He mentioned once he was part Finnish. That means he is part Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy and part Tyrannosaur from Jurrasic Park. That means he thinks if he stands perfectly still and quiet he is invisible to all people😅
THIS is truly my favorite account on RUclips. Nobody else does anything like Nick and it's a privilege to get access to his superb videos. THIS is what the internet was meant to be used for. THIS is the kind of knowledge that deserves to be shared online. THIS is the enrichment of the human condition we were promised with the information superhighway. You are a spark in the void and this enlightenment is invaluable to those of us lucky enough to have found you, Nick.
This series has been so enlightening, and really puts Galileo into clearer focus as a man, not just as a myth, in my mind. Thank you for dispelling me of so many half lies and shorthands, I really do feel like I've learned a lot and my prospective about Galileo, and more broadly science as a whole, has changed for the better.
Amazing work, always learning so much from your in depth dives into the lives of these huge figures. It's so easy to look back in hindsight to these people, I hope I never end up looking back at myself with regret in the same way lol.
I've never heard you yell into the microphone before, ParallaxNick. That was a new experience for me. 😄 Awesome video, as usual. You bring these abstracted historical scientists to life with all the TMZ-style celebrity drama you would expect when talking about real human beings who lived on this Earth. It's so easy to forget this fact. But here you are, giving us all these delightfully salacious little details. I love it! Please never stop, you're the best!
Bravo! 🌟 I especially loved your final analysis of Galileo. That’s one of the reasons why we remember him, he was a fascinating character, a fertile ground for legend. He may not have said “Eppur si muove” but it’s so satisfying to believe he thought it. Ornery characters like Newton get rewarded with fame. Meanwhile, unfortunately, nice guys like Halley get paid in books about fish. (I love that anecdote of yours!)
I'm going to have to rewatch the series. Probably several times. Its alot to unpack. Its difficult for me as well to struggle with people supporting obviously incorrect ideas and manners. And the ways which people will stoop to when they are in the wrong. It has drug me down. Over the years rewatching everything on this channel many many times, I have tried to keep perspective. The truth of history is so much different then how we are taught ... a real failing there. ...
Parallax Nick, have enjoyed your series on Brahe, Kepler, and Galileo. As someone who has read extensively on those early "scientists", I'm especially impressed by you mentioning (admitting) that no one quite understands how Galileo became a Copernican. Protestant Kepler, yes, but Italian Galileo? Mysterious.
Else-vi-e, that was a funny pronounciation I had never expected. The 'ie' in Dutch is but one sound, much like the 'ee' in 'keel' or 'ea' in 'read' in English. It did however nothing to take away any of the quality of your video, loved it nonetheless!
There are probably very few people, if any, that have more knowledge about Galileo off the top of their head than you at the moment. Thank you for yet another excellent video with amazing production values. Also, wow, 37k followers? You're starting to shoot up. So great to see you finally starting to get some of the recognition you absolutely deserve. I don't know what mic you currently use, but even a Blue Yeti has USB plug in and would be a not too expensive way to really improve the sound quality on your videos. Although I'll be honest, it'll likely be weird hearing you in high quality compared to the college project video essay type quality you currently have. Oh, it looks like Logitech bought Blue and are going to stop the product line, but you should be able to find one for about $120 or less USD, brand new, as the news only really dropped yesterday. I used the mic for my streaming, and I never had an issue with the quality.
But Galileo spoke truth to power and power did what it always does. It stomped on the truth teller. The more things stay the same, the more they stay the same.
I think that Galileo is the father of *modern* science because of his emphasis on mathematical quantitative rather than verbal qualitative description of physical laws. On another channel I've heard that Aristotle was the father of science and that Aristotle would have agreed with Galileo based on the new information that Galileo had that Aristotle lacked. Maybe you could explore Aristotle and his take on physics next?
Love how you try to match a classical Italian portrait to people who had none...better than stick people 😂 Galileo was a bombastic bastard but he did put his money where his mouth was (cue the "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!" meme) Thanks Nick, awesome history lesson 👏
@@parallaxnick637 I'm doing my part in suggesting your videos. It'd be awesome to see something about John Harrison and his marine chronometer. Like a passing of the torch from astronomy to mechanics.
Sometimes I feel Zeus incarnated onto Earth just to stare at himself 😂😂😂 Like as soon as they had telescopes he was like “HOLD MA BEER” You know he would legit 💯% do that too
So should we still say that those who do not read the lesson-messages of history are doomed to repeat them ,actually cannot avoid them, being absolutely embedded in Eternity-now Actuality, this Eventual Historical Interval. Individually, "merely human", collectively.., ONE-INFINITY.
I've tried reading Machiavelli. It is difficult to keep at. I am not certain how much of it is correct or not. I certainly can say I dislike things in it. But there are ways which people act which I dislike and cannot cope with. There are things which are just 'wrong'. Some ways which people act are just stupid. Galileo ...
A criminally underated content creator, the clear depth of passion and research in this series alone is astounding. Bravo Nick
Exactly the words I had in mind while listening to this

Nick, David Kipping and John Michael Godier uploading on the same day is a blessed one.
My favourites also
Mine too!
hahahahaha, yessssssssssssssssssss
Thank you Nick! This has been one of my favorite series. ❤️
Love the humor in your commentary , every time !👍🏻 Thanks for another great piece of (hard) work!

Some of the best content on RUclips. Always a pleasure when Nick uploads.
Ah... The wonderful truth about a VERY stubborn (but historically very important) man!
Well done!
Great series. Thanks for all the hard work
I kept meaning to listen to the audio all week, but it's been an exceptionally busy week! Thank goodness it's finally Sunday!
I think this may have been your best series yet. I can't wait for Newton!
After Nick does a video on Galileo’s household pets, I’ll feel complete.
Awesome!! Can’t wait to have a listen!
Nick, another amazing chapter in another phenomenal series. Thank you!
Some interesting details add much to this man’s story. Nicely done, good series.

Bellissimo !

Sublime as always 👍
Another masterpiece
Perhaps the most instances of Nick yelling in any video yet
Still waiting for this channel to take off. It’s up there with Astrum and Sea

Everything hs kinda slowed down as I attempt to up my output with short videos, but Newton is on the horizon.
Well done PN! Can’t help but feel for all he did, tis a sad tale.

Btw, have you considered offering this documentary to schools as teaching material. I think it could be very insightful to students.

When I get my views up enough to justify another hourlong video
