    My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
    I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.

    Hello, Further to having watched several of your excellent X3650 tutorial videos I'd really like to buy an X3650 however finding a supplier that has some available in excellent to mint condition is proving to be very nearly impossible (unless a considerable amount (that I've not got at my disposal) is spent). Would you consider a HP DL380 to be a good 'starting block' for getting into virtualisation running ESXi please? Understand the latter are generally cheaper to buy. Thank you for your comments.

      @Noname2014
      You don't want to have a Minecraft Server hosted in a house with a home internet connection that is typically bad.
      Instead you want to have a Minecraft Server hosted in a datacenter with an internet connection directly connected to a big internet node.
      And one more thing. You also definitely don't want to manage the server on your own, instead you want have a gameserver that is managed by IT professionals. Reason: You don't want to pay a bill of > $ 50000 in the case of a compromised and misused server that goes amok and harming other servers on the internet.

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  7 лет назад +1

      @OpenGL4ever 7 лет назад

      My PlayHouse
      Ping time is important in games. I rather rent a server in Frankfurt Germany than in Denmark. Reason, it's closer to me.
      But if you live in Denmark, go for a server in Denmark.It will be okay.

    Hi Morton,
    I have a question about this Server. Do you know how much power the Server is drawing in idle? I have to buy a new Server as quick as possible because my old Dell poweredge r610 has a broken mainboard. In my country (germany) i can not find ibm 3650m3( this server i would Love to have) for a good price. So I found an HP DL380G6 for a decent Price.
    I will use the Server for VM Ware but I dont wanna have to pay much for my electricity bill.
    Hope you can help me on that
    Regards
    Niclas

    • @MyPlayHouse
      @MyPlayHouse  6 лет назад

      Hi TechNET98
      It all comes down to CPU, RAM and HDD,, and what power mode you run the server in,,,, CPU's goes from like 40w to 150W-ish and every stick of RAM can be 4-5w and HDD like 4-8W... but the HP dl380G6 is not bad,, and I hear that it is low noise... But Lenovo x3650 if you want something that does not brake. :-)

    Just bought a g6 with 24gb ram and 2.93 ghz from ebay. Wanting to setup 3 or 4 home game servers on it at the house to run 24/7. Can I run 3 ark servers and 1 dark and light game server on it for 4 or 5 players ? Will be mainly for family. Would like to keep it running all the time on one power supply if I can. Should get the server in the mail next week.

      Xeon 5100 through 5400 systems tend to be very picky about the RAM configuration. Most use the PC2-5300 FB-DIMMs with the metal heat spreaders on them.

    In case someone will se my comment. So basically I I found the DL380E G8 server to be the perfect home server with nas capabilities (12xLFF hdd). But I use fujitsu servers currently and I dont know nothing about hp servers. If someone has ever played with the 380p or 380e editions (gen8) I want to get some answers for the following question.
    1. Are the server loud?
    2. How is the noise?
    3. How is the power consumption
    4. Do they freak out if i install non hp hardware?

      Hi +Ian T
      Well i do not know,, I discovered a little to late that I was in the wrong slot :-) (Sorry i could not help myself)
      I do think that HP might have select a way to place these hard disks that is not intuitive for all of us.

    the hp dl380 uses far less power then those banger ibm servers. Better PSU aswell less heat and power usage.

      Thank You very much! You press the red-ish thing on the bad drive, a handle pops out you pull the drive out. And insert the new drive,, same model of drive. If the system was properly set up with redundant raid setup, you are good to go and you are done.
