@ Devashish Pandey, Dada ke baare mein jitna kahiye, kam hai. Itne mahaan insaan thay ki bayaan karna mushkil hai. Hamaare 150 se zyaada RUclips par videos hain. Dekh leejiyega. Comments ke liye shukriya. Dhanyawad.
extraordinary tribute to an extraordinary composer ! wonderful to know about dada's childlike innocence and straightforwardness ! indeed , I have always felt that his music was never typed , he had no signature tune , each of his composition was different , but still recognizable as the work of this genius composer ! glad to know that I am not the only one to feel like that ! thank you once again sir for this upload !
crazyoldsongs Dada S.D. Burman has many admirers all over the world, including Pakistan and Bangladesh. Once, when writer Javed Akhtar asked me what was one most important reason that I had liked his music so much? My reply, "Dada Burman's music always remained young". All other music directors faded away in their old age, but he was in demand and his music remained young till his last days".
Kudos to Pt. Shivkumar Sharma for bringing out some intersting facets of Great SD Burman. His music was sort of above classica, caring for common men. His humour was highlighted with Hariprasad ji's Rosogolla incident. He had no ego or airs which was evident in his going all the way to Madan Mohan's house to appreciate song of film Mausam. SDB had a childlike innocence n truly genius in his work.
Archisman Mozumdar, Thanks for the encouragement. Dada Burman's graceful acts towards both Shiv Kumar Sharma and Madan Mohan show his greatness. By the way Shiv Kumar ji has clarified in a mail to me through his secretary that it was an earlier film 'Heer Ranjha' (1970) for which Dada Burman had driven to Madan Mohan's residence on Peddar Road in Mumbai (then Bombay).
Respect to you Sir for acknowledging North East India because 99% of the people thinks SD Burman is a Bengali but he is half Tripuri and half Manipuri inspired by Bhatiyali music.
@Parisienne Moonlight, SD Burman was born in Tripura, but he belongs to India, Bangladesh and the entire world wherever his fans are. Are you aware what he wrote at the end of his autobiography?
@@lalwanimoti well its clear you didn't understand the comment. I never said he is not Indian nor his music is for certain people. It's to those ppl who are spreading wrong information about him being a Bengali. By the way do you even know who are the original people of Tripura?
Yes Parisienneji I read somewhere that Legendary SD Burman could speak Manipuri quite fluently because his mother was a Manipuri who was the Daughter of Royal King of Manipur.🙏
v balaji Very true. As per Vijay Anand's interview posted on Facebook in 'S.D.Burman (Sachin Dev Burman Fan Club)' group, several music directors used to approach him for advice to improve their songs before recording.
Legendary SD Burman gave Legendary Salil Choudhury the idea of musical tunes for the popular song of Film Madhumati written beautifully by Legendary Shailendra and sung wonderfully by Singer Legendary Mukeshji, the song was Suhana Safar Aur Ye Mausom Hasin🙏🙏
@Ghalib Mahmud Laskar, Bimal Roy wanted SD Burman Dada to compose music of Madhumati. Dada was busy, so he suggested Salil Chowdhury’s adding that Salil would do a good job. Bimal Roy agreed on the condition that Dada would the tunes. As per Salil Chowdhury’s interview Dada suggested minor changes. In ‘Suhana safar’ song Dada suggested to add chirping of birds. Even though Dada and Lata were not working together, it was Dada who asked Salil to take Lata for female songs.
Yeas It is Dada Burman---Very simple ----Very funny---Wise-----Broad minded----Left all for Music---Prince of music world----Magician of music----Very nice& meaningful posting to Understand How great Dada Burman was----Thanks a lot Motiji
Pranab Kumar Biswas bhai, It is very true what you write about Dada Burman. He was a wonderful singer, a geat composer, and left his luxuries to pursue his love for music.
Not sure if Madanmohan ji's film (as a music director) "Mausam" quoted by Shivji is correct because Madanmohan ji and Sachin Da both had left their bodies before release of the film in December, 1975. Perhaps, the song that fascinated Sachin Da was from film Dastak (1970).
Amit S, You are right. Later, when we met Madan Mohan's son Sanjeev Kohli, he clarified that Burman Dada landed in their house after listening to 'Heer Ranjha' songs, and he was the one who had opened the door. This was conveyed by me to Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma ji. As regards Dastak, it is in one of our recorded interviews where one of the musicians told us in a recorded interview that one day Dada called up Madan Mohan in his presence to compliment him that his song, 'Hum hain mataaye koocha' from Dastak was very superb.
बर्मन दादा महान गायक और संगीतकार थे।उनकी प्रतिभा को सलाम।आप उनके बारे में इतनी महत्वपूर्ण देते हैं आपको भी धन्यवाद सर।

Nirmalkumar Phophalia He was very humble. As they say, he was like a tree which bears more fruit and leans down even more in humility.
Very nice analysis & anecdotes. Thanks for sharing.
