Like mentioned at 10:34, Real Madrid's Galactico transfer policy has shifted from players in their prime, to players entering their prime, and now younger players with Galactico potential. Right now their team is insanely good, but I think Perez's strategy will eventually reach a point where they need to promote youth academy graduates to save transfer costs

The next phase will likely involve a combination of free transfers and versatile players who can play in multiple positions. We've already seen them make very good free transfers in Rudiger, Alaba, and Mbappe. They are already looking to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies and have a good bunch of players who can play several positions such as Tchouameni, Camavinga, Valverde, Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Brahim Diaz.

So he basically crated the galacticos brand by buying the best players in the world 20 years ago and because of that brand he can now buy up and coming stars who automatically become galacticos if they make it in Madrid. And of course all the up and coming players also want to become galacticos because their idols were them too. It’s not just money it’s the brand.

There's a whole generation of young footballers who grew up inspired by watching Cristiano at Real Madrid. Then it will be the ones who grew up watching Vini, Jude and now Mbappe. They basically have to buy superstars to keep them globally relevant outside of the Latin world which Perez admitted in an interview to the times, because they are trying to increase the interest in them in more lucrative markets like North America, Asia, Europe and Africa where the Premier League dominate in popularity and TV contract money. The La Liga TV contract has been shrinking in value for the past 6 years, so they need to buy superstars to increase interest them and generate more money, because TV money is the biggest part of their wealth.

The fact the La Liga TV deal is 3.5 billion and getting smaller and the EPL deal is 12 billion it shows who really are the biggest teams in the world. Real only average 40 million global viewers that is less than West Ham and Tottenham average. That is why Real Madrid wanted a super league so bad because they knew they would never be as popular as English teams or generate the global money that league does. @@klmgaragegainer4196 You are doing the classic Real Madrid fanboy mistake of confusing success with actual global fanbases. In the NFL New England Patriots have the most superbowls but the most popular team is the Dallas Cowboys with the biggest TV deal.
Real Madrid’s high revenues stems from not sharing their TV contract money equally like the other major leagues . They take around 25% of the total La liga TV and this keeps them richer than other teams. Do you know how rich an EPL team would be if they were allowed to take 25% of the EPL TV deal? They would be four times richer than Real Madrid now. EPL teams actually generate more commercial revenue than Real, and Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd outsell Real Madrid globally. Adidas recently signed the biggest shirt deal with Liverpool because they believe Liverpool is a bigger club.
Without the unfair TV contract share Real Madrid they would be poorer than most English and German teams.

Most of Real's academy players leave, because the senior team is too stacked. That doesn't mean they don't thrive, - just not at Madrid.
Madrid probably has the most academy players in Europe's top 5.

    1st era Galaticos:
Madrid were in financial crisis amid the success on the pitch and Perez challenged Sainz for presidency. Perez promised Figo and should he fail to get Figo, he'll pay for the tickets to all their season ticket holders out of his own pocket. So he won and signed Figo amid Barcelona were pissed to say the least. So Perez signed a star player every year not only for their talent, also how much money they bring to the club. The less marketable players were treated as outcast and later sold off due to having less money than the Galaticos. While Madrid became the richest club in the world, their on field success leaves a lot to be desired due to signing too many attacking players and neglecting the defense meaning an unbalanced squad and sent Madrid to dark times. Perez resigned in 2006.
    2nd era Galaticos:
2009 Madrid were in trouble. Constant failures in the Champions League and Barcelona becoming the best club in history hence further falling behind their bitter enemy. Perez returns and broke the world transfer record twice in one window by signing Kaka and Ronaldo and signed a future Ballon D'or winner in Benzema. Perez approach to signing players became more logical by the years. Sure most of his signings weren't shirt sellers bar Bale and James but they were good enough for Madrid and this became their most dominant era in the Champions League by winning 4 titles in 5 years including a 3 peat. Ronaldo became their best player ever to wear the shirt and his supporting cast were wolrd class players their own right.
    Current era Galaticos:
Since Neymar move to PSG changed the signings of players forever, a stadium revamp on the way, Premier League clubs having more money to sign decent players and the current core of players ageing, Perez knew he had to change his approach to signing players again but this time to sign young promising players to Madrid and make them Galaticos before they become too expensive for Madrid to sign. Vini Jr was the first future star player brought in then in the following seasons Rodrygo, Militao, Brahim, Jovic, Camavinga, Tchaoumeni, Guler, Bellingham, Endrick and Mbappe joined. These were young players destined for greatness bar Hazard who was at the peak of his powers when joining Madrid and it was a disaster. This Madrid squad with youth and experience has set up Madrid for world football domination for many years to come and Perez has to take credit for it.

