- I've always wanted to do a movie reaction/commentary of some sort. It probably won't be an every week situation, but I'm happy to try. Feel free to recommend any movies. :)

fyi you pause to much, no one watches a movie like that, you suck
Yeah, it really is super cringey and disorienting to look at the pauses all the time. I'm really sorry.
What are you even going on about? Plenty of people pause on RUclips reactions because it’s better than talking over the video.
He just shared his opinion. But she doesnt "suck" because of that. give critics, but give good one mate. This kind of doesnt help no one
This was my favorite reaction to the movie (I've watched most of them, over 10 at least) due to her pauses for commentary, critique, and her information sharing. Maybe you just need to watch somebody else if it's not your cup of tea.
I actually appreciated you pausing the film. A lot of reaction videos have the viewers talking through critical plot points, or obsessing over ridiculous things they would understand if they stopped talking through the film. You took the time to be critical, give good analysis of what you saw, and you didn't miss anything.
Awww, thank you
As someone who has been a passionate fan of the manga for 20 years, I LOVED the movie.
The movie was incredibly faithful, especially if you take into account the movie adapts both the manga and the OVA. Of course there were a bunch of changes, they merged the first 2 arcs into one to make it fit into a movie, but it was done very well.
I've never seen such a bug and respectful love letter to the source material.
As for Hugo, it's a pity his backstory was cut for time. It would have made his character deeper and his obsession for Zalem more understandable.
Also, in the manga it's clear he's a teenager, while in the movie they probably didn't dare to depict him that young because love and kisses are, by some, considered as inappropriate for teens. And since Alita has no memories, she's basically a teen too.
So it's only normal that there's this teenage romance going on for a while.
If you liked the movie I strongly recommend the manga.
Its original name is GUNNM, but in some countries it's changed to Battle Angel Alita. And Alita's real name is Gally, but that got changed too, in some countries.
@FIGHTFANNERD9 poor attempt at trolling
I think I havent seen a review that goes that deep into the visual details.
Even Corridor Crew left me a bit disappointed with their 3 minute washover after thousands of people requested.
I was astonished about all the details you picked up just the first time watching.
Great break downs. But it was cool to see that you was not able to 100% discern if her full body is CG or just some parts. This is a great compliment to WETA.
I completely forgot to reply to this but thank you so much! I learned a lot through Corridor Crew after watching their take and I wouldn't have known it was WETA who worked on the movie if it weren't for them. :D I still feel very nervous about this reaction because it's suppose to be a "reaction", and pausing to look at all the visual details is something I naturally do when given the opportunity. It's a very annoying habit haha
Either way, thank you for watching :)
bayobayo, thank you for letting me experience the excitement all over again through your eyes! Super fun stuff. Maybe if you have a friend who hasn't seen it, do the same thing with them, it's pretty addictive!
Aww thanks so much, man. I loved doing this but sad to say, doing it with someone else is a long shot. Either way, I'm glad you watched the video. Feel free to recommend any other movies.😊
My sisters took me to it for my birthday; saw it in 3D .. and again about a month later with my brother (he NEVER goes to movies, and I go maybe twice a year tagging along usually). It was actually filmed in 3D, as usually computers create it after filming .. this was filmed with TWINNED BIG camera's. I'm not a 3D fan but this one it actually looked normal. Nothing wrong with the 2D though; particularly on the computer as you are close to the screen. The romance, reviews did not like it; but I remembered that we have to see it through HER eyes and not OUR eyes as we have our doubts about him almost from the start, so we don't quite believe he is really falling for her that fast. The scene with the heart is brilliant as she is really questioning if he really does love her as she sits in the window, knowing he spent the night drinking with Victor who she does not trust. The "heart" is her making him show his cards .. if that is what you want take it .. and he is realizing his plans are falling apart as he cannot do her harm. Anyway, that's how I saw it.
That's definitely a great way of looking at it, the "heart scene" I mean. After watching the movie, I went back and tried looking at the events through Alita's eyes, and I suppose it was pretty easy to see how attractive Hugo generally was, especially in just the first scene we meet him. This film really did a great job in the 3D of course. :)
@@bayobayo I thought you did a nice job of it.
