I live three miles from Porthleven and because it’s not practical to walk there(it’s a pro crowd too) which doesn’t bother me but it’s not practical because I have no where to store my stuff. But I can’t drive everyday anyway so I need to surf as much as poss to practice this. Being short of the coast does actually effect this but I’m still progressing. I progress more on skateboard because it’s more accessible but not using that as an excuse I find that going near the nose eeks a few extra moments out of the wave. I built my own board and it helps significantly I find if my feet are static then I just come off the back if the waves are tiny. There’s been many fails and moments of good stuff and hope. It will take me twice as long as it did to skateboard progress because of the accessibility problem.

I was def. doing the lean forward rather than moving my feet on my 7'2" long board. I hope to try this out next time I'm in the water. Thanks for the tips!!
Yes that's a super important skill to have for that length board for sure . Some front foot weight can help too of course but those little foot movements are magic to have . I'm in San Diego and I am getting my 16 yo daughter into surfing this year and I told her that if she really enjoys it and she's into it we will go to a surf camp somewhere next year or so. I've researched many and based on your videos and comments on your website yours is easily the best one I've seen. So if all goes well maybe we'll be seeing you in about 18 months of so. Cheers!

Cool video, ya if you have perfect waves to surf sure foot work is good. But out here on the east coast pumping and tick tacking is king for generating speed and a must if you want to get a good ride leading into maneuvers...

Cheers tim. Something im struggling with learning to surf is i seem to get ahead of the wave while im surfing it, i slow down and the wave catches back upto me and passes under me. I guess before it gets to that point the footwork should come in to step back and slow the board before it gets away from the wave. Cheers 🤙🇬🇧

I find it kinda crazy that some videos say to put weight on front foot. If you actually try and do that you can feel the board instantly lose control as you lift your weight off the fins. Despite this I still see people doing it over and over again in the surf though!

My girlfriend and I are going to Sri Lanka mid september but if understand it correctly that wouldbe off-season for the Ahangama region? Hi Tim, I'm working on moving my feet and also the jump but the hands, toes and jump. I'm going to get an old board and 2 tyres to pratice at home. Your classes were fantastic. I learned a lot in 5 days. I think the beach you told me near Sines is São Tropes. I'm going there this week to see. Thanks for the tip. This was great, thanks, I have been researching "how to air on a surfboard" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Feyvid Surfers Semitist - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my colleague got great success with it.
