"it's not difficult to hang on to a ladder"
A rope ladder with no lean, in the sky, in movement ? My ass would have dropped about 30 seconds in.
This is not the first time Davina McCall has appeared on Doctor Who, as she gave her voice to Davinadroid in the 'Bad Wolf' episode in the year 2005.
Davina is very famous in the UK. She used to host big brother, now is on masked singer and lots in between but she also presents long lost family which is what this was all about.
Davina Lucy Pascale McCall MBE (born 16 October 1967[1]) is an English television presenter. She was the presenter of the reality show Big Brother during its run on Channel 4 between 2000 and 2010. She also hosted Channel 4's Streetmate (1998-2001, 2016), The Million Pound Drop (2010-2015), Five Minutes to a Fortune (2013), and The Jump (2014-2017), as well as ITV's The Biggest Loser (2011-2012), Long Lost Family (2011-present), and This Time Next Year (2016-2019). McCall was a regular co-presenter of the Comic Relief annual telethons from 2005 to 2015...........she plays the host of herself in doctor who Long Lost Family (2011-present) in which she tries to find lost siblings , son daughters, parants of people in real life, and was in the show as herself as she very well known here in the uk, they use the show in doctor who to help find rubys parents hense the interview at the start of the ep
yeah alright, Doctor Google 🤣
Funny thing is Davina has technically been on Doctor Who before in s1 Bad Wolf/The parting of the ways when the Doctor was in the big brother house on the game station.
yeah that was so weird! Just her voice wasn't it@@jamesm5503
@@rickysfilmreviews3825 They missed out Gods Gift which was an ITV late night dating show ;) 1996 - 1998
love yooou 😏@@dannyinchley2984
No need to apologize for spending time with your family. Hope you’re having a good holiday!
What a great first episode for Ncuti & Millie. He’s amazing as the doctor, and has great doctor-companion chemistry with Millie.
Spring can’t come soon enough.
Hi Derek just to let you know, here in the UK on BBC One, we got a different version of the ending. After the doctor says "I am the doctor" we went straight to the end credits, however a few seconds into them they stopped and then we got the end scene with Anita Dobson. Strange how the rest of the world got a different version on Disney
I’m fascinated what your credentials are concerning climbing rope ladders being dragged up in to the sky 😂
Cabins McCall is a well known presenter , Mrs Flood is Anita Dobson , an actress who was in a popular soap , wife of guitarist extraordinaire Brian May of Queen . This was fun , Christmas specials are always one offs - liked Ncuti & Millie as a pairing and I enjoyed it .
Anita Dobson has been in everything from East Enders to Red Dwarf. She's also married to Brian May of Queen.
I have two main comments here: 1) the Goblin Song is STILL stuck in my head. It might have been a bit too catchy. And 2) While I'm curious about the mystery of who Mrs. Flood is, I'm more concerned about that crack in the ceiling. The only thing that makes me more nervous in Doctor Who than a crack is an angel statue. Is it JUST a crack in the ceiling, or is it a crack in the fabric of reality or a crack between dimensions? So for me for the coming season, my two main concerns are that crack and Mrs. Flood.
Pond - River - Flood.
Lots of breadcrumbs laid for future seasons in this Christmas special.
God I love when people in America are like, "who the frig is this British TV personality?!" 🤣
Basically, if this TV show was the other way around (American) she would be Jimmy Kimmel or something!
Thank you, Derek! ⏳ I loved it. This run is gonna be fun.
