I gotta say this show is unreasonably well filmed for a TV show from the 60s

What a spectacular final episode! I remember watching this series on American television when it first came out. The ability to resist authority was a primary objective in my teenage life at the time, because my father was a domineering and very abusive man. This show was one of the principle reasons I was able to remain my own person in the face of his abuse. Thank you for making this episode available here.

Was amazing the secret (until the final episode) of the actual village where the outdoors scenes were filmed. I had the great chance that my wife treated me for my 40th birthday by staying a long weekend in Portmeirion. Fantastic and atmospheric place expecially the evening when all the tourists have left.

The Beatles were huge fans of Patrick McGoohan, and for a very nominal fee allowed All You Need is Love to be used on the program - the ONLY time The Beatles allowed their music to be used for any commercial purposes. Patrick McGoohan was a genius, way way ahead of his time...and as far as predictive programming: the ones wearing the black and white masks (showing that the activities they represent can be used for good, or evil) such as entertainment, activists, education, sports, broadcasting, etc. which are the ways the powers that be use to control the world......now, hear the Word of the Lord !!!

@@Tonywization Hammer Into Anvil is IMO the best because it’s all Number 6’s plan all the way through. My second and third favourite episodes (not sure in which order) are A, B & C and Schizoid Man. Both show 6 being fooled, but then realising the fact and turning the tables, But I was and am an absolute addict to the whole series, ever since the rerun on ITV in the 1970s.
People don’t realise that Fall out is a masterpiece because it’s an allegory nobody gets: Number Six is Number One: his own worst enemy.

This episode of this iconic program has never been surpassed. A ground breaking moment in British television. Unlike the rubbish we see today. None of it comes anywhere near it, psychotically, prophetically or realistically. A work of genius, only
understood by those who watch the previous 16 episodes. Watch them, what you see is happening RIGHT NOW.

In the speech that the former Number Six gives, while the assembly drowns him out with "I, I, I," , Six is explaining (practically shouting and screaming) WHY he resigned. Yet it's all now a moot point, everyone running the Village understands now why Six resigned, it was so that Six could be an individual again and not be a number within the bureaucracy of being a secret agent.
By resigning from being a secret agent, Six earned his place in the Village.
By resisting the Village, Six earned his freedom.

It's true. This is the greatest example of television art, second only to Ernie Kovacs, who will always rein supreme. What does it for me is just the fact that all this craziness was the result of full production; sets, props, direction, location, the works. Real work went into this. What balls. Really terrific.

There was a feeling of hope and joy that suffused things, London typified that, a London fought for tooth and nail in WWII, Alas and alack no longer, London has now been surrendered and now typifies something else, within a prevailing sense of something approaching despondency.

The assembly of the Penny Farthing co-ordinates perfectly with that lovely catchy theme music... At the very end, we have a prolonged view of the rear support strap in position, as the last piece of the assembly, until the fade out ( that did not happen on all the earlier episodes ).....

I believe that movement and sound on his door, was signifying what the Eagles made a line of in 'Hotel California'; ''We are all just prisoners here, of our own device...''
He may have escaped The Village, but merely escaped one gaol (back)into another...
As much as Patrick McGoohan's style of performance has always rubbed me the wrong way, I will say this: The man was a visionary, and he saw the world for what it truly was then, and what it's become now 👍👍👍👍

You need an old 1967 penny or before with a port culus on. You flick it high up till it reaches it's maximum height then watch it fall. When it lands you see which side is facing up. If it has the Port Culus showing (Prison Gates) you flick it up again till the Port Culus is face down. Then you are 'free'. But you mustn't then pick up or touch the penny. Your choice. Port Culus or Freedom.

As much as McGoohan was the headline actor, most of this episode truly belonged to Alexis Kanner...
I always wondered why his name appeared in a box in the opening, but I suspect I'll never find that out unless I can reach McGoohan on a Ouija Board, and even then, I'd bet his answer would only be ''Why do *you* think? Be seeing you...'' 🥴🥴🥴🥴😖😖😖😖

He nearly employed the "5 Whys" in this episode, a system implemented by Toyota to get to the root cause of a problem.
He asked "why" 4 times. Basically splitting the difference between the 3 and 5 whys approach.
They basically tried to placate him into being a figure head instead of telling why they felt justified in doing such things to individuals.
I wonder if the method was intentionally used, probably not.
The system was apparently created in the 1930s, became widely used in the 70s and adopted by lots of businesses.
