About half way through the book. Have been reading and watching all I can on Stoicism for the last few months, as it resonates so well with me. Thank you, Massimo, for putting together such a logical, easily accessible guide. I have to say it's the most well constructed and relevant take on Stoicism I've come across so far.

I finished Massimo's book "How to be a Stoic" the other day. I would recommend it to anyone that is interested in learning more about stoicism.

A very interesting and cordial conversation. I feel Daniel Kaufman asks all the right questions.

Very helpful interview. I did not know that Massimo Pigliucci rejected the ideal of the sage. I feel the same way and I agree regarding role models and ideals. I'm glad to hear Dr. Pigliucci say that about ideals. That's a huge relief as someone interested in modern Stoicism.

Everything these guys are saying is pretty much how I try to live my life but I didn't have this nice framework to metaphorically draw it all out in my head. I'll need to look more into stoicism. Seems very useful

The problem, as I see it, is too many folks who profess to follow Stoicism think smiling while you're being beaten is just fine. The idea that stopping a beating is good ultimately for everyone doesn't seem to cross their mental masturbation minds. I am not saying that of Pigliucci. But one only has to read a few comments on a few sites and Stoicism is being presented as a drug that allows you to be mistreated.

I don't think the Cynic is the Stoic Sage. Socrates.was considered a Sage while Diogenes the Cynic was considered Socrates gone made. And Epictetus uses.Socrates as a Sage and Socrates as portrayed in Plato.and Xenophon was no Diogenes!

Sit there and be stoic while we watch our civilization collapse.

Bad form, gentlemen. The joke in the beginning was enough of a turn-off so as not to bother with the rest of the talk...

The guest cannot tolerate a shred of criticism. Hence he is no stoic, hence he has no right to speak on the subject.

Great show. bravo zulu. My question is, were both of you to live long enough you'll be forced to convert to Islam. How does this stoicism deal with intolerance of the desert theosophy?, otherwise in 30 years time your descendants would be shouting allahkuba, alhamdulillah. You guys must, yes, must, evolve a philosophy to counter Mohammedanism in Europe. UK is now a shariah state.

Good food and wine ? Do not sound like real stoic's choice.
