Parliament Session: Political Storm Over Bill On Appointment Of Election Commissioner Passed In RS

The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill, 2023 was passed in the Rajya Sabha. The bill will regulate the appointment, conditions of service and term of office of the Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners, and the procedure for transaction of business by the Election Commission. The Government of Union Territories (Amendment) Bill, 2023 and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Second Amendment) Bill, 2023 were also passed in Lok Sabha.

* Election Commission should be empowered to disqualify Culprits to Contest Elections
* Election Commission should be empowered to remove & disqualify Convicted MLAs and MPs to Contest Elections for a period of 11 Years .
* Election Commission should be empowered to Ban offer of Freebies and Concessions in view of Elections .
* Cash and Goods captured/Seized during the period of Elections should be used for Construction of Govt Schools and Collages.
