4 different batteries. Absolute madlad
Love the mixed battery roast 😂
Tee hee!
@@TheRetroFuture Hah!
@NextdoorGamer Yeah!
Elliot, you are such a troll XD
Best part of the video !! 🤣🤣🤣
Hey Elliot, I just had a quick suggestion for you-
I know you've been doing Game Boy refurbishing far longer than I have, and I pretty much learned everything I know from your videos... However, I just wanted to share my experience with you regarding retro bright-ing.
I know you've been using the HP cream and the UV nail hardener for a long time, but the method I use is filling a shallow tupperware container with run-of-the-mill liquid hydrogen peroxide, putting the gameboy shells in (with the inside facing down and the outside facing up), covering the container with a sheet of saran wrap, and letting it sit out in the sun for 6-8 hours or so.
I did this with some unbelievably yellow game boys, and I couldn't believe how evenly the retrobright turned out. It genuinely looks like a new game boy straight out of the factory, absolutely no streaking.
I know this obviously depends on what kind of weather you're having, and again, I know you've used your method for a long time now, but I would suggest giving it a shot on at least one shell to see what you think :)
Hopefully I'm not out of line, but I feel like a suggestion wouldn't hurt!
@@ShaneSemler Hahaha, nope. I had a feeling I would get that reply from someone
I think he should brush the cream if he will use it, btw do u use just hydrogen peroxide from a pharmacy? Like 10 volume one? Does it work?
@@planker3004 Yes, exactly! It works fantastic!
He's mentioned that he prefers the nail thing because he's in the UK aka Grey Britain.
That sounds awesome. My only problem is that I live in the uk and we don’t get sun for 6-8 hours 😌
6:12 when you stopped the music 😂😂😂
:)
Good fish
You should make a video about your collection :)
Maybe soon!
Of Gameboys, or battery brands? 😜
Yeesssss definitely 102.3% correct!!! Pleaseeee
Love the screw fail humour 👌🏻
Im glad!
idk if its intended.. but the music with the bird sounds, wow. its like a new morning, a fresh start, with a now clean, and pure gameboy. so artistic. very nice shot
I had no idea the white was a limited edition, had one for ages and modded it too with a bivert/backlight. It's my goto DMG. Nice resto dude looks ace!
So YOU were the one that snagged the listing! Nice snag and good job with the restoration. I was concerned that the final retrobrite color would not match where the stickers had protected the original color.
That little silent awkward moment with the wayward screw at 6:12 is a perfect example as to why I love this channel.
These people need to calm down about the mixed batteries... For the length of time you're using them it's not going to make the slightest bit of difference 😂
IT WILL CORRODE THE CONTACTS
Beautiful shot composition. Your videos go up in quality with each upload, Elliot!
Awesome video as always . Love seeing these machines restored back to former glory .
Loving the consistent uploads, man.
That batteries joke had me rolling in bed, good show!
Great video! I saw a few other people pointed this out already, but I could also hear some echo off of the walls during the speaking portions at the desk.
People say they want all of the same batteries
Elliot like an absolute madlad puts in 4 different batteries.
The Retro Future everyone :)
Love this channel so much haha
I’m loving the quality and quantity of the uploads!!
Keep up with the amazing work, and congratulations for the 100k!
Your videos inspired me to fix three DMG's, a DS, an NES (still don't understand how the f i pulled that off), a Color and an Advance SP. The best thing I did actually wasn't even a real repair, but it was cleaning my clear purple GameBoy Color that I had for 14 years. Good lord that thing was nasty... It looks absolutely wonderful now! I also immediately got a Mario Vs Donkey Kong SP whitch i used to have after i saw a video of you cleaning it up. I had to sell it years ago because of financial trouble as a kid... I regretted it ever since. Getting an Sp like that in my hands again was a magical experience to me. Man this comment is way too long... Anyway, thank you for the awesome content!
Nice one!!
Man the quality of your videos just continues to get better keep it up
blown away with how beautiful the gameboy looks in white!
I know right!!
That one shot where he makes sure that we all know that he still has the mixed batteries in the Gameboy is just 👌👌👌
Looks amazing! So satisfying to watch the cleaning process. 😍😍
And that battery roast tho 😂
Battery banter was on point.
Oh god how satisfying is it to see it clean
great stuff! after watching all of you videos, I kinda got nostalgic, and bought one DMG from japan. Non working of course. For 10eur. I was really looking forward to repairing it, but as soon as I got it, I turned it on, and it worked :D I just had to clean it. I might try that anti oxidation stuff to return its original color.
great channel! :)
That looks really nice, good job! I'd be tempted to replace the front polariser to get rid of the orange boarder, but the polariser film I cut mine out of results in a slightly different colour screen than standard. If yours is the same, I can understand not wanting to change it.
Also can we give props to the dude who went out of his way just to mix batteries?
Yo Elliot, you should definitely make a discord server for your channel. I really enjoy your videos, and I do blame you for getting me into retro gaming... which I LOVE! You’re amazing, keep it up mate!
I see no problem mixing brands. Just when it comes to mixing the types, alkaline and lithium, that can damage your electronics.
Beautiful close up camera work, lol at the screw that went off part
You always take such amazing photos.
Huge fan here, from Chile, South America. Keep it up Elliot!
Thank you!
Man, that turned out awesome!
Watching you play tetris on that thing reminded me of how big those were. I miss those things.
had the purple advance and the black SP. it's somewhere in my pile of stuff. just have to look for it
I bought the bleaching product but i don't have an uv nail lamp machine like you. Could I do it under the sun? Also its winter so does the intensity of the song also make a difference...
someone should send in some consoles such as og nintendo, atari, etc, just as an experiment fr it would be cool to see this man bring back retro more than just on the bus ride home but at home as well.
