This game by far has the most toxic community I've ever seen in an animal sim. Like I think this is the only game I've seen where clan are 90% of the playerbase and all they do is come up with more and more unhinged and complex strategies just to kill a single person. I have no idea how it's gratifying to win when you are jumping someone. Sometimes I wonder what could be happening in their lives to have to get out this much hate towards random people online.
Toxicity is usually a sign for a miserable life or a terrible upbringing. lol, when a group of them get together, it's like that and then there's the case of the weak hearted just following suit ,who probably don't agree but are just too puxxy to speak up and then there's the case of the ones who really have no friends outside of the game and also just follow orders

Fought that clans dragons like a champ to the very end. It was an awesome journey. That reminds me though, the reason why animals in the wild do not take revenge and sometime don't even bother to chase and actively seek out a prey who gets away from them is because they values their stamina and energy to survive. Chasing a prey for too long or chasing and fighting other animals for "revenge" is just not worth the effort for them, that is straight up human mentality.
Eh, plenty of intelligent animals are vengeful. Elephants, dolphins, chimps, the like. It’s not exclusively human :) but it is exceedingly rare. The higher the IQ, the more capacity for nefariousness ~

this game looks like a unity asset flip but they stared at the isle and tried to give it an isle paintjob. my hat is off to you for tolerating dogshit but the rest of us have standards.
As a backer, this games devs care more about merch announcements or ingame events then developing. Dragons like bio whom are the fastest dragons can just mark you neon and safely track you for the clans. Drakes are also locked behind a pay wall and are fucking op steals your Stam boys. Then there's the newest dlc dragon that is also faster then there toothless, can summon storms and can stun you, locked behind a pay wall. Sure you can be nested in. But because it's a clan sweat fest game you will never get to unless you buy the dlc. Or join a can.
The blitz is so weak im shocked that it's dlc. (No pun intended) They made a snake like dragon with less ground mobility than a wyvern. The drake is basically overpowered anti air. The devs also abandoned the realism they mentioned for cute colorful skins. The devs seem to have no direction planned even for their main commodity. Imagine if in GTA 5 the cars didn't work properly..that's 80% of the total product being non functional. And don't get me started on the fact dragons survive by mushrooms and crystals...smh
@Tank-X1954 it's the rival from the franchise HTTYD too which is crazy. So disappointed with the fat slow cow rhino nurse dragon is. Would of been nice to see one long elegant dragon model and it would of been fitting. But the nurse dragon looks like the comic relief nanni in any movie where there is a fugly person and the main character replaces them with someone hotter.
and that is depressing, because the encounter with the baby dragon was so adorable. I love games that breed friendliness. but sad people only seem to have fun griefing each other.
Really enjoyed this one, lots of story and great music too, sucks to see the game still filled with clans, hopefully that changes one day. Maybe we'll see another DoD vid some day 🙌
I'm astonished they managed to drive this game into the ditch even before they released it. And with an average playercount of 400 players-ish, I'd say that the fact they don't try to change just proves this has to be on purpose.
This guy always makes great story lines out of these games. The downside is, he does so good you think you can do the same. So you download the game, and feed the rest of the player base with all the newborns you spawn in with lmao

Clans are not killing the game if you cant handle dying in a PVP based game go play PVE theres no pveing in PvP there are solo servers made for people to play solo its your fault if you hop on the mega Hardcore CLAN servers and get killed there by a clan its clan servers for a reason thats why Jao made solo servers dont come to Mega Clan servers if you dont like clans

The fact that becoming an elder takes MONTHS is a huge problem. How much of our lives do these game developers think we can just _waste_ trying to get cooler stuff? Even a game that wants me to take multiple days to grow to an adult is already a turn-off.
This is the primary reason why I stopped playing multiplayer survival games. Clans ruin the experience for everyone not in the biggest clan. It's not even like a "competing for resources" thing - clans mob and kill people because they CAN and because they know it ruins someone else's experience. I will never play another MP survival game on official servers because of that.
As a backer of the original Kickstarter and long time supporter who's spent hundreds, I can confidently that this game... ...Has more wasted potential than Assassin's Creed: Shadows.
I remember back when backers or people supporting the game asked questions or concerns and were booted, silenced or punished from the discord as well. No toxicity, just well earned concerns and simple questions.