In Catalunya, there's a lot of local talent. And because Barca is such a big club and La masia itself is a big academy, young talents are easily drawn to the club.
Even if you were a Madrid fan, you'd know that if you could make it through la masia, there's a good chance you'd make first team if you're good enough. Cantalunya is also home is espanyol and girona with their own academies so it's a place where there's heavy football competition and La masia would easily take the biggest share. Even through out the rest of Spain, young talents would want to go to La masia.
They also have good scouts who scout talents round the world. And again, the LA masia and barca brand is probably the most attractive thing for a young talent

    • @bread3613
      @bread3613 Месяц назад +5

If you're wondering how it came to be like this to start with. LA masia is Cruyff's design. A lot of good principles for an academy where established by him which a lot of other academies took note of.
La masia also has good coaches. Pep for example was Barca B coach before taking the first team job. In this way, Barca grows both coaches AND managers
But I think one very important thing is how La masia trains its talents. If you went to La fabrica for example, Real Madrid isn't really expecting you to be a valid option or necessarily a first team player at some point. It's a big MAYBE for them. They run academy to basically throw some shit around and see what sticks. But at La masia, they train their stars with the aim of them getting to the first team at some point AND to be first team ready in time of need. That's why it's they have so many young stars who can play top level European football without much difficulty.

I have been a Madrid fan for 23 years now. This video is very poor with information or concepts of what really happened in Madrid.
Before Perez came in, Madrid had HUGE PROBLEMS. Not just debt. It was everything besides football. They weren't playing Madrid style exciting football for the fans, stadium was half empty (I believe Santiago was filled in average around 35% per game) they were in enormous debt.
Perez promised to fix everything. And he kinda did until he didn't.
First, he sold prime real estate in the centre of Madrid. On that plot were Madrid training grounds, and now there are 4 skyscrapers. Locals call them: Zidane, Figo, Beckham, and Ronaldo. With the money he got from the plot, he bought and started building Ciudad Real Madrid, which was open in 2005. And he paid for emergency debts.
He went full gangsta on Barcelona with Figo transfer and started bringing in stars.
His only mistake was his ego in that time. He didn't care for the players who did most of the work. And that was Makelele. Moment Makelele left, Madrid collapsed. Easy as that. There were also fights in the dressing rooms, arguments between Raul, Guti, and Perez, etc.
You can make an hour long video with ease just about this era.
With his second tenure and your markings of the second Galaticos era. Well, things were far more difficult. First and foremost, it is because of Barcelona. Perez found the way to break them, and he did. Mourinho was literally a man who broke them. After that, year by year, they fall apart within. But that's another topic.
Besides bringing in stars, perez was smart. Not just by buying but with selling. Ozil is, unfortunately, the first example. Bought for 10m€, sold for 50m€. Perez started to be smart with getting rid of the players.
For example. From the seasons 2013/14 to season 2023/24, Madrid has spending per season in average -20m€. So that means that when you look from income and expenses, in 10 years, Madrid realistically spent 200m€. THAT'S IT. THEY SOLD SO MUCH ITS STUPID. When you research, it's smart af. Only 20m€ spent on average per season. Barcelona, on the other hand, is 50m€ per season in deficit. Which means across those 10 seasons 500m€. Which is 300m more than Madrid. Using Barcelona as an example is easy. Sorry, Barcelona fans.
There is one more aspect to this. Unlike Barcelona and their famously failed transfers across the decade, Madrid actually spent smart. Look at the squad. Fede Valverde, Rudiger, Alaba, Militao, Mendy, Carvajal, Camavinga, Tchuameni, Courtois, Lunin, Vini Jr, Brahim Diaz, Rodrygo, Mbappe, Fran Garcia, Endrick, Mbappe, Arda Guler... That's all players that came after 2013/14, and some of them already produced multiple UCLs and shit ton of trophies. Camavinga is 3 years in Real Madrid. He won 10 trophies with the club...
Most of the players that came almost succeeded. There are flops, and Madrid isn't perfect. Like Luka Jovic, Reiner, Mariano Diaz, Eden Hazard... but not as much when you start like Barcelona list: Arthur, Pjanic, Arda Turan, Coutinho, Dembele, Grizzman, Andre Gomes, to name the few. And there is shit ton more and more you see, more sad it gets.
So next time when you want to make a video like this, please do so try to use more info, facts, what really happened, proper analysis, and freely make longer video like a documentary. It's always nice watching videos like that. That is really good journalism, where you can learn shit ton, see a lot of statistics, comparisons, etc. EVERYTHING IS ONLINE, ITS FREE TO FIND, IT'S EASY TO TRANSLATE AND PEOPLE ALREADY MADE IT SO YOU CAN EXPLORE THERE TOO.
The best video for this kind of shit is "balón - English." Check it out. It's a criminally underrated channel. He makes fantastic football documentaries.

