It would. However, people did what they had to before land fills and the like. Usually when I find trash in these Tennessee mountains it is an old dump site. Most times they tried to put it all in one place and be as orderly as possible about it. Also to place it on an unusable \ inhospitable hillside.

The barrel with DOW painted on it was from DOW Kemical who was notorious for dumping barrels of forever chemicals down hills and into lowlands which feed water tables.

    • @eighmeeloo
      @eighmeeloo Год назад +4

But one barrel at the beginning of the barrel with an elongated double triangle and the capital letters DOW, would have been from the DOW chemical company. Could have had toxic chemicals that drastically changed landscape from heaven grass to be in Barron. Today that kind of dumping is so illegal. I hope the city cleans that area because it could make a great Park if it is not toxic.

The old brick was made by Copeland - Inglis B'ham Ala (Birmingham). Probably made in the 1800's

The smell of death you noticed could explain what became of the man who used film a program titled, GiddyUp Adventures. He was last seen at a petrol station in Columbus asking directions from two men who went by the names of Toothless and Mountain.

This time of year has a different feeling, as the colors slowly fade; the leaves start to turn and drop; and the weeds, having put all of their energy in their seeds, shrivel and die. Our trees are really turning colors here. Across the road one has turned a vivid orange on one of its branches.
The temperatures make walking in the woods much more comfortable except when you’re walking on what looks like an almost 45 degree slope. Was that just an illusion or were you actually on that sort of area.
It can be very creepy whenever you are looking at something where people were, especially if it seems out of place. Its like we become aware that it is something that was alive once, but has been abandoned and is decaying and desolate now.
It is disgusting that your new camera is overheating. You are not harping; it is extremely understandable to expect the camera to work better.
Good walk. Thanks for taking us along. Hope the camera issues improve.

Was thinking, this morning. For all the newbies to your channel, maybe you should do a sitdown chat, and talk about the history of your involvement with the Old Byrd farm. How you decided to take it on, what you were doing before and what led up to it. Family history connected to it. That kinda stuff. Same with the other channel. How you met The Other Robert, got interested in the local history and grave sites, etc. The Other Robert needs reminding anyways, and a new contract.

    Robert,
You've go to wonder how the safe and other big things got there.
I am sure there were old roads before it forested over.
Seeing the armadillo shell and hearing about the moccasins reminds me about those great
primitive areas of Georgia around Waycross and the Okefenokee Swamp.
I had a boat ride on that swamp and I would not like to fall out of the boat
and have to get to dry land.
    Scary!.
All we had in the PIne Barrens of New Jersey were Rattlesnakes and you rarely saw them,
of course there was The Jersey Devil :)
    GoPro is working well.
    Cheers,
    Rik Spector

Thank you for your interesting survey on that blown safe. Sometimes it’s hard for me to accept the stuff literally and thoughtlessly thrown out. I can easily state this as I now have two working Ford tractors and what was a broken down Crawler which is a Clee Trak (Clee Tractor) which were manufactured until their take over by Oliver
Tractor Company at about 1935. The fact is, most of this equipment after repaired -works very well and is easy to maintain. The rest - which is garbage, should be sent for recycling and then re-manufactured into something else.
    Thanks for your attention…

I'm from Europe and I'm always unpleasantly surprised and speechless. You have such beautiful landscapes in the USA and you're so proud of your country, and yet you turn it into a garbage dump and nobody cares. I see so many videos about the USA and no matter what the topic is, everything is covered up. And not just from the "good" old days. Whatever is no longer needed flies into the landscape and stays there. It's so unbelievably sad.

I'd say the waterline used to be way higher. The townspeople were dumping trash directly into the water for years. The sand dredge is a good indicator of that.

It’s all just old trashed dumped by the house owners back in the day. Back then, it was normal at farms and more rural homes to dump your trash over a hill or in a ditch because trash disposal services didn’t go that far if there even was one. Even if they did have one, they’d usually just pile up the trash and burn it or do the same thing and throw it over a cliff. I explore then all the time looking for valuable old cans and bottles.
