I wasn’t even allowed to download apps on my phone without her consent! So, when Elena was born, I was determined to be a better mum that mine was. When she turned 5 she asked to learn guitar so she could play it with our friends that we met at ‘The Big Hug’ at a festival. So we said ‘of course hunny, papa can teach you! Xx’. And with I the next year should could already play 16 full songs!! When she was 11, she asked to have her ears pieced, i thought about how I wasn’t allowed my done until I was 15, and I remembered my promise to my self to not be as hard in her. So I said ‘yes! We can get them done by Sky (friend who pieces ears professionally) how many do you want? And we can make you some earrings xx. Love you! X’. She got 2 on her right ear and later got 3 on her left. When she was 14, she said she liked a boy in her class and he asked her in a date to see the stars (perfect date, for me anyways). So I said ‘can I meet him before you go out at night with him? I’m just looking out for you. X’. And because I let her do what her heart desires, she said ‘that’s probably for the best, thanks mama x’. (Life lesson there, if you give your kids more independence and kindness, they won’t go behind your back). When I met this boy, Arlo, I thought he was very sweet, and Elena seemed to feel safe with him, so after he stayed for tea, we gifted him with a necklace with Elena’s favourite flower, sunflower, as a sign that she’ll always be with him. So they went on their night walk and after an hour she came home. She said he complimented her a lot and was very funny and generous. After a few months, he started coming to festivals with us, and hanging around the van. We all went in walks around the woods to feed the birds squirrels. One time, I caught Elena and Arlo making a small tree house a few meters away from our van. I thought it was so funny and cute! They ended up sleeping up there for a few nights once they had made it sturdy. They didn’t do anything dirty btw😂. When all I wanted to wear were colourful hareen trousers, oversized t shirts and long necklaces and bracelets. Anyway, I was never allowed to pick what I wanted to wear or who I wanted to be friends with. So I was very happy when I moved out. I wasn’t even allowed to download apps on my phone without her consent! So, when Elena was born, I was determined to be a better mum that mine was. When she turned 5 she asked to learn guitar so she could play it with our friends that we met at ‘The Big Hug’ at a festival. So we said ‘of course hunny, papa can teach you! Xx’. And with I the next year should could already play 16 full songs!! When she was 11, she asked to have her ears pieced, i thought about how I wasn’t allowed my done until I was 15, and I remembered my promise to my self to not be as hard in her. So I said ‘yes! We can get them done by Sky (friend who pieces ears professionally) how many do you want? And we can make you some earrings xx. Love you! X’. She got 2 on her right ear and later got 3 on her left. When she was 14, she said she liked a boy in her class and he asked her in a date to see the stars (perfect date, for me anyways). So I said ‘can I meet him before you go out at night with him? I’m just looking out for you. X’. And because I let her do what her heart desires, she said ‘that’s probably for the best, thanks mama x’. (Life lesson there, if you give your kids more independence and kindness, they won’t go behind your back). When I met this boy, Arlo, I thought he was very sweet, and Elena seemed to feel safe with him, so after he stayed for tea, we gifted him with a necklace with Elena’s favourite flower, sunflower, as a sign that she’ll always be with him. So they went on their night walk and after an hour she came home. She said he complimented her a lot and was very funny and generous. After a few months, he started coming to festivals with us, and hanging around the van. We all went in walks around the woods to feed the birds squirrels. One time, I caught Elena and Arlo making a small tree house a few meters away from our van. I thought it was so funny and cute! They ended up sleeping up there for a few nights once they had made it sturdy. They didn’t do anything dirty btw😂.
