    Mark this is an excellent video and an excellent way for us to expand our chord repertoire-I am highly impressed that you can teach a multiple number of chord families in one lesson. I wish I would have had this concept five years ago:) This is a novel idea as I have not seen this method taught in any piano method book.
    It takes a lot longer than 10 seconds so that is a huge overstatement, but I don't care about that. I care about learning my chords accurately, knowing their names, recognizing them on scores and playing beautiful chords while learning to make use of the Circle of Fifths and becoming a proficient, professional pianist. I really like the sound of Cm7 b5 chord and this is my first exposure to it, so Thank you. I am composing a classical-sounding piece in C Major-I wonder if I can plug this chord in somewhere? Perhaps when I experiment I can make it work.
    I think your pedagogy is right on and you teach it so consistently. I am just about halfway through this video, but I just had to stop and make some comments.
    I have already forgotten how you got the C Minor chord without mentioning its relative major or having drawn the inner circle for the minor chords, so it is worth my review and consistent study of this video- at least a couple more times. I had no idea that all these chord families were on the main Circle of Fifths! Such an interesting concept-thank you for sharing it with such great enthusiasm!
    I am excited to continue the video! Thanks so much for sharing this novel concept for I can see myself eventually memorizing the codes and then continuing to use it efficiently and copiously in every key signature-I am so glad that I found you!

    Hi Mark, very interesting but you have to memorize circle of fifth and you have to memorize 14 another codes for different chords. It is impossible to use it simultaneously wenn you play the piano

    • @michaelsmusic3532
      @michaelsmusic3532 3 года назад

      Actually after memorizing the basic circle of fifths it's very easy to use.
      He's just presenting material in a way that someone that's watching would probably want to have studied the concepts already. I'd be completely lost if it weren't that I'm familiar with music theory already. I'm going to be posting some of my own instructional videos to help those whom are just starting out.

    How is it that moving on the keyboard forward 7 notes is called a 5th? Shouldn't it be called the circle of 7ths?

    • @Marks_Piano
      @Marks_Piano  5 лет назад

      Hey Relicofgold, thanks for asking a question I can answer! :) This is because, if you move 7 notes to the right on the keyboard, you move across all notes, however, if we talk about the interval '5h' we do not move on all notes, but only on notes in the key/scale you are working in. Therefore example: (move on keyboard) 7 notes from C > C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G > this is the 7th note on the keyboard,. However, moving in the key of C> C, D, E, F, G it is now the 5th note, therefore we call that the 5th :)

      @relicofgold 5 лет назад

      Because in the A Major scale the 3rd is a C# and not a Db. If you don't believe it, just google it, since you tend to be a little stubborn ;)

      @@Marks_Piano I believe you. Unfortunately I don't understand much of this. Like progressing on the keyboard 7 notes, and then calling it a 5th. It's not logical to me.

    • @DevavratBonde
      @DevavratBonde 5 лет назад +1

      relicofgold well the thing is that, by counting 7 notes ahead of any note on the keyboard (consider the note C), you land on the 5th note in the scale of the key ahead of which you started counting the 7 notes (in this case, 5th note in the scale of C)

    So just me or is this quite a big bite to swallow. Just wondering, from any given key can you just play all these different chords without have to figure it out counting out all the the tones. And if you do how long did it take you to get used to this circle of 5th's methodology? In practice to play it without the acual circle and list in front of you?

      Hey Mariska, yes this is quite a lot of stuff :) But it's a tool that you can use when composing songs or trying to figure out how to play it, not to play from immediately. p.s. How did you get such a formula 152 for each major chord.
    I know that u counted towards the fifth note then back to 2. But why is that such a formula? Coz there's also 145, right? It was confusing?

      @Camille Grace Crisostomo You might be thinking about a common chord progression sequence used in pop songs, 1-4-5.
