I respect that, and it hurts that so many of his "fans" are rejecting him for being open about emotions.

He's a multi genre producer and artist. He goes by the alias Skrillex but prior was the singer for From First to Last until he stopped due to voice chord issues and wanting to move into the electronic where he donned his name Sonny Moore making a weird mix of sort of garage/edm then started producing with Deadmau5 and signed to his label where he released his first EP My Name is Skrillex. He has also made the title songs for Kingdom Hearts 3, which is cool as he was also a fan of the series growing up.

Probably overanalyzing and personifying too much here... But the spikes are defensive. You see some are damaged, as time passes, these will break. Imagine this character in 30 years, with few spikes remaining. The spikes are necessary to protect the innocent, tender individual inside. When our children lash out at us, when they push back - parents don't get it, but that is a child defending their boundaries, defending themselves and their feelings. The spikes are bloody because some adults in this child's life are either ignorantly or willfully ignoring the child's needs for a little distance, a little space to process. Children as a general rule are having a really tough time of it right now, and have the last decade or so. They aren't buying the same BS their parents and most of the rest of us born before 2000 have swallowed hook line and sinker. But when you go against the paradigm it strikes back, through people ignorantly following it, through adults, parental figures and role models, to preserve itself. I relate to this too, but coming at it looking back at my own childhood. In my case I was depressed, but the worst thing my parents could have done they did - they took me out of school. I was homeschooled after grade school, and this seriously stunted my social development. All these years later, my parents still don't understand me, and most everything they have done has only made things worse. But I can't be mad at them, and I don't want to hurt them. Our parents can only teach what they themselves have learned. That doesn't excuse their lack of effort in learning to be better parents though. I take what little comfort I can that at least the kid here has making music as a passion, and friends, a support group, to pursue that with. It sucks when you have absolutely none of this. This individual is trying to get through to the adults in their life the only way they know how, the only way they understand, the only way they can express it.
