- Happy Dino-mas! Hope you are all enjoying the holiday season, today we compare the two variants of Velociraptor from the Papo Dinosaur line. One closely resembles the Raptors we see in the first film, the other resembles the Raptors from Jurassic Park 3.
jp3 raptors are my favorite of the whole franchise. i love their design! glad papo decided to make them into figures

Would have been better with The Lost World skin pattern. I really like the raptors in that one with their tiger stripes and piercing green eyes.
I know. i too wish they had painted a second velocirator figure with the tiger-like colors that was used for the velociraptors of The World World: Jurassic Park.

I always felt that the "Velociraptor" in Jurassic Park is actually a Deinonychus, given its size and the shape of its head/skull (velociraptor has a more elongated, flattened snout). What do you think?
Steven Spielberg liked the name velociraptor but liked the size of deinonychus is so in Jurassic park the raptors are actually deinonychus but they are called velociraptor ^_^

I got the Raptor and the Trex and every time I see that Brachiosaurus, I want to get it more. So tempting to use my Christmas money on it LOL. Have a good Christmas, friend!

I just ordered a few of the Papo Dinosaurs and is thinking to have them stand next to each other so others could see how big dinosaurs was compared to each other.
When I looked at the size of the Velociraptor (Deinonychus) I noticed it was hugely in the wrong size. Over half the lenght of the T. Rex.
I then looked at the size of what a Utahraptor could become and apparently it's 7 meters in lenght, which is just above half the lenght of a T.Rex.
It seems to me this is a Utahraptor.
with feather this will be much much better, but is a nice figure afterall

Haha, nice to see I'm not the only one keeping the tags on the figures XD I don't really prefer either of the versions, I like them both a lot ^^ But damn, do I need a Brachiosaur :P
I really love this figure. I'm sad that the first version got discontinued since I would have loved to have it as a representation of the Jurassic Park raptor. That said, I also love how this matches the raptors seen in JP3, which I thought almost seemed bird-like in the way their eyes were done especially when you compare the eyes of the two figures.

It does not look identical because jp3 raptors habent't got stripes in the legs and they have feathers. Papo raptor have stripes on his legs and it haven't got feathers but it looks more o less identical . I have it and I recomend you. You can get one on DansDinosaurs.com and its there the....papo version one raptor too. You can get both. Luck with your new raptor!

The Papo Velociraptor version 2 is based on the male raptor from Jurassic Park 3 but without the feathers
That new one looks like Blue to me I think they would have added feathers of it was from Jurassic Park 3.
I left mine outside,so my dog chewed it up of course (she did the same thing with my marine vs spinosaurus)

+Shalom Alcheim You still can get first one from ebay not easy to pick it up unless you dare to pay much higher of course you will get them, it not new ( used ) but make sure that good quality from ex-adult owner, I finally pick it up from ebay. Definitely awesome. My Raptor V1 is pure from France haha.

I like v2 because since it's black it hides the creases from the articulation
I was surprised that considering that they used the same mold they didn't recast it with added quills or even make a new sculpt altogether, so it could give you the option of having males and females... I was gutted that they stopped the jp1 version, I bought 1 for my mates birthday when they where first released and meant to get one for myself, still keeping my eyes on the net for 2nd hand versions...

I prefer the Raptor V1, it looks more like the ones we see on Jurassic park. But the V2 has a really beautiful paint job and it looks scarier like this, but not quite sure if I like the color of the eyes though.

It really sucks that the brown raptor is no longer in production, I went to ebay and found a brown version tagged with a crazy price of $111 plus, I just realized how rare the brown version is to this day.V2 looks great but the brown version really complements my old schleich velociraptor which happens to be similar in color
DONT GO ON EBAY THEY RIP YOU OFF! Trust me You probably didn't under stand but hundreds of people get roped off every 2 days. The fact that there broken, loss of detail, fake items, and unprotected boxes to keep your items purchased safe. I recommended Amazon.

I can't believe i've only found these Papo dinosaurs! I saw them in Hamleys London and was instantly drawn to the sculpt detail. They only had the green Velociraptor. Anyone know where to find the original brown version?
