I love the fact that you added the part about what nitroglycerin does to the body. I know a lot of ppl say that it doesn't have anything to do with him but it really does. Mainly because after years of him producing that it can sink into the skin. And I think not many ppl realize that. Even if he just uses his palms to direct his explosions the fact is that his entire body sweats. So that means that his entire body is producing nitroglycerin at a constant rate. Which also means that it's being absorbed throughout his entire body, which can lead to it entering his bloodstream. That can have a drastic effect on a person especially if it happens a lot over the years. And in Katsuki's case, he's been producing that chemical since he was four. As he got older and his body got bigger the amount that he was producing also went up as well. Which makes things become a little bit more clear on why he acted the way that he did. I'm not saying that this excuses what he said to Izuku, but I am saying that this can help explain why he was acting the way he was.

I didn’t know hitting your kid, convincing him he’s weak if he doesn’t come out on top and blaming him for things out of his control was considered tough love.
He had just gotten back from being kidnapped and you could tell how scared he was. He already blamed himself for All might’s predicament, all while being like 16. Tough love isn’t going to work in this situation. He’s a child, he needed that genuine sweet and soft love.
Yes, clearly hitting your child, making them think they are weak and need to do better, blaming them for being kidnapped, and constantly yelling at them for things that are out of their control, that’s totally JUST tough love 😌
