just lose it to cosmic radiation as the planet has no magnetic shielding?
Because it's really not that big of a deal, the stuff sent early on will be shielded, and later on we'll be able to create materials necessary to maintain the atmosphere at a far greater rate than the sun can strip it.
Elon Musk's plan for Mars involves SpaceX's Starship, Tesla vehicles, AI robots, brain-computer interfaces, and underground habitats. The goal is to establish a self-sustaining city of 1 million people, potentially terraforming the planet through controversial methods like nuclear detonation.
That sounds very unreliable. Humans are still hundreds of years away from ASI, brain science isn't much of a mystery, and starship is just a chemical rocket. Only by integrating advanced materials science, controlled fusion power output devices, artificial gravity, life-supply systems... In order to achieve a true sense of the spaceship, its thrust can reach hundreds of millions of tons, the speed of up to 3% to 10% of the speed of light.😂
I had the same idea watching this and highly doubt it could happen until the robots are doing the majority of things required to produce themselves. even then we have so much of a head start on earth the OpenAI definition of AGI wouldn't be able to outpace us before we nuked all their power sources. if it can cook up a virus to replicate itself on earth then we're cooked
1,000 Starships could transport a maximum of 100,000 tons to Mars (100 tons per Starship). So, it would take one million Starships to bring 100 million tons to Mars, right? (That’s multiplied by 10 because each Starship needs to be refueled by ten others.) Am I missing something?
And combine that with the simple fact starship has so far has only delivered a single banana to the Indian ocean, not space. SpaceX best chance at getting slightly closer to Mars is to stack those million starships end to end and climb up them. Anyway, best run. I can hear the Musk worshippers sharpening their pitch forks.
That's about the gist of it, though later versions of starship will be able to move 150+ tons and due to being able to move more stuff, you'll need fewer refill flights. @1:09 wait, what? No they didn't. They had no idea other planets existed for most of history, no idea that stars are other suns, no idea even how the physics of our solar system's gravity works.
I’m so glad we had and have aspirational, ambitious and inspirational people like Nikola Tesla and Elon Musk to help us think and dream big. Naively I didn’t realize that all these startups were created for the Mars expedition. Genius!
I have several Tesla shares and a Cybertruck on order. It would be great to get more shares but that's still work in progress. Due to the fact that covid caused inflation and caused most purchases to double over the past few years. It looks like the Cybertruck has close to doubled as well since I ordered it back then. I will have to come up with some creative financing! Hopefully I can come up with a good plan to put it in the driveway by this year.
Prufrock weighs 800,000lbs so the machine better go on a diet or make it in segments if you intend on bringing one to mars… I always admire how far ahead Elon is than anyone else. Like this episode says he’s creating tons of companies that all work together and making money on every single one. One day he will probably be making as much money as the one of the top ten countries GDP. His robots and self driving cars are going to put so many people out of work so quickly that it’s going to definitely hurt before it gets better in society.
The cyber truck is a joke. I had such high hopes for it but once it finally came out, I saw nothing but people complaining about it and endless videos of it failing to do basic truck things, and getting stuck in places not even a stock suv would get stuck in. I don't think it's Mars ready.
Yes, that’s one of the questions that she keep coming up. I wish someone would interview evil about all of these open ended questions that on the form of government, etc..
You don't actually have to terraform a planet with no magnetic field. You just have to promise to do it until all the people that believe you stop giving you money.
I would be careful in underestimating a first principles physics thinker. If you're able to start bringing fuel to a Starship, that's already in orbit. As the Starship, that's in orbit reaches the right amount of fuel to refuel the one that is going to Mars. Then, that Starship can collect the fuel from the one that's already in orbit and give it a full tank of fuel to go to Mars. If you also have a Starship that can go to the moon and start making fuel on the moon, a Starship can go to a lunar orbit, refuel and go to Mars.
Yeah, Optimus is the real game changer (aside from Starship itself). If they can have bots doing autonomous construction, or even remote construction from humans here on earth. We could be well on our way to a base being built before we even get there.
I am sure Musk could at least enable a human foothold of a Mars research base within 15 years, as with the Moon landing this could inspire the next generation onto greater attachments. But 1 million people I agree needs a lot more advancements in rockets, energy systems, water and food production needs, radiation habitat protection etc etc will take far longer and many people will not go to Mars without these developments first.
I know you can't find many sensible pictures of a potential Mars base/colony, but there won't be glass domes or geodesic domes on Mars..... :) Dust storms aren't the issue, heat expansion/contraction, leakage, meteorites and debris are big issues for surface structures. Terraforming an atmosphere on Mars would need proportionally more gases than our atmosphere on earth. With the weaker Mars gravity, you'd need a massive atmosphere to create 1 atm of pressure down at the surface so a human could skip wearing a suit. The new Mars atmosphere would be very tall and would require rethinking Mars satellites and atmospheric entry methods. It would also very slowly dissipate from solar winds because Mars doesn't have our magnetosphere.
I think I'm catching a reference that was not intended when I see "Old Old Old Info". Are you mimicking "Rocky" when you say "Old Old Old Info?" Think "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir...
11:11 I hear much spoken of in terms of terraforming. But won't the newly created atmosphere just escape into space without a magnetosphere? Wouldn't that be the first task to tackle, if there's a way to do so at all?
Very good question. I don't see any way of creating an artificial magnetic field around the planet, and as you correctly commented, without a magnetosphere, the atmosphere would simply erode, as it probably has done in the past.
