Killeen is a city in Bell County, Texas, United States. According to the 2020 census, its population was 153,095, making it the 19th-most populous city in Texas and the largest of the three principal cities of Bell County. It is the principal city of the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Killeen is 55 miles (89 km) north of Austin, 125 miles (201 km) southwest of Dallas, and 125 miles (201 km) northeast of San Antonio.
Killeen is directly adjacent to the main cantonment of Fort Hood. Its economy depends on the activities of the post, and the soldiers and their families stationed there. It is known as a military "boom town" because of its rapid growth and high influx of soldiers.
I was stationed here from ‘14-‘18…Killeen ain’t bad just kinda slow moving…I’m from Los Angeles so that was right up my alley
Everything before Young Drive looked exactly the way it looked 30 years ago!
Live there for one year. My husband was stationed at Fort Hood. This was 50 years ago.
Not gonna lie it's a pretty town so calm and peaceful
Nice tour of Killeen TX
I love videos like this. I grew up in Killeen from 70s to the 80s as an army brat. So this brings back some memories. Thanks for posting
Killeen rulez. Thanks for uploading this video. I've spent a year 1988 and 1989 in the area. Great!
In 1 month we moved to those parts. I would like to know what you think of Cooper TX
Wow...texas is beautiful
this looks exactly like everywhere else
Miss that place .
A lot bigger than when I was last there in 1969.
The rectum of the planet: Killeen
Lived on the corner of Rancier and 8th Street for years. Was a wild little area at night. Kill town Tx. Miss Tx but NOT Killeen..
Moving down there in November. Already have a job and a place waiting! Everyone I’ve met from Texas says it’s a nice place. Hope it is considering I’ll be driving 2200 miles to get there 😅
You got swindled
I'm sorry. Killeen is Killeen is kinda horrible. It's way underfunded because the disproportionate amount of disabled army vets here that don't pay property taxes.(I'm one of them). The crime on the north side is out of control. The grocery stores had to close on that side of town. Downtown is overrun with homeless. There is no extra curricular stuff to do here you need to drive 45minutes south to do anything in Austin. I live here because I've been here off and on since the 90s and it's close to the VA. Good luck.
You need to turn back!!!
I work for the city. Killeen has a high crime rate. Teens are a big issue here. Downtown Killeen is the bad part of town. Carry a fire arm and don't leave valuables in your car.
@@mrunknown3414 I used to work for the city if Killeen water/sewer in 2003-2005 and it was scary then
Hello, in general how would you describe Kileen? One word for positive and negative. Were thinking of moving here
Positive: Cheap
Negative: Boring
Did you see the ghost car appear out of nowhere?
Is it a safe area?
Looking into possibly moving out this way.
The southside (south of I-14) looked like the safer, more desirable part of town.
Generally better further south towards either the Texas A&M-Central Texas or Chaparral High School areas or near the south side of Harker Heights. Great new park, higher end homes, and a hiking trail on the Killeen-Harker Heights southern border in Heritage Oaks.
I live here now. 95% of killeen is safe. My wife is super active in the community. I have raised two kids here on basic middle-class money.
@@jamesbrown6841I’m looking into moving that way as well, fiancées family is there. What would you say is ‘unsafe’ ? Like vehicle break ins? Or the obvious presence of drugs? Really curious, I come from the Bay Area and it’s awful. Thank you!

You will think everything is safe. We have a couple of blocks by our city hall that have kids that think they are something that shoot at each other now and then. I've lived north of San Diego, south of DC and other places. You will think you moved to super small town USA.
Jalapeno popper
Place has a funk in the air. Boring place, negative people, depressing vibe , poverty crime substance abuse. I used to live in Terrace heights apartments back when that extra storage facility was an empty lot
How can american cities be so absurdly awfull. It’s crazy
Ms. Meghan Workman 'a happy
I didn't see anything beautiful or interesting or historic in this video. Why would anyone love living here?
