Hi everyone I finally got it to work from outside US. Just download the Hola free VPN add on to Chrome. Select USA then go to the Go 90 website and you can watch them all. You're welcome.
I get choked up when I think about this man and his art and the effect that it had on me. He is one of the reasons why I have always considered myself to be an artist.
Im so proud of you! Ive seen the show and your internet career grow up! I remember the first video I saw from you, the Prometheus exploration video and since then I was hooked on your show. You introduced me to great comics and great artist, got me into Lovecraft and chaos magick and some other weird stuff my parents would not approve of, and made me understand why I love x-men so much! I always recommend your show to people looking for better content on you tube and I am just so happy to see you get this far! Love this new show! Will go download the app to see it! :)
Thanks for all the kind comments to everyone that likes the show! We are reading them all! This week's new episode is on Hayao Miyazaki! Check it out over on go90. www.go90.com/profiles/va_d791e71ae1f34094ba2b2e9e5edf1352
Yes the Fantasy genre was dominated by two names, Frazetta and Boris. Frazetta had the rougher, earthier style but so dynamic as to take on an inner life. Boris's work was technical perfection although the majority of his work was taken from posed photographs and lacked Frazetta's energy his rendering skills were beautiful. It really was brain vs brawn, personally I can't go one over the other, I love the power of Frank's work but some of Boris's work is so sublime it just takes my breath away.
wow!! i really needed to see this. always loved his stuff, but never knew too much about him. knowing he STARTED painting at 30 is so inspirational! great great episode!! you're awesome because unlike some people on the net, you actually really LOVE comics, and the artform as a whole!!
Finally. the perfect length and content for a biography. You showed some of his work and why he was/is important and influential. Also a brief personal bio. I look forward to the rest of the episodes. p.s. love the white; the set, your outfit.
Great to see a proper video done for the man! Frazetta is the KING of this genre. I have been a fan of his since the early 80's and you did an awesome job Comic Book Girl on his biography. You know your stuff!! cheers !
When I started studying fantasy art, I realized quickly that there is a huge red line between "before Frazetta" and "After Frazetta". When he started painting covers there was nothing that looked like him, and after it was ALL influenced by him. And now, even 50 years later, Fantasy art is either influence by his design ideas and techniques OR sort of "anti-influenced", where the artists have to make a conscious choice to avoid his influence. That is the mark of a giant.
@@davedfw814 I think you missed my point, while actually repeating it in your reply. My point was that an AD or artist has to make a conscious decision to AVOID tropes that Frazetta created, because they are so influential. And that's what you're saying too, I think.
@@davedfw814 Great point! Someone finally telling it like is really is. Aside from being incredibly boring , all this Frazetta nonsense is soooooo tedious man.......
@@davedfw814 ..I call it screen addiction, all these people making dopey comments about Frazetta, claiming to be interested in Fantasy art etc are just like zombies. They can't respond to your comments because they know nothing about the subject, never went to art school, and no one ever hired them to produce anything, its all TALK and posturing-their just fools or paid hacks.
So glad these episodes are on youtube now. Thanks for doing this series. Anyone wanting more Frazetta check out the Frazetta: Painting with Fire documentary.
If a hot chick with awesome pink hair taught me things while a humorous robot student provided commentary when I was in school...I likely would have still done poorly in my classes. I was a terribly unremarkable student. But at least the experience would have been enjoyable!
As a Frazetta fan for many many years now, I approve of this episode. I'm an illustrator myself. And Frank is and always has been a huge inspiration. Thank you for enlightening the masses. ;) Although, If you are not already aware, the Death Dealer image also became the mascot and full size statue for "III Corps" Also known as the "Phantom Warriors." Which is another fun fact for you. ;)
My late husband (also an artist and from Brooklyn) took me to the Frazetta Museum back in 2009, while Frank and Elanor were still alive. I was shocked at how small the paintings actually are, considering how huge and dynamic the subjects are. I saw a painting that I had never seen before and was so in love with it, that I bought a print of it, that hangs in my living room today. Here is the painting: frankfrazetta.net/Serpent.html What caught my eye was the details in the bubbles, they looked real enough to pop them.
I visited the Frazetta museum in 2021. Frank Jr and his wife were there running it. I was surprised how small the museum is with the paintings jammed together. I also visited the Norman Rockwell museum which was 20x larger and looked like a major museum.
Thank you CBG19 this was a great show! I knew nothing about Frank Frazetta, but of course he was so influential I know I've seen him somewhere all my life. I wish go90 would let us watch the other episodes someday. Hope you keep making and selling shows like this, because the quality of the content you guys make deserves it.
love CBG's new show! the monotone set contrast's with the content in a great way. really makes the art work POP! great work, team 19 should be really proud. greater things coming in the future!
I have been a frazetta fan since I first saw his work in the 80's (yeah, I'm in my late 30's so....). The world of, Conan and all things fantasy was in my blood from birth. This is a good outlook video in dedication to Mr. Frank Frazetta.
Thank you comicbookgirl19 thoughtful things you complemented mr.frazetta with kind of you ,he was a mentor of creative inspiration to my artistic growth..and haveing such a beautiful well spoken young lady as yourself,do the commentary was delightful.
Thanks for this interesting art lesson, it's well documented, well scripted and well executed. I've learned and I've had fun in all my years of degree never had all those in one class and I felt so attracted to the teacher. Congratulations excellent work
Well welcome to the party... better late than never... been a fan since 1965... read my first Conan the Barberian novel by Robert E Howard and was totally impressed with the cover art. It was way tougher to find out about artists back then (I was just 7 going on eight then) but as luck would have it, the local book store had more Conan books and over a few weeks I got all they had. It would be years later when I was in Highschool (1972-76) that I found a whole book of Frazzetta art... what a inspiration for a young artist.
Thank you for bringing the Frazetta episode to youtube CBG19. I live outside the US so I can't access go90. I'm an illustrator and Frazetta is my hero, this made me really happy. I would love to see the Jack Kirby and Moebiues episodes one day too, if that's possible of course. Cheers.
Thanks for bringing it on youtube! In Italy we can't access go90, so i was really glad to see it here on YT. Hoping you bring the Moebius episode up soon!
We feel insulted that we were made to censor it too, there was a huge fight about it and it makes me feel both sad and embarrassed that we were forced to do this but it wasn't our call at the end of the day :/
Comic Book Girl 19 I image this may be due to the original place where you posted it right? Well, perhaps since this is now on RUclips that you can perhaps have an uncensored here? Just a hope.
Boris personally called Frazetta "The master" at Frank's surprise visit (and last) to a comic con. (San Diego 1994 I think? in the 90's for sure). To each their own. For my taste I'll take the original, "the master" over Boris any day of the week.
THANX CBG19 & TEAM! I REMEBER THIS ARTWORK FROM MY CHILDHOOD BUT I NEVER KNEW THE ARTIST. WAS BEING NOSTALGIC WATCHING FIRE & ICE. THEN YOUR NEW VIDEO DROPED. AWSOME TIMING! :-)
The only people fooled by FF were amatures. You'll notice on all his spam videos the only people completely brainwashed by FF's propoganda are clueless amatures. There are simply no pros interested at all.

And perhaps Frazetta's favorite Jeffrey Catherine Jones who was his contemporary and painted in a somewhat similar style.
Thank you, thank you, thank you CGB19. This was soo awesome to watch. You did a fantastic job. :-D More, more, more!!!
Too polished, too scripted, and too good. It has to be shittier! Haha, just kidding. It looks great, thank you for putting it together.

The Slave Leia costume closely resembles a few of Frank's paintings. The poster for A New Hope also has a similar type of composition as he used.
