- Want to make sure that your vehicle is getting the best possible mileage per gallon?
1. AVOID SUDDEN ACCELERATION/BRAKING - a good habit to improve fuel economy is to take ~5 seconds to reach 15mph from a stop. Sudden acceleration and/or braking can decrease your fuel economy as much as 40%. You can save up to $.86 per gallon by eliminating this.
2. SHUT OFF AC when you're not on the highway - when driving speeds under 40mph, enjoy the warm weather, open your windows, and turn off your A/C. This could increase your fuel economy up to 25%.
3. GO THE SPEED LIMIT - According to the U.S. Department of Energy, every 5mph you drive over 50mph is comparable to paying an extra $0.15/gallon for gas. Reducing your highway speeds by 5 to 10 mph can increase your fuel economy by 7 to 14 percent!
4. REMOVE EXCESS WEIGHT - Excess weight from bike racks, cargo racks, and more can decrease fuel economy by up to 25% on the interstate. Plus, any excess weight (greater than 100lbs) can decrease the fuel economy by 1%. So remove any excess weight and cargo containers when not in use to save fuel and cash.
5. CHECK TIRE PRESSURE - Regularly check your tire pressure and make sure it’s within the optimal range for maximum fuel efficiency. Most tires have these readings on the side of them.

Please remember, Blinkers then brake when turning.
No sudden brakes then blinkers
So we don’t have to stop?
@@jacobparamus1229 USE. YOUR. BLINKERS.
@@jacobparamus1229I think he slightly misconstrued his point, you want to slowly ease into braking when turning or merging rather than tapping the brakes hard and fast or just letting your foot down on the brakes quickly all at once.
I know it might sound crazy but my truck is a big 5.9 liter v8 magnum 360 and I actually save over 100 bucks a month or 1200$ a year just by easing into acceleration and braking!!!!
@@jacobparamus1229I hope that helps!!!
@@brensbands9335 oh ok got it. So just slow down basically. Complete stop not necessary
use gravity when available instead of your pedal.
Wait fr okay bet
@youmightknowmelater1212 yeah, like when you're on a down grade, take your foot off the peddle and let it coast.
@@rchot84why not just hold it the same for when you go back up the hill right after?
@man-by9iz momentum should carry you to a certain point where you won't have to use as much fuel on an up grade.
I know it’s dangerous but I do put it on neutral when Im on a big slope, I live in SoCal so I have a lot of those
I forgot not all cars have a tire pressure checker built in
How old are you, 10? 😂
>3. Go the speed limit
But driving my shitbox at *extremely* illegal speeds is fun…
A/C has no effect on mpg
It has a slight affect due to it using electricity from the alternator. Windows down around town. And windows up for highway
@@mr.time1839 windows only ever up if you live in texas like me
@@mr.time1839 wouldn’t that still be bad because of the drag?
Yes it does. I've tested it using an obd
@@DillyThePickley yeah windows down takes off a good 2mpg
im not taking that tip that is made by women are you one yes youa r
What the fuck kinda english are you talking 😂😂😂😂
