I guess you can get these shocks used or hopefully at a discount from new or is it still thru the roof high priced? I ask because everything I see parts wise are expensive & suspension parts are really expensive. Very cool upgrade...
I apologize, I'm saving for a Dual Sport & was deeply researching them & as I was learning about suspension type swap outs I saw the SV650 which is a drop dead beautiful bike, in my opinion. IF I were to get a street bike this would be the one for lots of reasons...... I appreciate the offer & if I come up on anyone needing one I will have all your info & drop it back here. Thanks again for the great videos
As far ad any shocks from other bikes that fit a 24 sv, I have no idea, but there is always the usual upgrades from the main suspension companies. Like Ohlins, K-Tech, Penske, Nitron.
@@nickbuchananracing ohlins only makes em for the old bikes for some reason. Not sure about the others. I got a brand new bike last week, still in break in. but not many options on upgrades at the moment.
Im not sure about other zx10 shocks. Im pretty sure the others dont fit because the reservoir is angled up way too much. So it would hit the battery tray way too much to fit. I THINK...
@@nickbuchananracing much appreciated, I found a local guy selling a Ohlin rear shock for a gen 1 zx10r that I don't want to pass up but I can't find any fitment info smh. I emailed Ohlins hopefully they respond quickly. By the way great video!!
@@razelllamanzares thanks, glad you liked it. what year, model sv is this for and is it for a street bike or a track bike. also what ohlins shock is it?
@@nickbuchananracing Ohlins KA3452. I actually don't own a sv650, I have a 07 zx10r. The person that has the rear shock owns a sv1000, but I'm unsure the year. I was hoping the gen 1 and gen 2 zx10r shock were compatible
I'm not sure of don't remember. Look up stock hardware for a 2006-2008 zx10r shock mounting bolts. I used the zx10 for the lower and the sv bolt for the upper
It is able to slide side to side because of the freeplay sliding on the mounting hardware on the shock linkage. The needle rollers should be firm in the linkage though. They should not be loose
@@nickbuchananracing Yeah I was just looking for a starting point. Whoever had the bike before me lowered it and idk if the rear shock is just that stiff from factory or what. I’ve read that the stock suspension is setup for 130-150lb but that can’t be true. I weigh 140ish and the rear is like sitting on a brick lol.

Great video. Thx for breaking down the process and comparisons. Definitely helps a lot.
Youre welcome. Glad it helped out
Really nice video man. Very nice angles and sound
thank you!
And no musac. Double points!
Awesome video, thanks for the walkthrough!

Nice work! Much more detailed than the other videos out there.
thanks! glad you liked it. I tried to be as detailed as I could.

What are my suspension options for a Gen 4 2024? The suspension is great, i just wanna experience a more high end suspension.

Do you know the stock pre load length of the zx10r rear shock for an 05. I read some where that it was 14mm of thread showing not sure
im not sure. I usually just have a friend help me measure the rider sag for the front and rear to set the preload for the shock and the forks.

Which Ohlins shock fits the 2006 SV1000?
Idk. Youll have to look it up or talk to Ohlins
