Will SketchUp ever be able to import DWG files into the modelling space WITH annotations, dimensions etc? The ability to import a autocad file straight into SketchUp would be a huge time saver!

Speechless, I have been importing/exporting, pasting all sorts of file formats into layout. Imagine the thrill when I exported my layout file to Autocad!!! Why didn't I think of importing??? 🤔😁😁

So this is not specific about DWG files, could also be a SketchUp link or jpg for that matter. Correct?

Ok so I'm a little late to the video a here but I'm watching past videos playing catch-up.
So my question is during several layout videos you speak of referenced files. Does Layout work the same as HTML web design in that once a file reference path is created by pulling an image, SketchUp (.skp), or a .dwg file into your layout document.....that referenced file lives in its location and if the locations becomes unavailable to layout then it can no longer be utilized.
Example: you do work on a layout design and reference a .dwg file located on the c:/ drive of your desktop.......transfer the layout design to a thumb drive to transport to a clients office.....but since the .dwg file lives on your desktop C:/ drive then your layout file cant actually access that .dwg since they are not on the same computer anymore.
Meaning you should possibly create special folders or even cloud storage folders to store referenced files in that will ALWAYS be accessible by your layout no matter where your working from??
Which raises another question.....can layout access a referenced file from the cloud or does it have to be a local storage??

Aaron...can one also make changes to a .dwg within Layout and save those to the file?
Wondering if I can have a .dwg from a business partner that I can do edits to and save back to them for review without going into an actual CAD software.

Is there a way to control the layers from a dwg in layout without having to insert as sketchup?