Just noticed that you made it past the 100k subscriber mark ... congrats!
For smaller items like this, it's much better to just use regular 3% peroxide and completely submerge the item.
It takes longer to work (up to a week sometimes) but it is much less likely to give a streaky/blotchy look.
It is my personal belief that it is more permanent too, but I don't have a large enough sample size to prove this.
I used this method to whiten some VERY yellowed keyboard keys, and they are still perfect nearly ten years later. The real surprise is that the keyboard sits on a desk near a window, and is almost constantly exposed to sunlight.
that level of spite with the batteries was absolutely iconic
Hi. What do you use to glue the dark grey screen protector back in place?
Hi,great video,i like the white Gameboy, looks brand new to how it was before.
Thanks Steven!
I’m always curious what the serial number stickers think about your soapy water technique
loved your mixed battery roast 😂
What kind of glue would one use to attach an original screen in a temporary fashion so that its possible to upgrade to glass later?
As a fellow Brit I too mix batteries, never had a problem
Quick question my gbc a button doesn't work but b button does do you think my contacts need cleaned? PS love the vids
I mix batteries all the time. You are now one of my favorite people. :3
If you’re reading comments please could you tell me where you found the Nintendo triwing bit for your xiaomi set (I have the same set)? I’ve tried to comment on many other videos.
Hey man quick question relating to odroid go, how long does the battery last? Cheers
Which cleaners are you using? I think I might have to do this with the GBA's we have here.
Nice work! It turned out really good.
The mixed batteries bit is the best part about this video.
Is there an easy way to recognise a classic Grey DMG-01 from a White Play it Loud, especially when they are old and discoloured?
What about getting a wooden box, with an open top, where the inside is covered in a reflective material (like tin foil) and suspending a couple of UV bulbs above that? Might be better than a nail lamp with him foil over the front. Just a thought 😊
What retro brite do you use. i cant seem to find it anywhere
Well done on the edit
Would you know how to fix dead pixels on an original game Boy? I dropped it and now there are black spots on the screen and it doesn’t turn on.
Great video man! i want to know, how many GB do you have in your collection?
@TheRetroFuture Please do a video on fixing vertical and horizontal lines on DMG screens... Please? Or a video on how to shop for cheap Gameboys (damaged or not)...
Haha that mixed battery’s resolution make me laugh good video Elliot
Elliot please help! I have an original dmg, an original black play it loud dmg, and now just recently I bought a white play it loud dmg. I was inspired by this very video, I just love the look of an all white gameboy.
Here's the problem: I believe the white GB is an aftermarket replacement shell, so possibly the buttons are replacement buttons as well. Whenever I play Batman on either of my two other gameboys, pressing diagonal down on the Dpad will cause batman to crouch and crawl so I can get under low areas however on the white GB pressing diagonal down does absolutely nothing. Left and right directions work, down direction works (batman will crouch) but pressing diagonal does nothing and batman won't move. Is this a problem with the contacts? Is it the silicon membrane? The dpad? Please help!
Keep em coming dude loving the content once again! :)
I loved this video its was so satisfying🎮👍. Probably one of my favourite videos yet😀
Any ETA on the Clockwork Gameshell follow up video?
Nice video as always. I managed to find a traditional white one for my collection, but is it really that rare?
Congratulations on the channel!
thumbs UP for the battery mix!
Is it wired tat one of the things I adore about your refurb videos is that you use interesting cinematography rather than having a stationary camera at all times?
Not weird at all!
How many will be enough for you? Or will it always be N+1?
What did you use for the board cleaning. This is neat it would look awesome with black buttons as well :D
Love the music and the video!
Thank you!
when is the gameshell software video coming out
These are satisfying to watch :’)
You use the best music in your videos.
Nice old Game boy original white version :)
Amazing!!!! Buen trabajo bro, saludos desde CHILE
Nice rebuild
As always great job.
the music must be half the reason I come here. its very excellent
You sarcastic boy.... i love it 😂
Guess you've already ditched the ultrasonic cleaner 😂
i can see it being used just for cleaning a lot of stuff at once. a dmg though id want to savour the process. like the toy restoration guy in toy story
I don't think the DMG shell fit in it. The GBC shell was a tight fit.
Just missed the rewarding satisfying scrub!
Just looking at your videos with/without the ultrasonic cleaner, I think a good old scrub actually produces better results.
Very satisfying video,good job elliot,your fan,from malaysia..
If you can do more Gameboy micros that is one of my favorite ones
Love the videos! Hoping you can fix the audio echo when you're sitting at the table talking.
I have moved flat, so my room no longer has my bed in it which previously dampened the sound. This will be fixed soon when I move my setup.
Mixed batteries are lovely
Are you going to do a video about your GameBoy collection?
Hey Retro, when are you making the Game Shell Software video??
Great video as always. I so need a dmg myself
Anyone know where i can get the gameboy colour ribbon cable for the ags 101 screen
Handheld legend should have it.
What about moding a switch dock to make it portable
You should do the whole play it loud series
That was one crunchy looking GameBoy! Yowza
I have a question about the isopropylalcohol you use. In some videos you use a clear(more like white plastic) bottle, but in this video and other videos you use this brown bottle(which looks like the bottles used in a lab)
Only difference is the bottle!
well how much do you use pr. video then?
How about a video showing us your retro handheld collection? You must have a lot now. Talk about what your favourites are
nicely done like the music
Try polishing the glass to remove scratches
This is the best asmr channel
can you do a tour of your game console collection!
Why did you removed the serial number sticker? Why?
