Miata Transmission Fluid Change Mazda MX-5 DIY

We show you how to change your transmission fluid on a Miata. This is my 1996 Mazda MX-5 Miata. It is important to change your transmission fluid after you purchase the car. Along with transmission fluid you should change out all of the other fluids as well. This gives you a fresh start on all of your fluids so you know where your maintenance stands. Changing the transmission fluid is really easy and you only need a handful of tools.
It is highly recommended to use Motorcraft Full Synthetic Manual transmission fluid. Miata enthusiasts rave about this stuff and after doing the shifter rebuild kit (video available in Miata Playlist) and transmission flush I have to say I'm totally sold.

-Jack
-Jack stands
(optional ramps instead of these, but I like having the car level)
-Crescent wrench
-Fluid pump (see link above)
Optional:
-I would probably substitute a 24mm socket for the drain plug, but we didn't have that (crescent wrench worked out great)
