We give young wizards a space where they can feel equal to others, to give them a place to feel right and feel like they belong. They don't need to be smart, brave or cunning to be special, they get treated equally and they can still feel important because there is no competition about who is smarter or richer.

Actually the sorting hat sorts you with what you want. For example in the first movie Harry Potter said not slytherin and even though the sorting hat said he’d do great in slytherin he got sorted into gryffindore. Also in the second movie the sorting hat flat out says that he sorted Harry into gryffindore just because he wanted to be. Finally, Harry told his son in deathly hallows part two that the sorting hat sorts you by what you want. So it couldn’t have been an accident she must have wanted to be in hufflepuff.