Late comment but to add more :
As you mentioned on your first example with Ozil , he later on did apply it for CR7 but this was a very big message on "the club will always be bigger than a player". NO PLAYER IS ABOVE THE CLUB. Perez what he did the best was to manage the wages of the players. Barcelona on that time with Bartomeu was giving "FIFA wages" that will run down the club to the point were they have to get bail out by La Masia kids years later.
Perez will also aim for players who are "finishing contracts of 1 year left and are not happy with clubs conditions" and free transfer players like Alaba. Toni Kross big example , Bayern did not wanna pay him the money "he deserve" after having the best season of his career with Pep Guardiola and the previous season he just won the treble. So , Madrid got an insane deal for 20m for Toni Kross and became instantly a legend and retired as one too at the highest level. Which also translates too "longevity players" that you buy and stay at the club for a lot of years.
When Perez started his secon tenure , he actually did not want CR7 at first but because it was already promised from before , he accepted and have CR7. Pelligrini was put in charge of the project and he did push Pep´s Barca to the maximum , Barca did 99 points and Madrid did 96 points , two of the highest point tally at that time , and the thing is that Madrid could have done 100+ points have they not lose those two very even clasicos games. Pelligrini was fired after the first season but the main reason was because Mourinho who defeated Barca on Champions league and won the treble , just look like the perfect candidate. And while Mourinho did stop the Barca on his 2011/12 year , it collapsed on the very next year.
You could say that Florentino on 2014/15 did one of the most crazy and dumb things that to this day he still ask himself why did he do it. HE FIRED Ancelotti who got Semis of Champions league , 2nd of la LIGA just behind the MSN machine , and lost Copa del Rey to Atletico Madrid who was Top 4-5 team at that moment and was La Liga winner the previous season. And he replace him with Benitez who then got fired months later for Zidane who is pretty much an extension of Ancelotti and we know what happend after.
Also , the season 2018/19 Florentino got bashed because after selling CR7 the team "looks unbalance" in terms of not having an attacking reference other than Benzema and Bale. Later on , Perez did the right play and build probably a stronger squad that is a lot more consistent with more healthy wages and with better prospects and incredible subs.
Oh yes and while his first stint "looked like a big failure" , he did accomplished what he wanted , make Madrid a machine on printing money and always give the fans the "Galactico" image
You could say that Perez have his blunders as you mentioned but he always comesback stronger and knows how to fix it.

You should take into account the Barcelona’s failure as well, specifically the financial situation they have been gone through. With excellent form of Barcelona, Real Madrid will definitely have problems.

@@Mushroomy509 Bro, im not even talking about 1 case... Madrid this year has earned over 30 Millions in concerts without having documents for concerts... that money is being used in the spanish liga in salaries... then, Madrid mayor gave a company named Real Madrid with his financial direction located in the Bernabeu the rights to make the new parkings around the area. That was 500+ Millions for Real and 1 day before a judge saw it was illegal the mayor changed the documents and wrote that the amount of money was around 5 Millions not 500... But guess what, nobody talks about that because Perez controls the media. There are audio proofs that record Perez saying that they only needed to control Marca and he will have all the info power in Spain. There is also proof of 2 ex-referees saying that Madrid president talked with them alone before a game of Real... Nobody has done anything. You have a lot of proofs in history that Madrid is a club just like PSG, City and other, they are built with public money and they are a mafia. Di Stefano was going to sign for Barcelona but the government didnt allow it and they told him to sign for Real, the rest is history.
