Back then, no autotune, no voice effects (other than a little reverb), no digital drums, no sequencers, just raw analog human perfection. These days, anyone with the right look and attitude can be a "pop star" with all of the digital music prosthetics available. Missing Persons was the real deal.

Yeah, I agree...should have had more chart success. They fit in a neat spot between rock and poppy new wave. For me they had a kick ass drummer who played whatever he wanted and his wife was the singer and attractive. Alot of 'artsy' tempo, synth sound, texture stuff. But it sure wasn't bland drivel like alot of new wave.

Oddly, recently I've been thinking about the most overrated and underrated bands of all time. Missing Persons is at the top of my list. They legitimized New Wave. Spring Session M is a serious top notch effort. Dale is the best female front of all time. She has untouchable vocals. Kinda cutesy, but so strong. The lyrics are forever relevant. She's a complete badass. The only other female that I could compare her to is Wendy O. Williams. They are complete pioneers. Unapologetic genre drivers.

This band definitely kicked ass back in the day. The so called music industry burned them and buried them into oblivion, thanks to You Tube the new generations can learned that good music is timeless. For me one of the greatest rock progressive bands ever with smarts lyrics and outstanding virtuosity...twenty thumbs up!!

    • @iamcase1245
      @iamcase1245 Месяц назад +1

The industry didnt burn them. The drummer was the leader of the band and his ego got out of control. The 1st album was a classic at a time (1982) were their sound was still new and innovative. The 2nd album was more of the same with less energy and the 3rd album was absolute trash at a time when synth-pop was already getting old and tired (1986).
The missing persons were a great band but they sadly just got less innovative with time, add to that the fact that they were driven by an egomanaic and it's not a good recipe for success.

I always thought this band was stunningly good. One night after one of
their performances, I accidentally ran into Dale Bozzio. I got a chance
to talk to her for a while. I found her to be a highly intelligent,
super nice woman. She did not have to talk to me for so long, but she
did anyway and she had wonderful vibrations. Because it was an
accidental meeting, I had nothing for her to sign after the show and she
knew it. So she signed my T-shirt that I was wearing. She wrote: "Thank
You for Being Such a Great Fan, Love Dale Bozzio". When I got home I
immediately placed the T-shirt on my living room wall and I never wore
it again. She is a kind woman and so talented. I will never forget that.

Haven't seen Missing Persons since 1980-something at the Ventura County Fair - my 1st concert - and get to see them tonight with Bow Wow Wow -- SO EXCITED!!! Glad they're touring still. Have been trying to catch them for over a year now. Great way to start 2019!!!

I know this comment I'm replying to is 3 yrs old but Missing Persons today consists of on Dale and whoever she hires for musicians. I highly doubt that Terry, Warren, Patrick, and Chuck would ever join for a full blown re-union. At best Dale could get Warren to do a gig.
Saw them twice in 83 and also 84, were amazing live!

I like this kit Terry's that used to play. That 20" Sound Creation Dark China with the 14" 505 hi-hat stacked on top sounded real wicked. Very cool set. One of my favorite drummers.

Terry was the drummer with the best & unique Style in combination with his style of fantastic drumming ♥ All breaks and beats are for me the most beautiful drum design, which I know! ♥

Missing Persons opened with this song both times I saw them 1982 and 1984. Very sophisticated musicians. Like Toto, when the Persons played live the lead guitar was turned way up---making them sound more rock and roll than their records. Don't know why producers buried Warren (and Luke) in the mix. At least you can hear the drums.

Very unique. Extremely hot people with master skills. The two synthsters need more cred. Playing the bass track and all the quirky atmospheres making them rise from basic... So very strange they wasn't marketed globally. Found out about them recently and noone knows about them here in northern europe.

Greetings from 🇺🇲 ! 🙂 ..Such a great "missed the target" 🎯 80s band ! Just saw a reincarnation of Missing Persons August '23 at an "80s reunion fest" = "LOST 80s" type concert at Anaheim, CA. at "Honda Center", where I work. 😏 Actually got to meet and say "hi" to lead singer 🎤 babe Dale Bozzio !! 😍 ... ☆Their 1982 album "Spring Session M" is absolutely *EPIC* imho, 🏆 ...and definitely check out their live videos from the SoCal "US Festival" in 1983 ! ... *FABULOUS !* 🤘😎👍
