""La taglia è tua... l'uomo l'ammazzo io" (1969), more commonly known as "El Puro", is a Spaghetti Western directed by Edoardo Mulargia. The plot is straightforward: the once infamous gunfighter "El Puro" (played by Robert Woods) is now a drunkard hunted by bandits for the $10,000 reward on his head. This looks to have been cheap to make, with limited interiors which are used quite a lot. But these sets look fairly realistic as they are filthy and grubby which gives in an authentic touch of the West. The camera-work by Antonio L. Ballesteros is mainly devoid of style, apart from a few crash-zooms. The editing is rough and hasty, with more than a few jarring cuts. The direction is more spirited, with a well staged gunfight and an excellently handled climax and manages to make some of the more slower scenes interesting enough at least to watch instead of skipping them and getting to the highlights. The acting is good in places, even if Robert Woods performance as "El Puro" is slightly disappointing after seeing his great role in "Black Jack" (1968), but Mario Brega, Marc Fiorini (as Ashborn Hamilton Jr.) and Maurizio Bonuglia acquit themselves well to there roles as the villains of the picture. Awesome film! This really brings the "realism" S-westers are known for to a whole other level. The sound track is almost identical to the dollars trilogy. I still can't believe they had the gipsy full on kiss cassidy!? What the heII was that??

Another superb story of western cowboy movie.
This movie reminds me of some novels that are easily 500 pages long and something is about to happen, doesn't, something is about to happen and doesn't ....... and just keeps on going like ethis.

Ever read one of the 800 page Stephen King novels that a plot build up every 20 or 30 pages and nothing, I mean nothing happens. THis movie is somewhat like those novels.

AN HOUR AND 33 MINUTE MOVIE STRETCH OUT INTO A THREE HOUR MOVIE BECAUSE IT WAS SHOT🎥 IN SLOW MOTION.
Not sure about that kissing scene, but the score is off the hook.

Wanted to see this for a long time
Ending could've been more clear; did the Mexican live? And no one likes it when the protagonist is murdered, shot in the back. That screwed it up big time.

30 minutes and not even a trace of a plot. But it has Mario Bega, the aristocracy of Spaghettis.

So so western. The first half was dragging .
HATED THIS MOVIE USING MUSIC FROM A CLINT EASTWOOD??
It doesn't use any specific music from any of those movies, but is clearly inspired by Morricone's scores. Alessandroni was the one who always whistled and played the electric guitar, as well as was the founder of the I Cantori Moderni chorus that were an eponymous aspect of many spaghetti western scores, so its more fair to say that both Morricone and him were instrumental in developing this specific sound over simple copying.