I do care about the games that I play and I do dislike DoD, but your stories really do transform the game. They bring out a different aspect and make it look so much more enjoyable than it is. It's a shame that no one does anything about clans, surely devs and server owners see how it's killing their already small playerbase? If the damn Isle can have servers that ban mixpacking and mega packs then surely the half a million dollar game can muster something up
A very close battle there in the middle! The flying battles were the funnest thing that game has, and it's such a shame the baby baited you in but very sweet that you tried to raise it. A shame the game is like this. I stopped playing after only a few months. That community is 1. Toxic 2. Petty 3. Immature 4. Pay to win 5. No moderation or care from the dev team towards the community (they seem to encourage the clan behavior) ...at this point it's hard to see it ever changing. It seems more likely a different team will make the exact same game but better and with less swindling. I always enjoy your videos and narrations even if it brings back bad memories of my own time playing.

Wow, never thought day of dragons would be getting some love on this channel. Heard a lot of bad things about it, but I’m excited for the video and how you play it!
As a semi-consistent player of DoD, I really wish it didn't have this bad of a wrap, it has SO much potential but a lot of impatient and some patient players following its tail. I've been playing custom servers with friends bc it's just better and less dramatic. PvE people sometimes want to help new players but I've heard of some SUPER toxic behavior. I would recommend Organized Choas (where some people do custom community games, as i don't want to be rude to Owl and shout another channel out w/out permission, I won't unless told otherwise) And a small semi-realism server called Leviathan Semi-Realism. It has its own discord and whitelisting BUT they have rules to balance out the ages of dragons per fight WHICH heavily makes the game more fun. Ofcourse I wish they would have a few servers for Solo/Mini Group (size of mother and her eggs and maybe dad, just so it encourages smaller groups, fighting at once in the server) and not just in 1 country, like accessible to 3 or 4 major region of the earth and not just the US where people will get kicked for x y or z problem... Anyways I think time will do this game wonders... and a new crowd to surround it in. Especially people that follow Owl; it's a long grow, quick combat and depending on the dragon species/class, you can decide to leave the combat or outlive it like he demonstrates a third way into the video. Which i give fckn.. HUGE props to Owl, he was 🔥 GAMING 🔥 in that moment, knew exactly how to play his dragon in that moment and it worked out. He would have 100% died on the us server but not the point 😅😂

I remember when this game got famous because of the controversy. You can see how the devs influence the player base, everyone remaining is a clan player with the P2W dragons. You managed to make a great story even with the low quality game/community

The game has some huge potential, but the toxicity of the clans, and to a lesser extent the fact that the only populated servers are clan servers, is what will ultimately kill the game. They actively ruin the new player experience, and drive new people away from the game. Regardless of my own thoughts and opinions on the state of the game's community and it's lackluster developer speed, I thoroughly enjoyed the video, Owl! Watching you fend off that clan was *chef's kiss* perfect.
As a IR (Inferno Ravager) you can burn out the spit of a Biolumin (That shit that painted you by the end of the vid) using your Q, also that same Q will make it so that biting you its a bad idea too or even flying close enough to you if im not wrong.
If you don't mind tips, OwL, the IR's Inferno ability burns away the acid/decay from ASDs and reduces damage from Plasma Shots and Lightning Attacks iirc, maybe just plasma. Either way, your storytelling is amazing as always, and I love watching your PvP content as always. Maybe one day you can get an elder of your own to fight with, there's guides out about the crystals and how to use them. Look forward to your next one, and good to see you back!
Yeah these clans most likely roleplay and roleplay fights which is probably why they go crazy on solos. Though it doesn't look very fun for solo players that just want to pvp.
I won't say I'm not entertained as you can make any game extremely engaging to watch, but I am sad to see this game getting attention. Most of the dragon designs are stolen, I feel it to be a cash grab, and feel it was marketed deceptively.