Exactly! Sure, the romance wasn't the best, but it wasn't supposed to be by any means.
1. It is meant to be a corny teenage love story. At this point in the game, Alita is a corny adorkable teen. Who else exclaims "YOW!" at the sight of a giant floating city? Who else would expect an impassioned speech for comraderie to actually be effective at a tough guy bar?
2. Yes. It is SUPPOSED to be one-sided. Even the source material makes it clear that Hugo/Yugo only saw Alita as a means to an end. This version makes him a bit more sympathetic, giving him a mostly genuine turn by the kissing scene.
3. This is a subplot. Of an action movie. If the romance were the strongest part of an action movie....it might not necessarily be an action movie.
4. Double standard?
Male action hero: falls in love with the first attractive pair of boobs that banters back at him? No big deal. We go with it. We lowkey root for him.
Female action hero: Shows signs of interest in the first attractive guy who gives her attention and/or kindness? Oh no! She's BoRn SeXY YEsTeRDay! PROBLEMATIC!
How real Alita looks and the way she interacts with human actors really screws with your mind.
Yup, but somehow the longer I watched the easier it is to forget the screwing ever happened, haha. Thank you for watching
nice review. It is a bit strange though, hearing someone be so critical (in a good way) of cutting edge work that literally no one but Weta digital could do, but then not have read anything about the process that made Alita. If you are as interested in the lighting and shot effects as you sound, I really think you would enjoy a lot of the "behind the scenes" vids about this movie. The performance capture Weta did, coupled with the VFX crew, all done in *native* 3D, is nothing short of amazing. They aren't using keyframe animation for most of this. Beyond just being a great movie, this was a technical achievement in its own right.
I definitely don't doubt how much of an achievement this movie is in all aspects, now that I've done a little bit more digging into it. All the behind the scenes stuff is incredibly enlightening and I'm so glad I actually gave this movie a shot. I'd be lying if I fully understood how Weta works the way it does but even I can tell it's amazing. Thank you so much for watching the video. ❤
Although the romance was very quick and "cheesy", it can be partially explained since she emerged as a 14 year old girl who is seeing a boy for the first time (puppy love); at the end she becomes an 18 year old woman. This movie has a strong protagonist, heart , and does not have social justice messages unlike a lot of movies today. It has an enthusiastic fanbase with >120,000 signers of a petition for a sequel. Jon Landau (producer) has suggested tat people tell Disney (they bought Fox who made the movie) directly if they want a sequel. Production was $170 million; it made $80 million in the US ($404 million total), which is why it needs support to get a sequel. James Cameron was interested in making an Alita movie since 1990s, and gave it to Rodriguez to direct. Cameron has plans for possibly 2 more movies if a sequel is gets a green light.
To learn more about Alita see my DEEP Alita videos, buy those Blu-rays baby! #AlitaArmy
Every single inch of Alita is CG throughout the entire movie, bet that blew your mind (but you probably knew this by now).
Actually the Romance on this story is on point it's very realistic if you think about it. Hugo grew up in a harsh environment learning how to survived. Yeah he's not a good character but when he met Alita everything has changed. Alita changes people around her for good. Even Hugo is starting to realize if his dreams are still worth trying for, he started to think to live a simple life in Iron City with Alita. He wants to changed for good but things doesn't work out. I hope Alita grows maturely in the process I want to see more of her.
I loved all your pauses. Your brain is a wonder.
Hahaha that's greatly appreciated ❤💙💚💛💜
@@bayobayo I'm just grateful you made this video. It shows both how awesome audiences can be and how perceptive you yourself are. Most of reaction videos don't do it this way. 🤷♀️
How you didnt recognized Edward Norton? Overall nice review .. maybe too critical ;)
PS: .. exactly like my comment :D
Is it bad that I've seen all the anime you mentioned in this video ? :)
Nice reaction . As a fan of the manga I think this live-action adaptation is better than the anime adaptation!
I think that's awesome. Nice to know fellow veteran otakus are out there haha. And I should've thought to include the anime adaptation in the video as well, but I'm glad you brought that up. Thanks so much. :)
It's about time you seen it lol.
