  • EP.16 of 30 Day challenge. This a little throwback video from crappie fishing in August, where I used the drop-shot crappie fishing rig to catch deeper suspended crappie on brush piles and over open water.

    I like the concept. My go-to is a 1/2 oz dropshot with double rig using same hook as you are here. I use Crappie Sliders by Charlie Brewer (Gold fleck w/ Chartreuse tail). I have been seeing a lot about the pink your using and I'm having difficulty finding any. That tells me something about how popular they are. Thanks for the video. I'm going to put this in my war plan against the crappie.

    Getting the Juniors put a bigger hook and bait.

    I hate running into those Crappie Daycares. They are all fun to catch though. I like the rig you were using too. I'll have to try that.

      Same deal here in Va.. Looks like they act somewhat like big bass, bigger fish hang togather. Also they like shade over them or even heavy cover. They can be hard to locate at times..FLC Dennis.

    Why would you not use double or triple jig rig in this situation?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  3 года назад

      You could also use the double jig setup, I just wanted to try the drop shot in this video. On most days, there are usually a few different techniques that will work

    nice video any way even if it wasn't the one you wanted to put out. and as long as the slabs was cooperating who care if you didn't chat the whole way thru it. and i guess you had to go somewhere else for lunch instead of the kitchen but thats how it is when you are fishing

    Btw I tried that crappie rod today because I just received it like 2 days ago. I caught around 10 crappie today in a couple hrs after work around docks. But man this rod is so sensitivity. You can feel everything. It's a little heavy the rod but I think I will get used to it.
    Also Idk if you have a video on shooting docks if you can demonstrate for us.

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 лет назад +1

      I will try to film some dock shooting this fall, it's not something I normally do. The rod will take a bit to get used to, and yes it will seem super sensitive but you will feel every bite.

    How come you don't use down imagery instead of sonar

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 лет назад

      I use both. My sonar on the bow of my boat only has 2d sonar and GPS, no down imaging. The unit on the dash has side, down, and 2d which I use all of them.

    Okay thanks. Do you anchor the front, middle, or rear of your boat to keep it still?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 лет назад

      I tie it on to the one of the front cleats, depends which side of the boat i'm fishing on.

    LOST VIDEO!!! I know your pain. I have some swimming pool footage I shot of some rigs swimming and I can't find it!! Too many "gig-o-stuff". Try to knock out videos every day, especially if you are dating yourself, is TOUGH!! Love your content!

    You talked a good bit in the video. Also, do you anchor or use an Ultrex to keep you over the crappie?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 лет назад

      I edited the video down to where it seemed like I talked a lot haha. I normally use an anchor, (I don't have an ultrex), but the water was very calm when i filmed this so i could just use my trolling motor.

    How you like your ACC Crappie Stix? Is that 8' model you have on the video a one-piece model? I'm thinking about getting one as well ---- the Green Series 8' model, which I think is also what you have on the video if I'm not mistaken.

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  5 лет назад +1

      I really like my ACC Stix. The 8' is a two piece rod, all of the ACC stix are two piece except the kids 5' rod. The 8' is my go-to rod because its a hybrid cast/jig rod. I do a lot of casting with the 7'6", but its nice to be able to vertically jig at the same time without switching rods. Be sure to use coupon code FC10 to save 10% Off.

      @grandwonder5858 5 лет назад +1

      Hey Floppie Crappie, thanks a lot for your response! I appreciate it, man! And thanks for the coupon code as well! The only problem I have right now is the fact that every single one of the rods that I checked out at the ACC Crappie Stix's website is out of stock! I don't know when they are gonna have more for people to buy, if they even still make them at all! BTW, the Green Series rods are what I'm interested in.

      I just talked to Andy (the owner) and a shipment should be coming in before the end of October. You can also pre-order rods so that as soon as they come in, they will ship them to you.

    It's really no fun with long rods five turns on the reel and you lift the rod and you have the fish in. Am I the only one who likes the fight of fishing?

    • @FloppingCrappie
      @FloppingCrappie  4 года назад

      sometimes longer rods are necessary to get the bait/lure away from the boat.
