Actually, the whip's title "Vampire Killer" was only established about the release of Lament of Innocence (although the first time this title appeared was in CV Bloodlines).
Before the release of that game, the whip was known as Whip of Alchemy, Magic Whip, Mystic Whip, Holy Whip, etc. So, the Hunter's Whip is probably just another name for the Vampire Killer.
Circle of the Moon is confirmed non-canon to the original timeline. So the Hunter’s Whip is an entirely separate but similar in ways magical whip.
Who knows if the Belmonts even exist in any capacity in Circle of the Moons continuity.
Indeed the Belmont whip has been called Vampire Killer since Castlevania Bloodlines on Sega Genesis.
As it was shown as the name of John Morris’s weapon on the character select screen.
Since the Morris family are blood related to the Belmonts to a lesser extent and Richter entrusted them with the Vampire Killer after the events of Symphony of the Night
@@Gamerdude535 Yeah, now I know. :)
According to Bloodlines EGM fax, the "Vampire Killer" whip was originally meant to be the whip Morris family branch used, while the Belmonts used the "Excalibur" whip, but that was retconned to keep a more consistent overall story, and "Vampire Killer" was established to be the one and only legendary whip.
It was mentioned by CotM developers themselves that it's set in a "different timeline from the Belmont and Morris family" and IGA confirmed that in one of his Bloodstained interviews.
Plus, it does quite a lot to separate itself from the main series (as there's no mention of Belmonts at all in CotM, etc), and even if we'd count it as canon, it would make the timeline during the 19th century timeframe more convoluted (add to that the unseen killing of Dracula by Morris Baldwin 10 years prior to CotM events) and introduce some inconsistencies with OoE and the "Morris trilogy" (and even CV64/LoD, which was also confirmed to be its own separate universe, iirc, since it was also developed by KCEK, but there are some leftovers which hint that it was intended as a part of the main timeline at some point - Carrie is a Vernandes/Belnades/Fernandez, and her zombie relative was originally meant to be Sypha (hinted by the track name on the soudntrack CD), Reinhardt was "Schneider Belmont" before they changed his name, and Death still calls him "scum of a Belmont", among other things, but I digress).
Still, all good games. :)
I'm impressed that they used the CotM melody for this awesome arrangement.
I have to ask, whatever happened to your fellow GBA hero?
Hmm... I heard that his story is non canon. If you look at the Castlevania wiki, it's considered to be a side story since IGA made some changes. The same goes to the N64 ones.
Soma Cruz Say what you want IGA, but COTM is still canon for me.
I mean, it also had some inconsistences with the original story, which at least most games cared to cover.
It's not because IGA made games that made these ones non-canon.
did a bit of reading. it's actually not even the Vampire Killer he's using :o something called the Hunter's Whip, but still, to be as strong as a Belmont is truly impressive
Yup. A similar magical whip but not the Vampire Killer.
Circle of the Moon being set in a different continuity who knows if the Belmonts even exist in that timeline.
The distinction: Gabriel isn't truly evil like the original dracula. He actually retains himself more than sinking to utterly evil being which is confrimed in the recently released Lords of Shadows 2, which picks up where both 1 and mirror of fate left off.
In the original plotline, Dracula IS NOT originally a Belmont but a good friend of Leon Belmont named Mathias.
HikaruBaskerville lord of shadows is not a real castlevania
Lords of Shadows is a remake to the entire series. In other words, it's another take on the storyline all together. Everything is told differently, as it's meant to with remakes.
If your responding to this old comment thinking I'm claiming it as part of the canon we grew up with, I suggest you check again
LoS shouldn't had to exist.
To be honest, Mathias himself isnt that evil either, and both Draculas have pretty similar motivations.
"They killed my wife. They dont deserve to live."
Which is a pretty logical motivation to kill everything, particularly when said wives did their best to show the good sides of the things that then killed them.
"Humans are good. You should learn about and understand them.:
'Burn the witch!'
Mathias : "I understand that humans are a bunch of useless monsters that need to be wipes off the planet."
Alucard : -facepalms-
Nathan is one of the best Castlevania characters.
you're right; he destroyed dracula without being a belmont descendant, and without the Vampire Killer.
Also, he is pretty cool, using the DSS cards to summon a variety of Demons, or being completely inmune to all attacks.
best husbando
I totally agreed!
@@nuculaisvoidwalker5866 I mean, John Morris already did that-
@@simiroth9461 bro, jonathan morris actually half bloodline belmont family
@@kerryvanskonsol792 He is a direct Belmont descendant, he just didn't use the name.
Daaaaaamn - this is savage. Whipcracking headbanging goodness.
He's probably a distant relative, kinda like Reinhardt or the Morrises.
Intenso!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in response to Jee, Lords of shadows is non-canon to the original, in fact it's its own storyline. In the original, Leon Belmont was the first predecessor to the vampire killer if u look at lament of innocence, where as here we have Gabriel Belmont, who later in his line became dracula himself.
He is f***ing AWESOME ^^
circle of the moon is the only castlevania game i could beat XD
SOTN is easy.
+Solid Snake AOS, DOS and HOD were quite easy too.
if you could beat CotM, you can beat every other one.
It’s one of the harder ones but at the same time not that hard once you get a hang of the way movement feels.
Since the Original had no LINEAR story to them cept for Rondo of blood to symphony of the night, and Aria and Dawn of Sorrow, but kept in line with each other a comparison can be made easy between it and LoS. Lords of Shadows I like just as much as the original because it tells a story. It's meant to be an epic kind of storyline with it's ups, downs, and interesting little twists.I still like the original games MUCH better tho.
the thought did cross my mind :)
I think "Hunter's Whip" was supposed to be another name for VK and that's the Wiki responding to CotM being non-canon.
I believe it’s a similar but different magical whip. Circle of the Moon is a different continuity and the Belmonts possibly don’t exist in that timeline.
He only regret i have is that this isnt long enough
>:D Beware, Mr. Graves... *bares his teeth which are plain, ordinary human teeth and makes a strange hissing noise*
Circle of the Moon is one of the best Castlevania Games.
This is a cool version of this song. It’s like Castlevania interpreted by Valkyrie Profile’s Motoi Sakaruba.
Best Castlevania games are: All of them! (Except for that Lords of Shadow crap.)
I will never quit infinite continues, I don't give a shit, taste my whip you MFs !!
Have a crucifix, I'll throw it, within you! Who the fuck is this? What a prick. And now he wants to joooooin maaaaaah paaaaaarty.
Even better than Heart of Fire
Sure.
initially vampire killer was only the title of the main castlevania theme lol ;)
CotM is best Castlevania