I wished you would had seen it in IMAX 3d. That was on another level
5 Stars! I tuned in for a reaction video and got a detailed technical analysis! I applaud you for being able to discern so much detail in such a bad viewing environment! You just got yourself a like and a subscribe. You seem very talented and should be doing something in the technical arts field at the very least... A LOT of movies could benefit from someone with your skills going over their cinematography and CGI before release!
This honestly made me so happy last week when I first read this comment. I'm so sorry I replied so late. Thank you so much ; u ;
The big dude might look familiar cos he played Freddy Kruger. Jashugun (Jai Courtney) was in Terminator Genisys and a few other things.
For me, all of Alita's body movements are so fluid that I find myself subconsciously assuming that it's an actress wearing gloves on the wide shots.... completely forgetting about the face, lol.
Glad you enjoyed it. At least there was one bit of plot that you weren't able to predict XD
Wait. FREDDY KRUGER!? Now THAT'S something I didn't expect. Thanks so much for telling me. :D And yet, I think I get what you mean by subconsciously thinking it's just a person with gloves. In my head, I just completely accepted that this cyborg was real and everything she did was real, so the movie definitely did a good job. Thank you so much for watching 💜
@@bayobayo Kruger was first played by Robert Englund, Jackie Earl Haley took over the role in the more recent installments. It's interesting that they hired Haley, a man of small stature, to to play the tallest character in the film.
@@Seele2015au It is. He wasn't the only one to have his height adjusted; Rosa's 5'3" but Alita is 5'1" in the doll body and 5'4" in the Berserker and Kinuba is taller than the guy who played him too.
Alita battle Angel challenge is still on going let’s get a sequel. #AlitaArmy
Hey here's a suggestion, If you don't like the CGI and got offended because the it looked weird in some frames, Why don't you do it, I wanna see you make as good of a movie as it was, cause obviously doing CGI is that easy according to you, So why don't you do it.
Oof. If I thought I was smarter and better than everybody, what a sad life that would be. I'm glad I'm annoying enough to stupidly pause at every detail I can to gaze and admire them when possible, but I'm sorry you saw that. :) Either way, thank you for watching the video enough to know what I liked and didn't like.
1. You need to enunciate better.
2. You forgot about the eyes after about 10 minutes, didn't you.
3. This was really good in IMAX 3D. Usually, 3D is pretty gimmicky, but the used it really well in this film. You missed out.
1. Yeah. Little difficult to do in a noisy environment but I'll try better next time. :)
2. Absolutely.
3. Dang. At least there was a n actual movie with good rep for 3D this time. Thanks for letting me know and for watching :)
just FYI, the reason the 3D was so great in this was it was actually shot in native 3D, not added digitally- ie, they shot it with dual cams for almost all the framing shots.
Yeah she sounds like she's hungover. I appreciate her efforts and applaud her making the vid.
@@SeahawkScott haha I was mostly just tired, but I can see why that's easy to mistake 😂
I went into the theater having read the manga long ago, so I expected to expect everything. I never thought about how predictable the story might be for someone else. Glad you liked the movie anyway.
I delayed seeing it for two weeks because I was terrified it would be a botch of the manga, but they did a great job. Your review was excellent!
Aww, thank you so much.
Glad you liked Alita!! Great movie!! If your struggling financially, you could set up a patreon.
Alita is underrated
Alita doesn't kill for fun.
Cool you use the Hans Zimmer soundtrack of Interstellar :-)
Whoops. If you're referring to the music I used when talking, then I think you've mistaken it. I used "Drifting Away From The World" by TeknoAXE :)
This was a passion project for James Cameron. Though he did hand it off to Robert Rodriguez, he gave him access to all the equipment and staff for the new Avatar movie. So I'm sure that this was a test bed for things that we'll see in the new Avatar movie. BTW, great review.
Also respectfully true to the anime and manga
Great review. I loved the movie. Great effects and CGI. The Rosa's work was phenomenal.
We need a sequel, any of you guys know when it's coming out?
my god just watch and enjoy the film without pausing and analyzing every single shot
Aw, that IS how some people enjoy it! It's like watching a magic trick, and trying to see how it's done.
