I tried it with polar peely, my teammates were in a fight behind me and needed rebooting and somehow the enemies picked the fruit and I eventually came 2nd

The problem is less the blending in, but that players' brains in a PvP game are looking for _movement,_ especially human-shaped silhouettes moving. They don't expect anyone to sit/stand perfectly still in plain sight.
And the strat only works in the Reality Bloom biome or with Reality saplings, and with a limited amount of skins: glowy blueish ice skins or glowy pinkish-purple skins, or Luminos or the mushroom King who have both pale blue and purple in their colour palette and are glowning. Heck, even the Galaxy-texture skins might be too dark purple to hide in a sapling... they might be able to hide in other alien vegetation though.
So it works in a meme video, but if the final circle was in the desert or Tilted Towers, Ice Ranger would stand out like a sore thumb.

11:20 You got to admit, if the player who ran into the bush to hide had shot first at Muselk while Muselk was running across flat empty terrain towards the bush and couldnt see the other player's exactly location inside the bush, the other player could have easily killed Muselk. Muselk was coming down the hill, running and sliding, completely exposed, for 5-6 seconds. 6 seconds in which the other player would've had a perfect opportunity, but instead stayed utterly passive and just tried to hide, didn't even try to heal or shield up from the looks of it.
And the final enemy, in Logjam Lumberyard, just kept running around aimlessly in the alley between the two buildings, while Muselk was on the roof.
Didn't try to set the roof on fire, or ram a lorry through the building, to get Muselk to come down.

What was the point of that🤓🤓
By that logic Epic would have to remove a lot of skins: starting with the Toy Soldier and adaptible superhero skins, literally any military-themed skin that uses camo, any all-black or full dark grey skins, any pink/purple skins or skins with glowy pale-blue "ice" texture or the glowy "galaxy" texture that might be able to blend in with various ice biomes, glowy alien flora biomes and the pink-purple crystal-filled Zero Point desert of Ch2S5, or red-clad characters like Rust Lord who blended in perfectly with the red sand desert back on the Chapter 1 map... Oh, and Bushranger.
Hiding in the terrain is part of a Battle Royale game strategy, in any BR game. It's just that Fortnite contains a lot of brightly coloured terrain and vegetation (including golden-yellow and bright red grass back in the Ch2S6 Primal season, or the purple landscapes of Ch2S5, Ch2S7, Ch2S8) and even glow-in-the-dark biomes in some seasons, so that literally any colour on a skin, from dark green to bright golden to glowy purple, can find somewhere to blend in.
Heck, by that logic Epic would have to remove all bushes someone can hide in.
Just unvault those recon scanners and flareguns and other weapons that can "ping" enemies and reveal them even through cover. Problem solved. Oh wait, the competitive players hated those (except whenever they used them themselves).

you know something works really well like this when another player has same idea and tries to jump on the sapling you currently occupy and the player gets confused why he cant get on top ^_^ that is the only way epic can nerf this, they prevent players from jumping on top of it.