I really liked the Church on Ruby Road. It was just fun! I loved Ncuti. I love that the sonic screwdriver has more capabilities. I loved Millie as Ruby. Ncuti and Millie have excellent chemistry. Ruby actually feels like a real three-dimensional person. I miss Russell's writing companions. I will say, it felt like Ruby was just totally okay with everything going on. I was waiting for her “WTF is going on” freakout. But that looks like that’s coming at the beginning of the next episode. She did say that it's all been so manic she hasn't had time to process and at the end of this episode she did do the “it’s bigger on the inside‽” without actually saying it. And it was awesome! (Ruby is also the same age as Rose Tyler.) I loved her mother and grandmother. I thought the song was a lot of fun and I loved that Fifteen improvised on the spot. However, once again, Ruby did not lose it at what was happening threw me for a bit. I honestly thought this was going to end with the doctor calling for Ruby’s bio mom’s attention like Twelve did with Bill’s mom. Kind of glad he didn’t. I figured there was something up with Mrs. Flood because of her reaction to the Doctor going in and out of the TARDIS but that fourth wall break really shocked me! And she mentions way back in her first scene that she hasn’t seen one in 50 years. They brought back “mavity” and I’m wondering if that’s a puzzle piece in the mystery box. I hope we see more of Ruby’s friends. And did anyone else really like that cop character? Fun fact: the snowman scene was added at the request of Disney because they did some scene tests and people said that there wasn't enough of Ncuti in the quarter of the episode. And I think the scene really works. Reminded me of both the Doctor introducing himself in "The Waters of Mars" and the line "I'll just step into this police box and arrest myself from the episode "Planet of the Dead." Questions: Who are Ruby’s parents? Who is Mrs. Flood? Why does she drop the bags in shock in the dark timeline if she knows what a TARDIS is? Is Mrs. Flood connected to Ruby’s parents? Is all of this connected to The One Who Waits?
honestly doctor who has always been super iffy on how much regular people care about the supernatural
There is no need to apologize. I am old enough to know family is important; however, one define family.
7:56 and she couldn't wait until after the holidays to tell l her that?
Houdini the bottom 😭😂
ive said it on many reactors and i expect to be proved wrong when we find out but i think Mrs Flood (the lady at end) is The Rani. i think she believes shes the last Timelord like the doctor does and didnt think much of the box calling it a police box from 60s but when she sees it disappear she cheers up with everyone and calls it a Tardis at end. Mrs Flood (rain) Rain anagram is Rani.
Hmmm...Mrs. Flood? What floods...maybe a ...River?
I'm obsessed with The Goblin Song and I'm annoyed that it wasnt Christmas Number 1.
Or even charted 😔
It's definitely entertaining. It is STILL stuck in my head a week+ later, though!!!
Dear Sleepy Waffles, Ruby cannot go back in time to meet/save her mother as she is never seen again (according ot this episode). We all know what happened when Rose Tyler went back in time and saved her father from the accident that kills him. The Tardis, Doctor, Jackie, Pete and all the people in the church get attacked by monstrous creatures that clean up time variants. So no, going back for her mum is not a possible story line IMO.
I'm not thinking she goes back to save her. But her own motivation for joining the doctor might be to try and meet her at least. She doesn't know that her mother wasn't seen again
Ruby--same age as Rose when she became a companion, blonde, name that, like Rose, can refer to the color red. (Name also a play on the song "Ruby Tuesday," as an aside. More like an _Avengers_ (the TV show, not Marvel) type of name than DW, really.)
A May return.... a long time coming. Patience is the key for these slow burners and Jinxx Monsoon?. Pity you guys outside the UK don't get behind the scenes show, DW Unleished afterwards. 😅
I thought Mrs Frost was the classic who companion (maybe third?) Jo Grant?

👍
You missed the end scene!
Which one?
Just checked, I didn't miss anything
@@SleepyWaffles There was an extra scene in the middle of the credits
@@SleepyWafflesI’m sorry I didn’t see that you watched it just saw that sorry
@NoahAG no there isn't. The last scene is her saying "never seen a tardis before". That scene is in my video
Another Scottish doctor and Ncuti has to wear a stick on moustache as the doctor because he struggled to grow facial hair after playing a teenager for four years on sex education
you never held onto rope in your entire life didn't you? Especially not with your whole body weight.
Haha I have actually! I've done a decent amount of rope climbing. Plus they were on a ladder, not just a rope
@SleepyWaffles difference here is that they are dangerously high up with zero safeguards in case of falling, Ruby probably hasn't done any rope climbing and so doesn't have that experience, they are in a very stressful situation and their hands would probably be a bit sweaty cuz of that, and zero reason NOT to use the gloves to minimize the risk of losing grip or slipping.
Just wrap your arms and legs around the wrungs of the ladder?