I straight up kill clan members on sight for that exact reason. EVEN IF THAT MEMBER youre helping is chill, one of their clan members comes along and just kills you anyway. and i've played this game for too long for it just just be a every so often thing. naw, that is consistent and habitual among ALL clans at any point in this game. I feel like the game needs to implement an actual ecosystem full of AI's cuz the map just feels empty. suuuuure theres a bunch of terrain and different elevations and its a giant ahh map, but... theres nothing going on. its empty af. its supposed to be populated with other players, but when you get like 10-40 players on a map THIS scale... its a barren waste land.
Ay nice to see you back on Day of Dragons, The solo experience can be really harsh but I'm glad to see you stuck it out and actually enjoyed the game despite that :) I mostly duo this game with a buddy and its still super difficult to kill anyone due to all the clans.
I stopped playing when my pc couldn't handle this game anymore after a few updates, now im getting an upgrade from my old gaming laptop to a pc and I will definitely revisit this game. Great video man.
I'll give you a like and a comment since I do find your storytelling really nice. But Day of Dragons? As much as (probably all of us) yearn for a modern dragon game, DoD will never be it... I would rather try to get I of the Dragon to run on my current computer instead of paying for and installing DoD. It still amazes me that every single dragon game that comes out is remembered for ages, but there's so few of them ever made that you'd think no one ever played them... Hopefully we'll get an actual decent dragon game sometime in the future.

@@Cross3x7 No they didn't. They were banned in the Files, by the devs. Whenever their steam ID tried to open the game, it'd freeze and crash. I recommend looking up "Dirty Devs: Days Of Dragons"
@@Cross3x7 DoD hard coded certain Steam ID numberS into their game, so when an individual wIth a certain number loaded the game, it would instantly crash. Which is ILLEGAL.

Man, great video/story. Was so happy to see you bloody the nose of that clan. Also very funny that you sent an Elder fleeing before that.. (it broadcasted with a very deep voice.) As for the game.. mixed feelings for me. I love dragons. The game is very cinematic and the flight physics are amazing. Sound and models amazing. But the clan-centred design is terrible. They do have some no-clan server but as you said the player base is small. I think the biggest issue is that the world is ultimately very empty. AI isn't very varied or fun to hunt AI. Only slightly dangerous. So PvE is stale if you're not into PVP. If you are into PVP baby stage is pretty long and boring. I think they got a lot more work to do to fill in the game and people are tired of waiting for the mega map and everything else promised. Fyi, I think using the fire cloak ability will shed acid and prevent it in the first place.

I got DoD a year ago after seeing lots of content on it, especially yours, I have fallen in love with the acid spitter and am trying my best to survive as a solo, (I have yet to get a kill on an adult dragon). Thanks for the awesome videos! Was watching my subscription feed for the DoD update one

Because they don’t care about longevity, other players, or the state of the game. They care about the dopamine hit they get when they gang up to pile-drive new or solo peeps on the server into not wanting to even touch pvp servers or hear about the clan system. Clans may not be inherently bad, but seeing people slaughter for sport gets so dang old so quickly.

This game has an abundance of issues but the two biggest for me are clans on pvp servers and the fact that early game is boring and hatchlings have no defense or means of escaping other players due to the fact hatchlings cant fly are slower and less agile than their juvi and adult counterparts. Here is hoping The Wings Of Dawn does dragon survival better and of course as always its a great day when I see a new vid for Owl

Screw clans. We all know Jao would rather keep such a toxic mechanic because its how the toxic playerbase lives out their power fantasies. It's actively killing the game and the numbers prove it.
Maybe one day Jao will wake up and absord feedback, ACTUAL feedback, and this game will be worth the public's time. Right now however, it's still a tech demo

Clans are not killing the game if you cant handle dying in a PVP based game go play PVE theres no pveing in PvP there are solo servers made for people to play solo its your fault if you hop on the mega Hardcore CLAN servers and get killed there by a clan its clan servers for a reason thats why Jao made solo servers dont come to Mega Clan servers if you dont like clans

The fact that becoming an elder takes MONTHS is a huge problem. How much of our lives do these game developers think we can just _waste_ trying to get cooler stuff? Even a game that wants me to take multiple days to grow to an adult is already a turn-off.

This is the primary reason why I stopped playing multiplayer survival games. Clans ruin the experience for everyone not in the biggest clan. It's not even like a "competing for resources" thing - clans mob and kill people because they CAN and because they know it ruins someone else's experience.
I will never play another MP survival game on official servers because of that.
As a backer of the original Kickstarter and long time supporter who's spent hundreds, I can confidently that this game...
...Has more wasted potential than Assassin's Creed: Shadows.

I remember back when backers or people supporting the game asked questions or concerns and were booted, silenced or punished from the discord as well. No toxicity, just well earned concerns and simple questions.

