Subnautica is my favourite game to ever exist. It’s not because of the ‘totally relaxing’ quality or how ‘every fish is cute’ but it’s because it’s a living nightmare don’t play unless you want to be scared to death… I have dark humour so I’m fine with the horror.. I love it, in fact! The further you go from those shallows and the kelp forests the more mortal terror you feel. Also don’t go to back of the spaceship, if the radiation doesn’t kill you… the reapers will of you like horror have no regard for what I just said but if you don’t STAY IN THE SHALLOWS. Also there is some cute thing you can find, like a cute little fish egg you can hatch in a base aquarium. It’s called the cuddlefish, and it’s so adorable… but it’s also The scariest thing in the whole game, Because it’s the only thing that wants to be your friend in that cruel world and if it dies… that’s the scariest thing in the game for sure. Please take care of a cuddlefish. You can find most of them inside of something that’s a spoiler but it’s cool and green and big and not alive, also the lore is a bit dark… there’s a deadly disease called kharaa that took over the planet. Eventually you find there’s green spots on you hands (the rest is spoilers) And well this disease is infectious enough to break into that spaceship, the aurora, so naturally the aliens that used to be there built a super weapon that destroys anything that comes too close to the planet. That’s how you crashed. There were thousands of people on that ship and you’re the only survivor. The aliens built these monsters that can teleport and are hardwired to kill anything infected. Cuddlefish were the prototype but something surely went wrong as cuddlefish aren’t dangerous. They were too cute to be monsters so the aliens built a new creature with a similar body shape, and these ones can teleport. They worked so if you get infected stay away from squid things with blue claws and four purple eyes. Their skin is also purple.
