Absolutely amazing character Quint was. A real man through and through. “You got city hands Mr Hooper” line was absolutely superb. Masculine, unapologetic, competent and totally fearless
Robert Shaw. Classic drunk Irish actor. Brilliant and temperamental as all get out. Loved him in "Swashbuckler". The "Quint"essential pirate movie. Get it? If you haven't seen Swashbuckler you don't know how much fun pirate movies can be.

It was an in-joke because the mayor of the town they were filming in was giving them crap over zoning laws regarding the construction of Quint's shack. In the actual story it could be because he lives in a shack on the docks, which I doubt would be a residential zone. I don't think the other fisherman on the island actually live on the docks.

Love the way Spielberg frames these characters. You'll notice Brody is always in the middle. The chemistry between these 3 is incredible.

I knew fisherman in Scituate MA who lived on the vessels they worked aboard. These guys were tough bastards who didn't function well on dry land.
