  • In preparation for our next big adventure, we take care of Loki's leaf spring situation by replacing his old leaf springs with a brand new set of Deaver, Stage 2 Expedition series leaf springs. These new Deaver leaf springs are rated for a constant bed weight of 400 lbs - 600 lbs, whereas his old leaf springs were rated for only up to 400 lbs. These new Deaver leaf springs should bring Loki back to a full 3" lift and significantly increase Loki's offroad ability with the ongoing overland build.

    Awesome truck build man!! I have the stage 3's on my Tacoma but I also have Dana 60's front and rear with 10 ply tires!! Talk about a stiff ride but I love it, I can haul and tow so much more.

    Truck looks great after the new springs. Most aftermarket spring packs don’t seem to last all that long.

    Any vibration/drive shaft shudder problems when lifting the rear that much?

    • @SunshineStateVikings
      @SunshineStateVikings  Год назад +2

      Thanks for the question! We have not experienced any vibrations or drive shaft shudders from the leaf spring install, however when we originally lifted the truck the 3” with the Old Man Emu BP-51 kit, it included a carrier Bering shim that helped correct the angle of the drive shaft to help prevent that from happening. In this video we removed the Old Man Emu springs that came from that original lift kit and replaced them with the sturdier Deaver set that provide the same 3” lift we originally had. We are still running these Deaver springs and they have held up very nice, hope this helps!

    how much weight over stock would you estimate you have in the bed?

    • @SunshineStateVikings
      @SunshineStateVikings  2 года назад +2

      Rtt-100lbs
      Water tank - 60lbs
      Cover and rack- 50lbs
      Tools- 30lbs
      Camping gear- 100lbs
      Kitchen box- 25lbs
      Water jug- 40lbs
      Cooler fully loaded- 70lbs
      Mounted air compressor- 15lbs
      About 500 lbs over a stock empty bed
      Hope this helps!

    Howd you like those bushwacker fender flares

    • @SunshineStateVikings
      @SunshineStateVikings  3 года назад

      They are good, we broke our stock ones during a water crossing, the force of the water broke all the clips holding them on. I will say the one thing I didn’t like about the bushwhackers was that they didn’t clip or mount to the body like the oem ones did. But other than that we think they are great and the body mounting hasn’t been an issue at all!

    • @benderbendingrodriguez2868
      @benderbendingrodriguez2868 3 года назад

      @@SunshineStateVikings thanks for the response. how do they stay on the body then? Is it just adhesives?

    • @SunshineStateVikings
      @SunshineStateVikings  3 года назад

      @@benderbendingrodriguez2868 no problem! so where the OEM ones clip to the body panel nothing holds it there but the pressure of the bushwhacker plastic resting against the truck with the rubber trim in between. its a fair bit of pressure as you end up having to press the the flares against the body pretty good to even get them bolted up. they only actually bolt in along the wheel well pretty much same way the OEM ones do. but nothing actually holds it against the truck but that pressure of the flairs curving against the body, if you tried hard enough you could get your fingers behind them and pull them away from the body at any time. I was skeptical when we put them on but they are a way stiffer plastic than the OEMS and them not being fixed to the body has not been an issue for us.

    People who name their trucks are such a curiosity to me. I think you said "Loki" 50 times. Really makes you sound like a clown. Someone who has least partially lost touch with reality.

      I like the name Loki. Named my 21 Trd Pro 6speed manual "Ralph" from Wreck it Ralph the movie. It's awesome as my 4 year old calles my truck Ralph. We're more in touch with reality than most people 😉

      @@farmermike9262 My mom once made me go to a birthday party for a neighborhood kid with special needs. All his short bus- friends were there. As I looked around the room I thought, "so this is how it feels to be in a roomful of imbeciles." I'm feeling the same way now. Meanwhile the whack job who created this video is probably off in his garage professing his love for Loki. And you are applauding him.

      Interesting you are so confused about this. How about the fact we are talking ‘monkeys’ on a ‘big’ ‘rock’ orbiting a big ball of fire supposedly out in the ‘middle’ of ‘nowhere.’ I think there are plenty of other things to be curious about other than a monkey associating a noise with one of his possessions