I do care about the games that I play and I do dislike DoD, but your stories really do transform the game. They bring out a different aspect and make it look so much more enjoyable than it is. You actually helped me pull the trigger on The Isle (love that game). Thanks for the stories and bringing to light game that are hard and sometimes time consuming. ^^
Their sounds are good - because they’re plugged, not made themselves. I’d be surprised if they WERE NOT just from a public domain.
Such an ignorant comment, their sound designer is Simon Chylinski who made the sounds for Subnautica. So I guess subnautica sounds were just from public domain too. Such a dumb statement.

It's a shame that no one does anything about clans, surely devs and server owners see how it's killing their already small playerbase? If the damn Isle can have servers that ban mixpacking and mega packs then surely the half a million dollar game can muster something up
there is solo PvP server. And DoD is not the isle, it wont ban mixpacking cuz PvP is about cooperation between different species.

A very close battle there in the middle! The flying battles were the funnest thing that game has, and it's such a shame the baby baited you in but very sweet that you tried to raise it.
A shame the game is like this. I stopped playing after only a few months. That community is 1. Toxic 2. Petty 3. Immature 4. Pay to win 5. No moderation or care from the dev team towards the community (they seem to encourage the clan behavior) ...at this point it's hard to see it ever changing. It seems more likely a different team will make the exact same game but better and with less swindling. I always enjoy your videos and narrations even if it brings back bad memories of my own time playing.
draconia, wings of dawn. are the two games that will apperently be the better versions of this. mind you i am basing this entirely off of previuos comments on this video.

Wow, never thought day of dragons would be getting some love on this channel. Heard a lot of bad things about it, but I’m excited for the video and how you play it!
As a semi-consistent player of DoD, I really wish it didn't have this bad of a wrap, it has SO much potential but a lot of impatient and some patient players following its tail. I've been playing custom servers with friends bc it's just better and less dramatic. PvE people sometimes want to help new players but I've heard of some SUPER toxic behavior.
I would recommend Organized Choas (where some people do custom community games, as i don't want to be rude to Owl and shout another channel out w/out permission, I won't unless told otherwise)
And a small semi-realism server called Leviathan Semi-Realism. It has its own discord and whitelisting BUT they have rules to balance out the ages of dragons per fight WHICH heavily makes the game more fun.
Ofcourse I wish they would have a few servers for Solo/Mini Group (size of mother and her eggs and maybe dad, just so it encourages smaller groups, fighting at once in the server) and not just in 1 country, like accessible to 3 or 4 major region of the earth and not just the US where people will get kicked for x y or z problem...
Anyways I think time will do this game wonders... and a new crowd to surround it in. Especially people that follow Owl; it's a long grow, quick combat and depending on the dragon species/class, you can decide to leave the combat or outlive it like he demonstrates a third way into the video. Which i give fckn.. HUGE props to Owl, he was 🔥 GAMING 🔥 in that moment, knew exactly how to play his dragon in that moment and it worked out. He would have 100% died on the us server but not the point 😅😂

I remember when this game got famous because of the controversy. You can see how the devs influence the player base, everyone remaining is a clan player with the P2W dragons.

The game has some huge potential, but the toxicity of the clans, and to a lesser extent the fact that the only populated servers are clan servers, is what will ultimately kill the game. They actively ruin the new player experience, and drive new people away from the game.
Regardless of my own thoughts and opinions on the state of the game's community and it's lackluster developer speed, I thoroughly enjoyed the video, Owl! Watching you fend off that clan was *chef's kiss* perfect.
As a IR (Inferno Ravager) you can burn out the spit of a Biolumin (That shit that painted you by the end of the vid) using your Q, also that same Q will make it so that biting you its a bad idea too or even flying close enough to you if im not wrong.
IR Q also protects against stun and reduces incoming element damage
it also burns off acid spitter's acid! very useful

If you don't mind tips, OwL, the IR's Inferno ability burns away the acid/decay from ASDs and reduces damage from Plasma Shots and Lightning Attacks iirc, maybe just plasma. Either way, your storytelling is amazing as always, and I love watching your PvP content as always. Maybe one day you can get an elder of your own to fight with, there's guides out about the crystals and how to use them. Look forward to your next one, and good to see you back!

