My family has a 2510 that we use to rake hay in the summer and it works pretty great. No major problems that I know of

and if u do have to pull the radiator and stuff replacce the hydraulic pump seal as well cheap insurance for $20

The pump is actually fairly new.

Have you tried rotating the balance shaft? I'm just wondering if maybe it froze up causing the gear to be sheared off of it?

It does rotate, very stiff, didn't notice any problems with rotating it either, the break point looks exactly like a break, doesn't have a torqued or twisted look at all.

mabey try replacing the balancer shaft bearings