Very cool commentary
Thank you very much 😊
@@bayobayo
Very nice catch. The chocolate bar to the doors of the factory and symbol of Zalem. I didnt catch that till after my 3rd viewing.
@@Fire91ful hahaha, I'm glad somebody else noticed it as well :D
The best movie, what I' ve ever seen.
Rise 9️⃣9️⃣
That is not Beast/"What a lovely day" guy (Nicholas Hoult. It's Ed Skrein. Edit: You noticed later on.
Yes, I mention it later that I realize it was Ajax from Deadpool, then even later in the video :)
You might want to check out this RUclipsr 's website: Jaya Nice day He discusses anime films in general, and has > 25 videos on Alita that explains the manga, anime, and movie. I find him very informative.
You do know Alita predates Air Gear by a couple decades, right?
Haha yes. That was part of the joke 😂
EEW did you just watched A:BA for the first time in in 1080p that's a sacrilegious sin against our Angel 😜😝
I don't know if it's watching it in 1080p or watching it for the first time that's sacrilegious, but this comment is funny, so I love it. Thank you for watching
Is the CGI & mocap really that much better than Andy Serkis as Gollum, from almost 20 years ago?
Very interesting way to analyze a movie, as an artist!
Oooh. I didn't even think about it that way. Thank you for pointing that out. :)
This is my first time to see someone analyzes a movie like this. I mean, I am a painting person, I like to see the every details of art. So you inspired me about how to watch movie in a different way. However I love this movie of coz, hope you enjoy it and tell more your friends to watch Alita. Good review!
It's "The Lawnmower Man"!
Cool reaction! The pauses are very interesting, and your take on everything is so refreshing. :) You much watch the "behind the scenes, though. type this in RUclips: "alita kansas bar fight scene + deconstruction: alita battle angel special features behind the scenes".
I enjoyed your reaction video of Alita. You made some good comments and predictions along the way. I couldn't make this kind of video, because I try to turn my critical brain off so I can enjoy the movie. Second viewing is when I go back and critique. I agree that the teen romance angle was the weakest part of the movie, but I still felt Alita's pain at losing Hugo. I saw Alita four times in the theater and there were several times i could tell people around me were moved to tears...
26:45 -They know each otherlong enough to kiss!
Great movie watch review! Thank you for supporting this movie, please encourage video sales and rentals , tell others about it. There are 2 hours of extras also on the video and Digital release. Let's get those sequels *_#EjercitoDeAlita_*
Your review was very informative and it was fun seeing your reaction 👍
Great video
did you watch this on different days? cause your hair and clothes look different on some of the shots
it was all filmed in the same day, but in different times. :)
11:32 There's a bloody teenage romance. 😁 But it's not a big focus, didn't bother me anyway.
Are you editing your own video?just asking
Yes. Yes, I am. :)
@@bayobayodo you like demon slayer too?

The terrors this world would face haha
Do you live on a race track???
Unfortunately, no haha
Good video, Alita Battle Angel is one of the best movies of the year ..! I recommend that you read the Manga, it is very long but it is an incredible story! Alita's full story is very complicated. y esperando la secuela. Greetings. #AlitaArmy #AlitaBattleAngel #Gunnm #Gally
Its less cgi and more motion capture i believe

Why do you hate teenagers and romance so much?
Again with the strange disgust of affection and romance. Were you ever a teenager? I'm having doubts. You say "You've only known him for a few days" and yet that's often how it goes when you're young.
"I'm not feeling anything" Yeah. Not surprised considering you were instantly disgusted at the very possibility of romance in the film from the beginning.
@@JoshTheAmazingAnimator Welp. I guess you're right. I was never a teenager hahaha
But in all seriousness, I'm sorry I offended you with the romance. I didn't mean to make it look like I hated adolescence and teen romance with every fiber of my being. I'll try to be a little bit more clear next time. Thanks for telling me your concern and watching the video ❤
Chobits!
Over analytical. If you continue to be like this your life will be absorbed by apathy.
Exactly! She's a fucking sociopath.
