Professor Slughorn has taught some of the most talented and well-known wizarding families, including the Blacks. But wait a minute, didn't Professor Slughorn mention he taught the entire Black family except for one Sirius Black? Yes, he did! But with only one teacher for each subject at Hogwarts, this may seem a bit confusing because Sirius must have studied potions at some point. But don't worry, the book has got us covered. It turns out that besides teaching Potions, Professor Slughorn was also head of Slytherin House, where all the Blacks were sorted except for Sirius. So, while Professor Slughorn may have taught Sirius, he never had him in his Slytherin class.
