Poson Full Moon Poya Day, Poson is the second most important Buddhist festival in Sri Lanka and is celebrated as the day on which Buddhism was introduced to this country. Poson Poya day is widely hailed as the day on which Arahat Mahinda Thero arrived in Mihintale to spread the message of Lord Buddha 2330 years ago.
The annual Poson Perahera organized by the Ragama Walpola Sri Wimalaratnarama Viharaya. The historic Poson Perahera of the Ragama Walpola was held this year after two years. The Walpola Sri Wimalaratnarama Viharaya's Poson Maha Perahera organised by the Sri Balabhiwardana Samithiya, will be held on June 13 under the patronage of Viharadhipathi Ven. Kalugala Sri Soratha Nayake Thera. The perahera carrying the sacred relics casket and other sacred objects replete with the ceremonial tusker and other elephants, traditional Kandyan, low country and Sabaragamuwa dancers, will leave the temple and parade the streets through Kadurugama wewa junction, Polpithimukalana, Bollatha, Maigaha junction and return to the temple along Batuwatte road.
අනුබුදු මිහිඳු මහ රහතන් වහන්සේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාද්වීපයට වැඩම කොට ශ්‍රී ගණ සුගත තථාගත සම්බුදු සසුන ප්‍රතිෂ්ඨාපිත කොට අදීන සංස්කෘතියක් සභ්‍යත්වයක් ලබා දී කරන ලද උදාරතර මෙහෙය සඳහා කෘත ගුණ සැළකීම වශයෙන් රාගම වල්පොල ශ්‍රී විමලරතනාරාම විද්‍යානිවාස මහ පිරිවෙන් විහාරස්ථානය කේන්ද්‍රකොටගත් ශ්‍රී බාලාභිවෘද්ධිවර්ධන සමිතිය මගින් පවත්වනු ලබන ඓතිහාසික පොසොන් මහා පෙරහැර 2022.
93 වන රාගම වල්පොළ ඓතිහාසික පොසොන් මහ පෙරහැර 2022/06/13 දින පැවැත්වීම හේතුවෙන් දින හතක් පුරා විශේෂ තේවා මුර පවත්වා, ශබ්ද පූජා, බුද්ධ පූජා, ගිලන්පස පුජාදියෙන් පුද පූජාවන් පවත්වමින් ප්‍රධාන ආවාස මන්දිරයේ ඇති සධාතුක කරඬුන් වහන්සේ, පොත්වහන්සේ වෙනුවෙන් එකී කටයුතු ගරු විහාරාධිපති ස්වාමින්වහන්සේගේ අවසර ඇතිව ශ්‍රී බාලාභිවෘද්ධිවර්ධන සමිතියේ අනුශාසක ස්වාමින්වහන්සේ නමක් වන පූජ්‍ය ඉහළගම ධම්මරක්කිත ස්වාමින්වහන්සේ විසින් එකි කටයුතු මනාව සංවිධානය කිරීම උන්වහන්සේ අතින් සිදුවිය. පෙරහැර මංගල්‍යය අවසන්වූ පසුව පොසොන් පොහොය දිනය පුරා සැදැහැවතුන්ගේ වන්දනයට විවෘතව තැබිණ. ඓතිහාසික පොසොන් මහ පෙරහැරේ රජකාලයේ පටන් පැවති පරිදි ඇතු පිටිව් පිරුවානා පොත් වහන්සේ වැඩමවීම, පෙරහැර කරඩුව වැඩම කිරීම හා පොසොන් පෙරහැරේ ජීවය බඳු මිහිඳු ප්‍රථිමා වහන්සේ තැන්පත් රථය විහාරස්ථානයේ ප්‍රදර්ශනයක් කිරීම සිදුවෙනවා. ශ්‍රී බාලාභිවෘද්ධිවර්ධන සමිතිය, මිහිඳු තරුණ සමිතිය හා වල්පොළ, කොස්පැලන, පොල්පිති මූකලාන, බටුවත්ත, නාරංගොඩ පාළුව ගම්වාසීන්ගේ පූර්ණ එකමුතුවෙන් මෙවරත් ධර්ම දේශනා මාලවක්, තෙදින මල්වෙඩි සංදර්ශනයක් හා පොසොන් මහ පෙරහැර සාර්ථක ලෙස පවත්වනු ලැබිණ.