Yeah these clans most likely roleplay and roleplay fights which is probably why they go crazy on solos. Though it doesn't look very fun for solo players that just want to pvp.

I won't say I'm not entertained as you can make any game extremely engaging to watch, but I am sad to see this game getting attention. Most of the dragon designs are stolen, I feel it to be a cash grab, and feel it was marketed deceptively.

and i've played this game for too long for it just just be a every so often thing. naw, that is consistent and habitual among ALL clans at any point in this game.
I feel like the game needs to implement an actual ecosystem full of AI's cuz the map just feels empty. suuuuure theres a bunch of terrain and different elevations and its a giant ahh map, but... theres nothing going on. its empty af. its supposed to be populated with other players, but when you get like 10-40 players on a map THIS scale... its a barren waste land.

Ay nice to see you back on Day of Dragons, The solo experience can be really harsh but I'm glad to see you stuck it out and actually enjoyed the game despite that :) I mostly duo this game with a buddy and its still super difficult to kill anyone due to all the clans.
I stopped playing when my pc couldn't handle this game anymore after a few updates, now im getting an upgrade from my old gaming laptop to a pc and I will definitely revisit this game. Great video man.

I would rather try to get I of the Dragon to run on my current computer instead of paying for and installing DoD.
It still amazes me that every single dragon game that comes out is remembered for ages, but there's so few of them ever made that you'd think no one ever played them...
Hopefully we'll get an actual decent dragon game sometime in the future.

Great vid! Glad to see you covering Day of Dragons. A little flaming tip, your flame won't do damage unless your cursor is on the target as you flame. Also, if the cursor is black, there's no line of sight, and it also won't do damage.
Did everyone forget the drama with this game? Where the devs banned 2 content creators because they made a constructive criticism talking about how to make the game better..?

@@Cross3x7 No they didn't. They were banned in the Files, by the devs. Whenever their steam ID tried to open the game, it'd freeze and crash. I recommend looking up "Dirty Devs: Days Of Dragons"

@@Cross3x7 DoD hard coded certain Steam ID numberS into their game, so when an individual wIth a certain number loaded the game, it would instantly crash. Which is ILLEGAL.

Every survival game has toxic clans in them who see no issue in using ‘Russian’ tactics to win. At least those in day of dragons only have themselves to blame for destroying the player base for their beloved game.

Man, great video/story. Was so happy to see you bloody the nose of that clan. Also very funny that you sent an Elder fleeing before that.. (it broadcasted with a very deep voice.)
As for the game.. mixed feelings for me. I love dragons. The game is very cinematic and the flight physics are amazing. Sound and models amazing. But the clan-centred design is terrible. They do have some no-clan server but as you said the player base is small.
I think the biggest issue is that the world is ultimately very empty. AI isn't very varied or fun to hunt AI. Only slightly dangerous. So PvE is stale if you're not into PVP. If you are into PVP baby stage is pretty long and boring. I think they got a lot more work to do to fill in the game and people are tired of waiting for the mega map and everything else promised.
Fyi, I think using the fire cloak ability will shed acid and prevent it in the first place.

I got DoD a year ago after seeing lots of content on it, especially yours, I have fallen in love with the acid spitter and am trying my best to survive as a solo, (I have yet to get a kill on an adult dragon). Thanks for the awesome videos! Was watching my subscription feed for the DoD update one

Love this channel man. Not a huge fan of watching others play games because it's mainly screaming and immature antics. But you do something different. You make a story out of it, you make it engaging, worth our time to watch. I appreciate it.

Because they don’t care about longevity, other players, or the state of the game. They care about the dopamine hit they get when they gang up to pile-drive new or solo peeps on the server into not wanting to even touch pvp servers or hear about the clan system. Clans may not be inherently bad, but seeing people slaughter for sport gets so dang old so quickly.

I've watched both of yours Herrera vids, and I would love to see you collaboration a 2 man squad. I posed the question in his love stream and he said he'd love to as well. I swore an oath to try and get this off the ground. It'll do numbers.
This game has an abundance of issues but the two biggest for me are clans on pvp servers and the fact that early game is boring and hatchlings have no defense or means of escaping other players due to the fact hatchlings cant fly are slower and less agile than their juvi and adult counterparts. Here is hoping The Wings Of Dawn does dragon survival better and of course as always its a great day when I see a new vid for Owl
