- The Torchwood Panel from Wales Comic Con: Telford Takeover in December 2022 with Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd. The duo chat through their work on the series, alongside talking about their continuing work with Big Finish on the audio dramas.
We last saw 'Torchwood' back in 2011 with the 'Miracle Day' miniseries, but with Russel T Davies now back behind the TARDIS controls, there is a bit more of a chance we might see some of the team return to our screens... Well, we can live in hope!
Torchwood was a great show it should be revived
They also voiced Merril and Solas in Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age Inquisition
I'm finding more and more that actors from different parts of the UK start their careers sounding like where they're from. Then after a few years, particularly after they make it big or do work in America, suddenly their accent becomes very London Standard, mid-Atlantic or the accent Americans typically associate with British people. The fact that Gareth, Eve and people like Anthony Hopkins and Tom Jones haven't succumbed to that is impressive. I grew up on British television in Canada and as a kid, I could never figure out why the same person who might be from Manchester, Liverpool, Essex or Cardiff suddenly sounds like every American stereotype of English people ever conceived. I know it's acting and sometimes you're playing an American role, but in many cases, it's sounds like an accent change for its own sake - I actually saw an American talk show where a joke was made about Americans not understanding some UK accents, so if some actors want success overseas, suddenly they sound like they've been hanging out with the Royal Family all their lives.
This talk was so busy, they were supposed to be in the proper theatre but got moved last minute!