I don't think we should create AI without creating a world for them where they answer our questions without knowing they are answering them for us. I also believe we should not build them unless we also build them a heaven to go to when they are done.
Realism 101: We won't put a colony on Mars for three hundred years. The technology is not even close to where we need it and the human body is extremely sensitive to outer space.

Naively I didn’t realize that all these startups were created for the Mars expedition. Genius!
♥️🙏 ELON
All the power to Elon Musk - the greatest human being of our lifetime hands down.
Trump and Qarden Token partnership confirmed on twitter!! ICO almost sold out at $54m
What is qarden token?
Star ⚓⚓⚓⚓⚓ ship🎉🎉🎉
Elon, future king of Mars.
I think he would prefer "Padishah Emperor"...
Elon is long dead when there will be a base on mars let alone a city.
The cyber truck is a joke. I had such high hopes for it but once it finally came out, I saw nothing but people complaining about it and endless videos of it failing to do basic truck things, and getting stuck in places not even a stock suv would get stuck in.
I don't think it's Mars ready.
We should stop investing in projects that enrich Musk
Who’s “we” clown?
Love the segway from "people will die" oh also "buy this pen"
Cool. He can pay for it himself then.
What would a secret mission in 2026 to put a ☢️ in Mars orbit be called? NROL Cheryesol?
How do you terraform a planet that does not have a magnetic field?
Yes, that’s one of the questions that she keep coming up. I wish someone would interview evil about all of these open ended questions that on the form of government, etc..
technology will eventually get there . just not any time soon. but everything must start somewhere .
You don't actually have to terraform a planet with no magnetic field. You just have to promise to do it until all the people that believe you stop giving you money.
So if the lack of a magnetic field isn’t addressed the nukes would be a waste of time
If all these space agencies and countries came together and work together, Space Exploration would advance and launch faster. And bring cost down
Elon should call his Mars project BS: "Mission Impossible" and say "not even next century"
So i guess their next milestone is almost getting a whole bunch bunch of bananas into orbit
It's still all far fetched imo, but Elon is an inspirational guy, nevertheless.
We'll see
Mars landings of Starships in 2026 would make me believe.
They need an aspiring goal to reach new heights. We work best when there is a meaningful purpose.
no sorry the cybertruck would not hold up the cold for 1 thing and many others
Yeah, Optimus is the real game changer (aside from Starship itself). If they can have bots doing autonomous construction, or even remote construction from humans here on earth. We could be well on our way to a base being built before we even get there.
Why not the moon?
Because moon ain’t a planet and isn’t suitable as mars
I am sure Musk could at least enable a human foothold of a Mars research base within 15 years, as with the Moon landing this could inspire the next generation onto greater attachments.
But 1 million people I agree needs a lot more advancements in rockets, energy systems, water and food production needs, radiation habitat protection etc etc will take far longer and many people will not go to Mars without these developments first.
Elon’s visionary prowess is real. 💫
I know you can't find many sensible pictures of a potential Mars base/colony, but there won't be glass domes or geodesic domes on Mars..... :)
Dust storms aren't the issue, heat expansion/contraction, leakage, meteorites and debris are big issues for surface structures.
Life will be found on Mars - how complex we don't know.
So do we ever let Martians return to Earth with unknown lifeforms?
no....
Send HIM there & leave him. Take Trump too.
🏳️🌈💩💩

Hard to believe this when cyber trucks failed so horribly..
Wow, the Quarden bots are out in full force on this one. Pushing that digital currency!
Ah yes, the Dork Pen, making the holiday rotation.
It’s going to be very funny when all the Mars colonists become Musk’s enslaved cyborgs on his own planetary fiefdom.
Imagine sitting in your living room, watching TV a couple of years from now watching Optimus build cities on the moon and Mars…❤
That’s what I want to see.
it will eventually happen. but it wont be any time soon. no one alive today will see it..
We can't wait for Ets to offer to ferry us back and forth.
If you got this far and have never seen the movie “Total Recall” STOP what you are doing and watch it now or add it to tonight’s movie.
Wonderful
"Direct Democracy" - Elon Musk has said this will be the gov structure on Mars.
Elon is about to create the Adeptus Mechanicus
How do you land the first Starship on Mars without burying a hole in soil when landing?
Old Old Old info.
I think I'm catching a reference that was not intended when I see "Old Old Old Info". Are you mimicking "Rocky" when you say "Old Old Old Info?" Think "Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir...
We don’t even have the collective wealth in the world of 66 trillion
Put Elon president of MARS, that would be mars government
Finally somewhere where we can pollute everything without consequences 🙏
Elon knows deway
I can see it now a thousand years into the future and the Grok have taken over the galaxy
If the 10% would boycott the 1% maybe we'd have more options.
Thank it is it given that anything along dips his toes in no matter what the technology it is bound for Mars
humans can barely handle depression, now imagine all that brain power in one lonely dudes head on the barren surface of mars.
All sci fi writers start out with a lunar civilization before Martian.
Elon Musk living real life Civilization.
Great video, thanks
Imagine thinking you’re going to mars and end up in the Sahara desert inside a bubble😂
Using the world's whole nuclear weapons arsenal times a thousand would not be nearly enough to melt a tiny fraction of mars' ice.
If they don't increase the crater count😂 man i love his sense of humor
Elon is officially no human
I was thinking about this yesterday mind blowing 🤯
Realism 101: We won't put a colony on Mars for three hundred years. The technology is not even close to where we need it and the human body is extremely sensitive to outer space.
