As a Liverpool fan and a robbo lover. He’s not wrong. Robbo had never been the best player technically wise. His crossing is world class and he always had the energy and the ability to win the ball back but he’s erratic. The dodgy passes as always been there (granted never this often) but it’s always been there. Robbo’s decline is obvious for me because I’ve always focused on him as a player and I can see the decline clear as day, I hope he figures out the new system because to me he’s the best Liverpool left back of all time (over arne risse) and arguably one of the perm’s best lbs. But I’m not sure he can be good enough for this system, which is suited to Trent. Faysal is wrong however about robbo making vvd worse. He doesn’t. Simple as that rly.

One thing I have to point out, in regards to Pep getting “bored” and winning in different ways. He’s talked about this in the past, but it is extremely difficult to continue winning year after year, and that requires adapting to the circumstances. That’s why Sir Alex was so great, he kept chopping and changing the squad. Players get unhappy, opponents get better, players get older, etc. The ability to adapt is what’s impressive (ie he’s not just messing around with the squad just for bants)
signing a defensively solid right back makes so much sense for liverpool. It basically means they can play a 3-4-3 if they really wanted with trent on that right side more playing in midfield, it makes liverpool a much more fluid team and not knowing where ur man is in football is one of the easiest ways to confuse the opponent and find gaps to score

Liverpool need to replace Robertson because hes not amazing at building out from the back

As a Liverpool fan I gotta agree with most things being said here, Robertson has been on a steady decline and has been costing us so many goals with his erratic pressing, when it's Trent it's under a microscope but Robo gets away with a lot, hope he can get back to his levels playing with a more steady partner on the left like Diaz when the new midfield is built also because I don't see this inverted RB system being our default for the long term. Trent has been amazing but we're giving way too much work to Konate, we need a pressing machine of a midfield and back to heavy metal Klopp next season 💪

I think it’s a shame that robbo will suffer to complement Trent but ultimately Trent is more talented, younger, and is homegrown. Robbo either has to focus on staying back and loosing his attacking output or his spot will be taken by someone else. And this hurts me because robbo is one of my favourite players in this Liverpool era.
Julian Alvarez hasnt played the wing once for us at City, he’s always played striker, or just behind the striker or the kdb role. He’s a KDB replacement imo. Pep usually never plays both KDB and Alvarez together when Haaland starts, cause they’re both so direct and Pep wants control. Though he did say in the interview after fulham, he wants to find a way to put alvarez and KDB together so we will see next season.

If moved to midfield, Trent should be given a role similar Fernandes at United. His attacking attributes are alot stronger than defensively. Having a good holding midfielder behind him with the freedom to move about in midfield, over to the wings and focus on creating would be ideal for him.

Faysal is kind of half right about Robbo… it’s less of a technical thing and more of a discipline thing. He was very clumsy on the ball against Spurs yes, but typically his problem is the space in behind like Trent. However, in a back three in possession that space isn’t afforded because everyone shifts over. The problem is that Robbo is too attacking minded which means we now have even more space left behind him when he makes forward runs. I also disagree with moving Trent into being a midfielder. The reason why this role works so well is that moving from RB to CM creates space for him, if he is made a permanent CM he gets hounded in heavily congested areas and marked out of games. The inverted role is very hard to mark, which is why it’s so popular. To fix Liverpool’s problems, a rotation LCB (Ndicka) or a RCB who can also play RB would be ideal (Geertruida, Simikan, along those lines)
The premier league doesn’t have a player like Vinicius, Mitoma or Zaha are probably the closest thing to vini jr but not at the same level. Vinicius is probably the hardest player to defend in world football and Man City haven’t played someone like that. But Madrid are there for the taking as well, if chelsea had a decent attack they could’ve possibly went through and City not only have a world class attack but a goal scoring machine in Haaland that Madrid have also NOT dealt with. Militao will also be out in the first leg as well I believe, not that he would’ve made a difference.

We’ve seen teams play with inverted fullbacks that don’t move to midfield, no one in their right mind thinks zinchenko should play in midfield yet he picks up deep play making positions, you don’t have to play midfield to take up those positions, they are not mutually exclusive. The reason Trent is inverting is to support Fabinho in transition, as well as being able to pick up more “midfield positions” as opposed to just the right side. If you were to play Trent in a Henderson role he would be playing a completely different role, he’d be high up, pressing, making runs, creating space. As opposed to sitting deeper, recycling play, and distributing

Trent and robo in reality work off of each other and the MAIN problem is the midfield and how secure it is as well as a transitioning klopp system but no one wants to talk about that because it either a basic, generic point. Faysal Robbo section was good. Robbo is good defensively when it’s being physical but positionally or making those decisions to be a great defender he’s very rash. Robbo with his left foot is a weak technician on the ball. We need 3 CB for this system

His attacking attributes are alot stronger than defensively. Having a good holding midfielder behind him with the freedom to move about in midfield, over to the wings and focus on creating would be ideal for him.

As a Liverpool fan I’m happy Faysal spoke about Robbo and exposed the real truth about him. Faysal is kind of half right about Robbo… it’s less of a technical thing and more of a discipline thing. He was very clumsy on the ball against Spurs yes, but typically his problem is the space in behind like Trent. However, in a back three in possession that space isn’t afforded because everyone shifts over. The problem is that Robbo is too attacking minded which means we now have even more space left behind him when he makes forward runs.
I also disagree with moving Trent into being a midfielder. The reason why this role works so well is that moving from RB to CM creates space for him, if he is made a permanent CM he gets hounded in heavily congested areas and marked out of games. The inverted role is very hard to mark, which is why it’s so popular.
To fix Liverpool’s problems, a rotation LCB (Ndicka) or a RCB who can also play RB would be ideal (Geertruida, Simikan, along those lines)
The premier league doesn’t have a player like Vinicius, Mitoma or Zaha are probably the closest thing to vini jr but not at the same level. Vinicius is probably the hardest player to defend in world football and Man City haven’t played someone like that. But Madrid are there for the taking as well, if chelsea had a decent attack they could’ve possibly went through and City not only have a world class attack but a goal scoring machine in Haaland that Madrid have also NOT dealt with. Militao will also be out in the first leg as well I believe, not that he would’ve made a difference.

Why does everyone assume that Trent is now gonna move to midfield, it’s completely ludicrous. We’ve seen teams play with inverted fullbacks that don’t move to midfield, no one in their right mind thinks zinchenko should play in midfield yet he picks up deep play making positions, you don’t have to play midfield to take up those positions, they are not mutually exclusive. The reason Trent is inverting is to support Fabinho in transition, as well as being able to pick up more “midfield positions” as opposed to just the right side. If you were to play Trent in a Henderson role he would be playing a completely different role, he’d be high up, pressing, making runs, creating space. As opposed to sitting deeper, recycling play, and distributing
