Excellent film & a perfect song to accent the aura that it exudes. Have watched this film 3 x's & find something new w/ each viewing. This perfect combo of film & title song reminds me of, "True West", (Sinese & Malkovich's brilliant rendition of Shepard's book) that had Hank Williams', "Ramblin' Man" as the accompanying credits song. Who sings this haunting tune, btw?! Great voice...
I watched this movie and thought it was a pretty good b-flick and would be fantastic remade until I saw the end and heard this song. Then I thought goddamn I haven't been affected like that by a movie in a long time.
This song fit the ending to The Burrowers because it was sad and I almost felt like crying because now the attacks will continue because of a United States general's racism in the film and how all those people died for nothing
Definitely a good movie - I loved the crossover between horror and western ....And the story was ways better than the average, lousy "hey, let's go to that old creepy house and party, have sex, take drugs - and get killed by a slow walking superhuman killer" teenage slasher.. The song adds to the impression the movie made on me!
Way down yonder down in the meadow lies a poor little lamb Bees and flies are plucking out its eyes Poor little lamb crying for it's mother Crying for it's mother So hush-a-bye, don't you cry Now go to sleep, you little baby When you're awake, we shall have cake And all these pretty little horses Enjoy.. _Vm
@Forestgirl925 mamas and papas did it with slightly different lyrics grant campbell change them just to be a little more creepy.theres lots of versions of it.going way back to when a slave wrote it for a wight masters son as a bed time tale.
So hush-a-by, Don't you cry, Just go to sleep, you little baby. When you're awake, we will have cake, And all the pretty little horses. Dun and bay, Sorrel and gray And all the six white horses. Dun and bay, Sorrel and gray, And all the pretty little horses. Mama gone. Daddy gone. Oh, we miss our little baby and when you awake, we will have cake And all the pretty little horses
Robert Flores, old comment but here we go. The only person left alive that knew about the Burrowers was the Irishman. The Calvary guys still thought the Indians had kidnapped and killed everyone. They had men getting ready to kill the tribe of Indians that knew how to poison the Burrowers and they already hanged the 2 Indians that knew the secret as well and could talk to this other tribe. So basically, they were fucked cause the Burrowers could not be stopped now and everyone at the end died for nothing.
The song was haunting at the end of the movie, the movie really scared me, the music finished me off. . .it was wonderful
The movie was great fun to watch - creepy and haunting - and the song was the perfect way to end it. Grant Campbell's quite the artist.

Sounds like a cross between Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen.

One of the best horrors for a long time.
Not enough original horror movies like this one.
This movie's ending actually made me shudder...it was so disturbingly surreal to me. It's good to actually FEEL something from a scary movie.
One of the best horror movies out there... Gotta own it!

Great film, gory and psychological!
2019 and i still love this song......by the great grant Campbell
Fuck yeah
Likewise! Into 2020 too!
So hush-a-by, Don't you cry,
Just go to sleep, you little baby.
When you're awake, we will have cake,
And all the pretty little horses.
Dun and bay, Sorrel and gray
And all the six white horses.
Dun and bay, Sorrel and gray,
And all the pretty little horses.
Mama gone. Daddy gone.
Oh, we miss our little baby
and when you awake, we will have cake
And all the pretty little horses
Best version that I've heard of this old classic.
The harsh reality of the world goes down a little easier if you sugar coat it a bit....
Sometimes poison tastes sweet too.
How does this song not have far more views and likes? So good!
