My husband worked a few years at Draper and his father worked most of his working life at Draper where they made these machines in Spartanburg, SC. And many more of his family worked with these in cotton mills. I've always wanted to see how they worked. Thank you for sharing.
I use to be a loom fixer for Dan River down in Fountain Inn, SC at the old Beattie plant. This video brings back a lot of memories. Great job in restoring this loom back to working condition. I worked on the Draper X3 series, the 4 and 6 harness looms.
I worked for 6 years as a mechanic here in São Paulo back in the 80's.Hard job,but good times. The looms I was in charge of...was Northrop _ Blackburn (England ?) They were huge & green.Very alike this one.
I just bought a Draper model X2 over the summer. I just brought it home today. Looking forward to re-building it and running it. The name plate is dated 1944.
@@MoeJoe215 If you are still looking I am willing to sell mine if you are interested. It runs, I can show you a "dry run" since I don't have any yarn. My loom has a Leesona Loomfil automatic bobbin winder, and I have a lot of spare parts including spare shuttles, boxes full of bobbins, heddles and a spare comb for the beater bar. $3,750.00 negotiable.
Fixed on Draper looms 15 years!!👍😊

A lot of the old cotton mill machinery was sold overseas when the mills closed, so it's nice to see one in restored and in action.
