To be fair I've been to Saudi 3 times and everyone there is on the 'come back to mine for tea' vibe. It's part of the Islamic custom to feed, water people and invite them to your home and in general, native arabs are very curious about foreigners. I got invited back to a luxurious compound (minus the tigers and bears) and stayed for about 16 hours which included the afternoon nap . All the Male children from the family were invited to meet me and quizzed me about life in London and the education system. They were chuffed to meet an Englishman and were all impeccably behaved

These stories always come out lol.I was at France 98 with scotland and we were staying in a wee village called perigeux about 2 hrs from bordeaux.1 night our taxis didn't turn up to take us back to the digs so the bar boss flagged down a police van.Told the lads what happened and we all piled into back of the van.We got told to stop singing tho in case they got disciplined from their gaffer ha ha.Should have seen our mates faces as we piled out the van pissed high fiving and hugging 2 policemen.I know its no the same as kissing a lion or drinking wi sheikh's but you see how things on trips happen.Good on the evertonians for enjoying themselves and I am a red aswell 😉

My wife’s sister is married to one of the Sheik’s cousins. His house is all one story with about a dozen courtyards inside of it with crazy zoo animals and outrageous luxury. Everything appliance every faucet every freakin toilet seat is gold too. It’s not really worth it to live there though bc the weather is atrocious and the land is as blah & depressing as it gets. The vast majority of the citizens there & in Saudi Arabia despise us westerners too. I get a kick out of how they openly hated Americans but they’re obsessed with American culture. You go to any mall and 90% of it is American shops, they wear American clothing sunglasses etc & all the restaurants were American. It was all very bizarre.

I know the history and 100% understand from a North Wales lad. or 'woolie' as you call us lol I'm a Liverpool fan and spent many a nights at the legendary club 'Cream' at Nation back in the late 90's -early 2000's , and spent many nights in john moores with an ex. The city is close to my heart for these memories. love the place and the people.
