  • After our 2014 Ireland trip (link below), I’ve been itching to return and complete the entire coastline of Ireland in particularly finishing the Wild Atlantic Way. In 2014 we had beautiful sunshine for the eight days of the tour, in fact it was like a mediterranean holiday so for our 16 day tour we decided to go back at the same time of year unfortunately this time round was very different. This is our 2017 road trip starting from Dublin and travelling anti-clockwise round the coastline of N. Ireland and onto the Wild Atlantic Way in the northern part of R. Ireland.
This Northern stretch of coastline is definitely quieter than the southern part with its own individual charm.

With big thanks to 'The Balladeer', a musician we met on our 2014 trip who graciously allowed us to us his music royalty free on out films.

Great video. ...excellent! . I go to Ireland on my bike every summer and 'usually ' have great weather. ...but it's a lottery! . I will never tire of riding the roads around the peninsula's of the West of Ireland. Steve

fantastic video i had to laugh seeing the two of you standing in the rain,
its typical of Ireland the very minute you get on the bike it rains five minutes later

Many more beautiful places to discover here in Ireland. Also look up Irish photo rally for some great points of interest

I think the south section of the WAW are the best, in particular all of the peninsulas around kenmare. If you go back there again, have a look at "roadtroopers" youtube videos as there were a lot of rural single coastal tracks and also mountain passes that you missed.I have been there for the last 4 yrs and normally stay in a self catering in kenmare and then go out each day for 4-5hrs trips around all of the peninsulas . At least when you get back each day you know what accommodation you are coming back to each day ! also as you know kenmare pubs and restaurants are plenty and great. Let me know if you want me to send you some map files for your sat nav of all of the passes and tracks etc

Mike, thats very kind of you. You make a very good point regarding staying in one place and riding out from there each day, a lesson I learnt on this tour. Its quite tiring when your moving on every day especially if your kit is wet. I also agree that the southern part is the best having completed it on 2014 (ruclips.net/video/cUyd1J3_Ulc/видео.html). We'll definitely be going back some time.

HOW COME YOU DIDNT VISIT ACHIL ISLAND?

Time and weather my friend. It kept us from going to so many places. We had serious issues drying kit after a days riding so had t change our plans drastically. I take we missed something special

Such a great vid of you're holiday/tour,Ironically its about 90% the same as a route weve got planned for my 50th in June on our RT,Hopefully i'll get some Gopro footage of it.Also what editing software are you using? Have fun and stay safe Rick and Jue

Hi Rick, thanks for the comments. June is a good time to go I think, we went in September because we'd been at that time in 2014 and it was fantastic weather but as you've seen it wasn't good last year. Thats the thing with Ireland, you can't plan the weather. Safe riding in June, I know you'll have a good time. I'm editing on a Mac using Final Cut Pro.

Sorry Tim, did not mean it like that, I should have said with 2 up and luggage the 650's usually struggle, will check out your other trips, cheers. Dave.
