It is an automatic tensioner as it's designed to adjust itself according to wear of cam chain. It does it via the internal spring which pushes the plunger out. If you really are SO UTTERLY DUMB to ask this question then i will answwr it for you. I pulled this automatic tensioner out BECAUSE IT FAILED !
Excuse me looking at your video I hear a knocking or rattle on your zx9r before and after the tensioner modification, which I also have on my zx7r and I can't figure out what it is due to. What could it be? I thought it could be the alternator.
Kawasaki’s are notorious for being noisey and sounding like they are going to fall apart lol, try doing a valve adjustment and run a better oil. Hope this helps
@@Adikxx another question, I adjusted it, and it got quieter but did not go away completley, so I adjusted it again, and the noise got louder. How do I, "un-adjsut" what I did
when u losen the tensioner the spring pushes the pumger out. he didnt reset it ur right but he did add tension cause sometimes these things stick and dont adjust when they should. thats why backing out the screw sometimes makes it click
Why would you call it automatic tensioner if you have to manipulate manually?😮

My ex500 sounds like that when the valves are adjusted properly. The engine quiets down when the valves are out of spec. Just noisy engines.
My Z900 has the same rattling sound, I'm guessing I can do the same.
Hey, how did you solve the problem with this sound?
How you put it back ,,, incomplete
Is this the same for the 600
LOL, I’m here for the same reason😉👍
@@MSlaytonOIF06 think it is tbh
so i moved mine 3 clicks by accident and im afraid it might be too tight.. what do i do? will it automatically set to proper slack?
Remove it completely and reset it, then insert it and try again.
@@williamfoster4268 yea thats what I ended up doing lol
but if this work it seams as the spring is to weak in the tension house...
Yes,but i changed the chain, and also the spring in tensioner, its still ticking..
Will this work kn a 2001 ZX9R?
Yes, same thing on all generations of zx9.
@@Adikxx thank you brother, you just saved my bike
@@Adikxx is the bike still running fine after this adjustment?
