He isn’t. It’s stacked grip. The angle just makes it look like they’re off the rim.
Actually it’s a split grip. I saw him explain he uses the split grip more but I think the video distorts the middle finger that’s on the rim. 👍🏽
After the disc releases, it almost looks like he is throwing with just his index finger! But earlier I see it is a two-finger (stacked?) grip, where the middle finger pops off the rim just as the disc starts to release.
